Overall Experience
My mother had been at Alban Manor for 2 years, initially in the Balmoral suite, but after 3 months she was transferred to the Windsor suite.
The home and staff were always warm, considerate and accommodating.
She had medical needs and the nursing staff were always there and proactively managing her progressing ill health. When she was deemed as end of life, the situation was handled delicately, with respect and I was kept informed of the situation at all times.

This home is unique and a true family.

Mum was with Alban Manor for two and a half years. Their care was faultless and the whole team worked to ensure everyone was comfortable, happy and making the most of life. The facilities are good and I would not hesitate to recommend them. They kept the family informed of all important events and when the end of life was near offered support and comfort.

Overall Experience

My sister stayed at Alban Manor Nursing Home for almost three months. She had complex care needs and became very severely ill during that time. The staff, from receptionist to matron, were unfailingly friendly, helpful, conscientious and professional, and the nurses in charge of the floor were highly experienced. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of care, clinical supervision and regular communication with me. Support from the nearby NHS general practice was also good. The food was well prepared and presented, and the staff tried hard to ensure a good intake of food and fluids. Skin care and hygiene were also very good. The nursing home is purpose-built with attractive decor and grounds, the facilities are excellent, the room was bright, clean and comfortable, and our decorations were welcomed, enhancing an already very homely living space. The consideration shown to my sister and us when she died was outstanding. We are very grateful for the care she received.

From the very first time I made contact with Alban Manor Nursing Home, I was impressed with the level of both care and professionalism. They were very patient throughout the entire process of my uncle being admitted. The staff are excellent at updating us with any physical and mental health changes that may arise. There is always a lovely smile and a feeling of warmth and compassion whenever we visit.

My dad is absolutely in the kindest, caring place you could wish for. All the staff are attentive to all my dad's needs. They take a lot of time to feed him all his meals. The liaison between the matron and nurses with NHS doctors and specialist care is very good. The home is always very clean and the food is of superb quality with elevens and afternoon tea between meals. Activities are provided to entertain my dad. Absolutely no reason to not recommend this home.

My mother was in this nursing home for five days from discharge from hospital until her death. She received excellent care. She was unwilling to eat but the staff tried hard to find something that she would eat. On her birthday they decorated her room with balloons, made her a special cake with candles and sang Happy Birthday. I am sure this gave her pleasure although she did not have much understanding of what was happening. I was welcome to visit at any time. The ambience is bright and cheerful and the staff are friendly.

I have always found the management and reception staff at Alban Manor extremely welcoming, friendly and efficient.

The nursing staff are also very caring, friendly and patient with all residents, and also do their very best to treat everyone with the utmost dignity. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alban Manor to prospective families.

The home was aware of my husband's lack of enthusiasm about living in a care home. The staff thought about his interests (mainly model railways) and provided and painted a special table for his models.

The newer unit manager inspires confidence that any needs will be taken seriously and that something appropriate will be done.

This is a place where dignity exudes from the moment you enter to the day your loved one leaves. My mum had the best care we could have hoped for and the way all of the family and friends were welcomed was so warm. Exceptional people in every department, from reception, nursing, personal care, to the kitchen staff - this is not a job but a labour of love. They genuinely care. For our family, it was an excellent experience, in a difficult time.

Review from Jill T (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 5 September 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Before choosing a Care Home for my sister-in-law, I looked around several in the area, and none of them seemed right. As soon as I walked into Alban Manor, I knew this was the one. She has now been at Alban Manor for three months and after the first few weeks, has settled in very well. She is much more mobile than she was at home and is eating and sleeping better. The care she is receiving is excellent. I have found all the staff very friendly and helpful, and any concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently. She has recently been moved into the Dementia Unit, and I worried she would find it unsettling to have to move to a different room, but she is fine. I have asked her if she is happy with her care and the Home and she says she is. I would be happy to recommend Alban Manor to anyone.

Very impressed with how welcoming and responsive the receptionist, carers and nurses are at Alban Manor Nursing Home. They informed us recently that our relative hasn’t been able to sit in an upright chair and is mostly confined to bed but when we visited this morning they brought her a portable reclining armchair so we could wheel her into the courtyard garden and enjoy a complimentary cup of freshly ground coffee together. Great to see the herbs and vegetables growing in the wooden planters. Beautifully maintained home and wonderful staff!

Review from Sally H (Partner of Resident) published on 13 June 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My partner has been at Alban Manor for about six months since having a stroke and now being severely disabled and having little speech. The facilities are very good and meet his needs and all the staff are extremely caring both to him and me. There is a lovely atmosphere and all the residents seem very happy. There is a wide range of activities and my partner benefits from the stimulation of being with other people even though he can’t join in their conversations. He has a pleasant sunny room overlooking the garden and he enjoys being outside when possible. The garden is well laid out and equipped with benches and shady areas. I have noticed that the residents are very caring towards each other. As a lot of them are local they often have visitors known to other residents who will then call and say hello so that it feels like a real community resource. There is a monthly church service which residents can attend. I am often there at mealtimes and the quality of the food is very good.

My husband has been in Alban Manor since last June. I could not have wished for him to be in a better place. He's in a lovely room overlooking the garden and when the sun's shining he gets full sun, this is something he has always loved. He is very happy there and it's truly home to him. The food is good varied and plentiful. The staff are absolutely lovely, they are caring, kind and attentive to his every need. Even though he can't communicate with them verbally he knows the different staff members and responds well to them with smiles and gestures. They do an amazing job and show huge compassion for those they care for. I have been so impressed at how friendly they are to me too, regardless of what time I visit. Everyone is so welcoming, whether they are office staff, front desk staff or carers, they always smile and take time to chat with me. I've got to know some of them really quite well over the past 9 months. I think the place is very well managed, it runs like clockwork.
