At present, my mum requires nursing care. She couldn't be in a better place. The environment and facilities are amazing. Clean, bright, comfortable and inviting. The food is excellent; fresh, healthy and beautifully presented adding to its appeal.
But most importantly to me, the staff are exceptional.
They are warm, friendly and welcoming; professional, well-trained, highly competent, patient, kind, caring and compassionate. Nothing is too much trouble. They treat Mum with dignity and respect. Her treatment and care are personalised, specific to her needs and never feel like a series of 'tasks' to be completed. She is always treated as an individual. Mum loves the staff.
It is the only facility Mum has been where I feel confident her needs are anticipated and fully met and that she is truly cared for. I can trust the staff completely, which reassures me and greatly reduces any anxiety my dad or I have about her health or care needs. I am delighted with Deewater Grange. It is exceptional.

My husband received respite care for two weeks and I was most impressed not only by the professionalism of the staff but also by their instant engagement with his needs and wellbeing as an individual. As a frequent visitor, the staff always made me feel welcome at any time and happy to discuss any queries
and give helpful advice. I would have no hesitation in returning.

I chose this care home for my mum because of its staff, facilities and activities. My mother has only been a resident for two weeks and I am pleased that I did. From booking Mum in, to moving her in, to visiting her, to see how she is getting along, I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful
at all times. My only couple of suggestions would be that it would be very helpful to have a 'key worker' assigned to Mum. Someone that she can build trust and a relationship with, someone who is a key contact for me to discuss issues, answer questions and give feedback on Mum's progress. A welcome pack may have been useful too, with all the forms for me to complete held within it, as well as contact details of people, address and telephone numbers. I would also be grateful for the phone in Mum's area to be kept to hand so that it can be answered. I was given a phone number to reach Mum, but I found that on a number of occasions it has continually rung and not been answered. A fab home still!
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Deewater GrangeThe team are really pleased she is settling in well and that she is finding all staff welcoming and friendly. Our friendly and helpful team are something we pride ourselves on at Deewater Grange. We welcome feedback as this allows us to tweak our processes and systems to give a smoother introduction to the home.
A keyworker is assigned and welcome packs are in the residents' bedrooms with key information; we endeavour to make signposting for this as clear as possible.
The forms to complete are normally done in person by the customer relation manager, however, some paperwork cannot be done until admission. We are looking at ways in which we can make this process more efficient in future.
The phone numbers are currently under review.

An amazing care home. My aunty loves this place, it is so friendly, caring and beautifully kept.
The staff are amazing with so much going on every day to keep residents active and stimulated.
My aunt is looked after in every way possible and she has such a good bond with all the staff.
The days
out that are organised by the staff are so good and my aunt loves them.
It is such a weight off our minds knowing how happy our aunt is at Deewater Grange, seeing her so content and well cared for they are like one big family of their own in Deewater and we could not ask for anything more from them.

From my first contact with Deewater Grange, the communication has been excellent. The Customer Service Manager was so helpful in arranging Mum's admission at short notice and very clear about all the documentation needed to enable this to happen. I felt she really cared and that we were working together
to make this happen, despite the challenge of the home being in lockdown at the time which meant I couldn't visit! When I did get into the home after lockdown I was delighted with the facilities and my Mum's room, as she is too. She loves sitting by her patio door looking onto the garden and is starting to make friends with other residents thanks to encouragement and activities laid on, by the staff. She tells me the food is excellent and when I visit the staff always offer to bring me a drink. The best aspect for me is the caring nature of the management and staff and the ease with which I can communicate with them with regard to my mum's needs.

After being discharged from hospital my mother was unable to fend for herself and with limited support needed a care home as soon as possible. Deewater Grange looked impressive with all the amenities that I would wish for in a care home so I contacted the Customer Relations Manager. The Customer Relations
Manager talked me through the admissions process expertly and addressed all my concerns including the rules around Covid. Negative PCR test prior to admission followed by 14 days isolation before being allowed into the communal areas and meeting other residents. It has taken my mum time to settle in but she now feels safe and secure in her well-appointed room with a patio and is beginning to enjoy the social activities, facilities, and company. The staff are exceptional, incredibly caring, friendly, and responsive. Health and wellbeing are continually monitored by the staff and weekly by the Doctor with a call to myself if they have any concerns. Great facilities with high standards of care and hygiene, highly recommended.

I needed to find a really good home for my mum very quickly to recover from a broken ankle operation. I turned up at Deewater Grange and the Customer Services Manager was amazing. She explained everything to me; we acted very quickly and I trusted her. My mum moved in 3 days later. There were a couple
of minor issues to start with but these were resolved very quickly. My mum has been very happy at Deewater. The staff are very caring and responsive; they showed an interest in her and she built some lovely relationships. There is a choice of food and it is very good. The home is very clean and it is kept to a high standard. She enjoys meeting her visitors in the coffee shop. Following her two weeks isolation due to the strict Covid rules the home applies, she was able to use more of the excellent facilities and meet other residents. My mum’s recovery has been so good and I am sure the lovely staff and wonderful environment have been a significant contributory factor.

Deewater has exceeded our expectations. All of the staff are exceptional, from housekeeping to management, everyone acknowledges you upon arrival and are so approachable, nothing is too much trouble. Our mother has settled into the beautiful surroundings and her room is delightful; tastefully designed,
light and modern, with an air of serenity. Our mother enjoys the varied and interesting menu and is occupied by a wide variety of activities to fill her days. As a family we feel fully supported by all the staff and communication between family and staff is excellent. Deewater has excellent facilities for its residents including a cinema room and ‘coffee shop’ and the wonderful presence of Mabel, the resident dog, makes this home feel truly like a home from home.

