Alban Manor is a family-owned nursing home, close to St. Albans town centre. Nursing staff are on site 24/7 and are supported by a team of skilled carers. The Windsor Suite, located on the ground floor, provides support for 37 people who need more help with everyday life, including help with physical care needs. The Balmoral Suite, on the first floor, provides support for 43 residents who may have a dementia type condition or other mental health needs.

All bedrooms are en-suite with a homely feel. Personal living space is important and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in small pieces of furniture, ornaments and pictures. All bedrooms have profiling hospital beds for comfort and ease of access.

At Alban Manor you will find a friendly community. There are beautiful communal lounges and dining spaces for residents to enjoy. These include the art deco film house and zen wellness centre. The activities team ensure there is plenty to fill the days. From yoga to bingo, gardening club, quizzes, music sessions and hairdressing and so much more. Plenty to join in or just to sit and watch, whatever mood takes you.

Food is nutritious and prepared on site by the chef and his team. Dietary requirements and special requests can be accommodated.

Care at Alban Manor is person-centred and residents, and their families, are actively involved in care planning. Here individual personalities are nurtured and respected.

Mum moved into the home last Autumn. Throughout her stay, the care has been excellent and Mum has been very well looked after. The staff are very welcoming to visitors and nothing is a problem. All questions are answered and I feel confident that she is in a safe and caring environment. If there
are any changes to her condition, we are notified immediately. During the COVID-19 crises we have been unable to visit, but get regular updates on Mum and regular newsletters. Receiving photos is a delight. A huge thanks to all the staff for their care of my Mum.

The facilities and standard of the buildings and décor at Alban Manor match the friendliness and general approach of the staff - exemplary.
Our relative is receiving end of life care during Covid 19 lockdown which obviously makes the interaction between staff and resident all the more important. We
are all devastated that we cannot visit, but the care, and I would go so far as to say, the love that has been shown to our relative have gone a long way to compensate for that.
Other more practical matters such as the quality of the food, assistance with phone calls, communication and updates, also fall into the exemplary box.
These are very difficult times, but we are relieved and grateful that our relative is in such good hands.

After a stay in hospital, we booked my dad into Alban Manor for a few weeks respite and convalescing. From the initial contact through to his admission and ongoing support we have all been truly delighted with the care, kindness, and level of service/support shown by every single member of staff. We
extended his stay due to the Covid-19 outbreak and more recently my mother also moved into Alban Manor. She has also received a first-rate service and support from all the amazing team at Alban Manor. Thank You all.

On my first visit to the Manor, I was immediately impressed by the countless shrubs to both sides of the avenue that led to the nursing home and what a fine building the Manor is. The architects and interior designers have produced a splendid building that could be regarded as the best in the country.
My wife spent the last few weeks of her life in the Manor and I was delighted with the way she was cared for. So I thank the managing director and staff for looking after her and in particular the nurses who supported me in my moment of fragility.

Finding a care home for a loved one is something I hoped I would never have to do, but sadly Dad is just too poorly for us to look after at home.
From the moment we stepped into Alban Manor we felt at home. The building is so bright and cheerful as are the staff.
I was particularly impressed with
the interaction between all staff from the top down, they really do work as a team, listening to suggestions and working together.
My dad has only been there a week, but already has a rapport with the staff, he tells us that everyone is so lovely, nothing is ever too much trouble. The activity schedule complete with a film night is amazing. No-one is forced to do anything, just gently encouraged. The live music on Saturday was lovely, everyone tapping their feet to the songs.
A huge thank you from me for making this very difficult time, so much easier.

The wide smiles you get every time you walk through the door at Alban Manor speak volumes. Mum moved in there in October 2019 after a series of falls at home and we are very pleased with how she is being looked after. She has improved enormously since moving in. The staff are cheeky (in a good way!)
funny and personable. There are plenty of activities (yoga, singing, games and crafts) and trips out (shopping, restaurant lunches, museums, etc.). But there is no enforced Butlins-style fun: residents are encouraged to go on trips, but not forced if they'd prefer to stay put - which I think is important so the choice is theirs. It is pricey but feels more like a hotel than a nursing home. The atmosphere is relaxed but caring. I have been in homes where the residents are simply stuck in front of the TV all day. Here, you feel they are encouraged to keep on enjoying life.

We moved our Mum from another local care home due to a number of reasons, primarily lack of attention with regard to her health and well-being. Having lost faith in that particular care home, we decided to move our Mum to Alban Manor, where we were greeted from the start with warmth, kindness and compassion.
Mum is now in a safe, clean place where she is being cared for by staff who are well-trained, kind, friendly and helpful. The rooms are bright, airy and clean, in fact, the whole home is spotless. There are daily activities and regular trips out. The management are very involved and keep a close eye on the day to day running of the care home. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a warm welcome from all members of staff and management whenever we visit. As a family, we would highly recommend Alban Manor.

On arrival, a bright and happy greeting from the staff. The home itself is decorated in bright, light colours, unlike others that always beige and dull. All the staff were lovely, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
My Mother-in-law was very happy there for her short stay and enjoyed taking part
in the daily activities in the communal lounge (that was not too big, therefore had a cosy appeal to it). She also used to enjoy her daily chats with the other residents.

After the worst three months in our lives, we came to the nursing home, straight away it felt like we were going home.
