Alban Manor is a family-owned nursing home, close to St. Albans town centre. Nursing staff are on site 24/7 and are supported by a team of skilled carers. The Windsor Suite, located on the ground floor, provides support for 37 people who need more help with everyday life, including help with physical care needs. The Balmoral Suite, on the first floor, provides support for 43 residents who may have a dementia type condition or other mental health needs.

All bedrooms are en-suite with a homely feel. Personal living space is important and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing in small pieces of furniture, ornaments and pictures. All bedrooms have profiling hospital beds for comfort and ease of access.

At Alban Manor you will find a friendly community. There are beautiful communal lounges and dining spaces for residents to enjoy. These include the art deco film house and zen wellness centre. The activities team ensure there is plenty to fill the days. From yoga to bingo, gardening club, quizzes, music sessions and hairdressing and so much more. Plenty to join in or just to sit and watch, whatever mood takes you.

Food is nutritious and prepared on site by the chef and his team. Dietary requirements and special requests can be accommodated.

Care at Alban Manor is person-centred and residents, and their families, are actively involved in care planning. Here individual personalities are nurtured and respected.

Mum has been a resident since October 2020, and over Christmas, it has become clear that she is in a really friendly place and doing well. She is well cared for and has been successful in overcoming health issues with help of nursing and care staff.

Alban Manor was recommended to me and I couldn't be happier. I don't think I would find a better home for my aunt to live in. She has been treated with the utmost care and respect, with great emphasis on her retaining her dignity. The communication has been fantastic, I've not been able to visit much
due to covid and the admin team have gone above and beyond in keeping me updated, with photos and snippets of what she's taken part in and who she has made friends with. They act promptly in gaining information on my aunt that hasn't been provided by the hospital or GP and I feel nothing but absolute confidence in their ability to give my aunt the best care they can. I can't wait until their doors are open more freely so that I can enjoy spending more time with my aunt and become more involved with her new, safer and more stimulating life. Thank you!

I moved to Alban Manor after what should have been a short stay in hospital but ended up being 6 weeks. On discharge from hospital, I was unable to return to independent living and moved into Alban Manor. When I arrived, I had lost confidence, weight and the ability to walk unaided. With the care, compassion
and patience of the Alban Manor staff, I can now walk with the use of a frame and have gained weight with the delicious hot meals and elevenses. My days are varied: walking, lightweight exercises, dominos, chess, watching films and participating in quizzes. I also enjoy quiet times reading the paper and chatting to my children on FaceTime. It was never my intention to move to a care home but I feel secure, cared for and safe here at Alban Manor.

My Mum has been in Alban Manor since June. It was a difficult decision to make bearing in mind the covid situation, but Mum needed the support of a nursing home due to her Parkinson’s and dementia. We have been so pleased with the care and support that Mum has received. She always appears happy in her
surroundings and loves the food. The care home is a really caring and supportive community with a lovely, friendly team of staff. We have really appreciated that in addition to looking after my Mum so well, they also go to great lengths to take my Dad’s needs into consideration, ensuring that he has regular contact with Mum despite covid restrictions. They even baked and delivered an anniversary cake to him so that he could have a shared experience with my Mum on a video call. The management run the home very efficiently and keep us well informed about Mum’s care.

Alban Manor Nursing Home offers very attractive accommodation and facilities. We have found the staff to be welcoming and professional in their approach. The 'phone' is always answered promptly, and our requests dealt with efficiently. We receive regular email updates as to the many activities on offer
etc, and residents are encouraged to participate in meetings as to improvements they would like to see. The home has implemented a strict regime re-Covid to keep all residents and staff well.

When my husband joined the Alban Manor community he was very poorly but thanks to the amazing standard of the care and love he has received, he has thrived and is enjoying a way of life we could have only imagined. It has been a very difficult time since March when we have had very limited access
to visits. However, the staff have kept us fully informed of his condition, and any changes they have made to his care programme. When we were able to see him again, my sons and I were amazed at how well and happy he was. We know he is receiving the best care possible, and cannot begin to thank the staff enough for their dedication in ensuring that he remains safe and loved during these difficult times.
My sons and I look forward to when we will, once again, be able to make regular visits and renew our friendships with everyone at Alban Manor.

Alban Manor is a very friendly place and my mum has adapted to the place very well. Great staff and a very clean home, hygiene standards are excellent. Would recommend the home to anybody. Has good parking spaces and has good activity programmes for residents.

My mother became a resident at 92 years of age following a mild stroke. She was admitted during COVID lockdown and received excellent care and assistance dealing with her new environment and circumstances. Her medical care has been first class and she has settled well. We receive regular updates from

My mother came to stay at Alban Manor for respite care during some home renovations. She was so well looked after and really enjoyed her stay. The surroundings were luxurious, the food was excellent and most importantly the staff were extremely kind and caring. My mother still talks about them now.
She really enjoyed the activities programme including the bingo and yoga. It truly was a home away from home. Thank you, the matron and your team for making us all feel so welcome.

