Overall I think you do very well. More music in the afternoons would be great as people with dementia do not respond to just watching tv. Sing songs or Andre Rieu dvds would be loved by most residents. There is a dead period around 2pm to 3:30 when very little goes on to keep residents occupied -
I am guessing staff are on lunch break.? Perhaps this could be staggered ? Putting Andre Rieu DVD on would be uplifting and the residents would not need too much supervision.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Deewater GrangeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind comments about the home overall—it really means a great deal to our team.

We truly value your suggestions regarding activities, particularly in the afternoons. Supporting meaningful engagement for people living with dementia is very important to us, and we appreciate your ideas around incorporating more music, including sing-alongs and Orchestra DVDs, which we agree can be uplifting and enjoyable for many residents.

Please be assured that we have taken your comments on board and have already put actions into place to ensure improvements are made.
We are now ensuring that a care colleague is specifically allocated to support activity time during the early afternoon period, alongside our planned lifestyle activities which begin at 2pm. This is helping to reduce quieter periods and provide more consistent engagement for residents.

Your feedback is incredibly helpful in shaping our service, and we are grateful for your input. Please feel free to share any further suggestions with us at any time.

Dad arrived at Deewater in January 2026 after finally accepting that looking after himself was getting too much. We had concerns about how he would cope with this big change (different location, reduced independence etc.)......but we needn't have worried.
The Staff at Deewater are (without exception)
always friendly, professional and caring. He has settled into his new life with surprising enthusiasm. He enjoys many of the activities, has made new friends and enjoys the attention he receives from the Deewater staff.
We really never thought that he'd be playing Scrabble, taking part in quizzes, enjoying the comfortable seats in the cinema room and on first name terms with the staff.....and all within 6 weeks of arriving.
The availability of multiple lounges/coffee areas makes visiting very easy and enjoyable, as there always seems to be somewhere to sit and talk privately.
He's now looking forward to planting out some plants on his patio, to enjoy during the Summer.
Reply from Elizabeth Wilson-Lamb, Reviews Team at Deewater GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review.
We’re truly delighted to hear how well your dad has settled in since joining us in January. Moving into a care home is a big life transition, and it’s completely natural to have concerns, so it means a great deal to know that he has embraced this new chapter with such enthusiasm. He has very quickly become a respected part of our home and the staff take great pleasure in looking after him.
It’s wonderful to hear that he is enjoying the activities, making new friendships, and feeling comfortable enough to fully engage in daily life here – from Scrabble and quizzes to relaxing in the cinema room. Creating a welcoming, supportive environment where residents feel valued and at home is exactly what we strive for, and your kind words about our team being friendly, professional, and caring will mean a lot to them.
We’re also pleased that you’ve found the layout of the home helpful for visits, with plenty of spaces to relax together. Those moments with family are incredibly important, and we’re glad they’ve been made easier and more enjoyable.
We hope your dad gets great pleasure from his patio planting over the summer – it sounds like something lovely to look forward to! Thank you again for your kind feedback and for trusting us with his care.

We as a family cannot thank enough all the staff at Deewater for the outstanding care Mum continues to get since arriving 18 months ago. The staff are friendly, nothing is too much trouble, the home is exceptionally clean as is Mum's room. There is always some sort of activity taking place and the residents
enjoy planned outings. Mum often expresses how well she is looked after and how kind the staff are. I'm kept up to date with any medical information via phone calls. We visited several care homes prior to mum moving here and Deewater stood out above all others, so thank you everyone for looking after my mum.

We can not thank and praise the staff at Dee Water Grange enough, from the moment you walk into Reception you are met with a welcome of kindness and happiness . My mum has settled in very well and that's mainly due to the helpful and friendly manner of all the staff .
Her room is spacious /clean
with arm chair and television if she wished to spend time in there, however she also enjoys sitting in the communal lounges or corridor arm chairs just watching the world go by. The staff will encourage her to join in with the regular group activities too. I am happy to know my mum is being looked after so well and not spending her days alone.
It's also great to have the coffee shop where mum loves to visit -plus being able to have her hair and nails done are an additional treat for her.
Overall as a family we are really relieved and satisfied that mum has 24 hour care, she is happy, relaxed and enjoying living here. I would and have already recommended the home.

My Dad has been a resident since Feb this year, during this time his needs have changed considerably due to Parkinson's Disease.
I cannot praise or thank the staff enough for their care and support not just for Dad but also for me and my sister.
It has been a very challenging and upsetting time
for us as a family and the entire team at Deewater have been amazing!
I cannot give a higher recommendation than entrusting a beloved Dad into the care of strangers who have become like extended family.

We considered other care options but someone recommended Deewater Grange. As soon as we visited we knew it was the right option for Mum. The staff are all so lovely and she has settled so well. She enjoys the privacy of her own room balanced with the opportunity to mix during, meal times and activities.

My mum is a resident at Deewater Grange Care Home, and has been a resident for 2 years. Mum was initially in the general care area, but as her needs changed is now in dementia care. She is most definitely happy and settled. Both admin and care staff are very friendly and helpful, and I think, as a relative,
it helps to develop a relationship with the staff, as your specific requests then become more like a conversation. Mum's room and facilities generally are super-modern, spacey and well laid out. There are lounges and a cafe on site, which means a change of scenery is possible during a visit. I would recommend Deewater Grange to family or friends.

Thank you so much for making my mum feel so welcome at Deewater Grange. She came for two weeks of respite care, arriving tired and in need of some TLC, which all the staff went above and beyond to deliver. The staff took time to get to know mum and understand her needs. Her room was very comfortable,
and the food was fantastic. Any questions or worries mum had were dealt with quickly, and mum felt listened to, and nothing was too much trouble. She enjoyed some of the many activities that are available there, and it was a great way to get to know some of the other residents. Mum went home, much more relaxed and recharged, and looking forward to (hopefully) visiting again in January for more respite care after an operation.

I am not normally one for writing reviews but on this occasion, I felt compelled to write and let people know just how amazing every single member of staff has been in both their dealings with me, prior to both my elderly parents checking into DeeWater Grange Care Home as well as the way my parents
have been treated since they arrived at the Home.
Every single question I had was answered clearly, professionally and with an understanding of the kind of emotions I was going through in what is a huge step for my parents to take. I must give particular thanks to the team who have been absolutely brilliant at every step. My parents are now residing at the care home and quite honestly, since the moment they arrived, they have been treated like VIP guests at a five-star hotel. To sum up, I cannot thank everyone involved at DeeWater Grange enough for the excellent service and facilities they provide. Thank you.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.848 for Deewater Grange is calculated as follows: ( (181 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.848
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deewater Grange is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked for Care UK for most of my adult life, starting out as a healthcare assistant and progressing to my current role as Home Manager. With encouragement from colleagues, I also completed my nursing degree as a mature student.

Being able to work my way up and gain my qualifications (which also include NVQs in health and social care and leadership and management) has been a huge achievement for me and a big career highlight.

In this role, you need to be able to communicate well and have strong leadership and planning skills. Working as a team also means you have to be good at motivating people. It is also important to have a good grasp of budgets, and it is essential to be clear about safeguarding policies and procedures.

The work we do really does make a difference, and that fills me with immense pride. It feels great when we get positive feedback from relatives who can see that their loved ones are receiving the quality care they need.

My favourite part of the day is the time I’m able to spend having a coffee, cake and a chat with residents. Seeing everyone get along well and share special moments really does brighten up each day.

Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my children and grandchildren.