You get a clear idea of the efficiency of management at the family owned and run Alban Manor nursing home in St Albans from its reaction to the COVID-19 crisis. A full week before the government implemented its lockdown measures in March, management saw how much trouble was looming and put its own lockdown
measures in place. This, among other things, involved banning all visitors and other non-essential people. At the same time, knowing how much this might distress some residents, management bought a number of tablet computers so that relatives and friends could at least see and talk to residents via Facetime. When the government eased some of the lockdown restrictions early in June, relatives were told this was not in line with scientific advice and the ban of visits was maintained. Consequently, at the time of writing there has been no case of COVID-19 in Alban Manor, where carers are encouraged to treat residents as if they are close and dear relatives.

I am writing this review after Alban Manor Nursing Home has provided a full year (20/06/2019) of outstanding care, service and, in my case, friendship in my wife's fight against the dreadful dementia illness.
In these difficult times, it is wonderful to sincerely believe and know that my wife is being
looked after so well as are all others in their care.
I am updated regularly of any developments in relation to my wife's welfare and the weekly newsletter is circulated to my three children who reside around the world and who share my thanks and praise for their mother's care and well-being.
I thank all the staff and management team for their devotion and sacrifices and pray that their present Coronavirus free status remains.
I look forward to a time when daily personal visits will be allowed by the family to their loved ones.
Until that happens, thank you all at Alban Manor for a years devotion and care. It is much appreciated.

My 96-year-old mother has been a resident at Alban Manor for a year this month
We cannot find fault.
The care is not only of a very high standard but also carried out with good humour and genuine affection for the residents, creating a warm family atmosphere.
The activities are greatly enjoyed along
with superb food and beautifully clean surroundings and a lovely garden.

My husband had had a couple of very successful respite weeks in Alban Manor. We as a family decided that he needed full-time care and did not hesitate to send him into the care of Alban Manor.
He is very settled and enjoying it especially, the food and the activities. It's good to know for me that

My mother moved into Alban Manor in June 2019, she has advanced dementia and has received the most wonderful care. Their professional and caring attitude meant the staff quickly identified her needs, likes, dislikes and her personality, so they are able to deliver a very tailored level of care which
meant Mum settled in very quickly. As her needs have changed over the last year, the staff have always immediately adapted and keep you informed at all times. Mum is always relaxed and content when I visit, nothing is too much trouble and my father, who is not a resident, has very much been made to feel part of the Alban Manor family. At this time, when we are not able to visit Mum, I am so very grateful for the peace of mind that she is in the best possible hands. To me that is priceless.

My Mother spent 6 months at Alban Manor and from the time we viewed the Nursing Home, which had recently been completely refurbished to a very high standard, we found all the staff very friendly, compassionate and attentive. My mother's last 6 months were spent in an environment that was very comfortable,
nothing was ever a problem and the facilities brilliant. She was always a fan of good food and had excellent culinary skills and apart from wanting cheese on toast, which I am sure could have been provided, she was never heard to make the slightest comment about the food other than it was great. Fabulous little garden too for residents and guests to sit in weather permitting. I can say when my time comes I would be chuffed to be a resident at Alban Manor.

My dad has been a resident at Alban Manor for the last 3 months. The welcome we both received after his transfer from hospital was second to none. And this continues to be the case. I am kept informed of his welfare and any health concerns. Above all else the nurses, carers and the manager are kind
and caring and keen to make sure the residents are as happy as they can be. They are doing an incredible job which can be very rewarding but certainly very challenging at times too!

My Mother has been a resident of the nursing home for a number of months and I have been very impressed. The care my Mother has received is of the highest standard with an amazing group of staff who all go out of their way to help and care for the residents. The home is bright and airy and very well
maintained. The home is located in a quiet area of St Albans with a lovely well-maintained garden for residents to use. The rooms are of a good size and well decorated with airy lounges and dining areas. I am so thankful that we found Alban Manor where my Mother is well cared for in safe, comfortable surroundings with an exceptional team of people looking after her.

We moved Mum to Alban Manor at the beginning of March for respite having moved her from another Care Home which we were not happy with. Initially Mum was due to stay one month but following the Coronavirus outbreak, we have extended her stay as we feel she is safer there. The home is lovely, light,
bright and very modern. Beautiful garden for the residents to enjoy. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We have weekly updates from the home and we frequently receive photos of Mum. We are able to talk to her or have video call links with her as often as we like.
We looked at 2 other homes in St Albans and Alban Manor was by far the best. I would highly recommend it.

Nicola joined Alban Manor in 2020 as our receptionist, and since having her 2nd child, she has returned as our administrator.
Nicola loves helping others, whether it be residents, staff or children. She worked as a primary school teaching assistant, a driving instructor and owned her own bridesmaids shop. In her spare time, she loves watching football and spending time with her two little girls.