Mum was admitted to Deewater Grange Care Home in July 2021. After a couple of weeks of adjustment, she has settled very well. The staff have made her very welcome and introduced her to other residents, which has given her a sense of belonging. Mum now calls Deewater Grange home. The admission process
was fairly straightforward, especially during and considering the pandemic. The facilities are lovely, well maintained and very clean. We have a very high comfort level that Mum is very safe with the level of security in place at Deewater Grange. Her health and well-being are addressed continually and we are kept informed regularly. The few very minor issues that we have had during Mum's settling-in period have all been addressed speedily, efficiently, and pleasantly. We could not ask for Mum to be in a better facility than Deewater Grange.

After the stress of going round in circles with various organisations, trying to find appropriate care for my mother-in-law, who suffers from dementia, it was a welcome relief to find Deewater Grange Care Home. The customer relations manager, from the moment she became involved, could not have done
more for us or been more calm, competent, and reassuring. The staff are lovely and created a genuinely interested and welcoming atmosphere for my mother-in-law upon arrival, arranging the personalisation of her living space with her own pictures, furniture, and belongings, and keeping us in touch with how she was settling in. The staff also have the particular skills necessary to manage dementia sufferers; I cannot recommend the team highly enough. At present, there are also very strict procedures in place to prevent Covid from entering the home.

Deewater Grange is a delightful place, being immaculate with a very high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. My cousin has a spacious room leading onto a well-kept garden and a beautiful en-suite bathroom, surrounded by her own familiar objects from home all which help her feel settled and content.
She tells me that there is an excellent choice at mealtimes and that the food is always well presented. She particularly enjoys her visits to the coffee shop where she can socialise.
Deewater’s customer relations is very ably handled by the customer relations manager. She is first-rate, very competent and knowledgeable. She led us through the admin process explaining everything in detail in a very reassuring yet amiable manner.
The staff, especially on reception, are dedicated, friendly and caring and are happy to help with any information or enquiries about my cousin’s well being.
Deewater is an oasis of genuine care and gives us as a family great comfort in knowing that she is being kept safe and well looked after.

The customer relationship manager guided us through the whole process and despite having to admit under (Covid) restricted conditions, our aunt has settled well and is thriving in her new surroundings. All of the staff we have encountered have been helpful, professional, and caring and anyone with any
doubts about moving a loved one into a supported environment should look no further. The home and its surroundings are immaculately kept and I have no doubt anymore that we have helped our aunt make the right decision for her future care.

Mum had a very happy Christmas 2020 at Deewater Grange despite all the restrictions of Covid-19, this was due to the hard work of all the staff team. Even though visitors were not allowed, I could see all the preparations that Mum was involved in via Deewater Grange's Facebook Account. She did all sorts
of things including making decorations and enjoying lots of tasty treats too. Mum loved being outside and there were pictures of her well wrapped up in the lovely gardens. Talking to staff I know they helped Mum to enjoy the letters I sent her because they commented on the family news in them. On Christmas Day itself, there were lovely photographs of Mum with her gift bag from the home and with the gifts the family had sent in. In all the photographs Mum looked very happy and very well. The food must have been good because staff reported how well Mum was eating. (In non-Covid times family can enjoy meals too.) I cannot thank all the staff enough for the wonderful care they took of Mum.

Nothing was too much trouble and as a family we were able to communicate and receive information at all times of the day. The staff were so kind especially the
carers and nurses. They treated us like we were their own family. Mum also received exceptional care and was kept comfortable and safe and everyone was extremely gentle and kind. We would highly recommend this lovely place.

Despite Covid-19 restrictions which meant we couldn't enter the home, the Deewater Grange Team arranged for us to be able to view a residential room, visit the shared outside facilities and view the indoor shared facilities through the windows which helped us make the decision that Deewater would be
right for Mum. The design and construction of the residential home has been really well thought out and is very welcoming. Mum is settling in and has been able to personalise her room with photos, pictures and some small fixtures and fittings. Her small patio provides a private area for sitting outside. Mum is enjoying the company of the friendly and helpful staff and very much enjoying the food.
The administrative and management team at Deewater have been really helpful and respond really quickly to any questions or concerns. Visiting is restricted due to the ongoing national rules, however, all staff have done their best to facilitate visiting within the current rules.

As I was unable to go, my son and daughter-in-law were able to arrange a tour outside the building and they were very impressed by the garden and outdoor space and also what they were able to see through the windows. The home also arranged a virtual tour which was impressive and which allowed us to
get a better feel for the place. We had a lot of questions and yet nothing was ever too much for any of the staff. My husband moved in on the 28th August 2020 and I believe that we could not have picked a better place for him. He is settling well and praises the kind and helpful staff every time we ring, and he loves the food too!
Knowing that he is now safe and well cared for is a huge relief.

I have always known that at some stage mum who has vascular dementia would need to move into care and was quite frankly dreading the day. However thanks to the staff at Deewater Grange, I needn't have worried. Mum who is not unsociable but has always chosen to keep to herself is like a new person,
she now has her meals in the dining room, has joined in with Easter afternoon tea in the lounge, and has even taken part in games in the garden. This is down to all the amazing staff, they don't think twice about going the extra mile, e.g. sourcing hard to find DVDs in the local community for mum who loves to watch cricket.
It is a place where the staff really care and it has been such a relief.

Bearing in mind the current dreadful situation, the home has been a complete revelation to me. For the past number of years, I have dreaded "THE DAY" when Mum (a very independent lady to say the least) had to move to a care home but the onset of dementia has made it necessary. Throughout the application
for admittance, the Manager has continually stressed, "give her a couple of weeks and she will be fine" (and I, of course, knew she wouldn't be and would be back home by Sunday). Nothing could be further from the truth. With the lockdown in place, I am unable to visit but the staff are making up for it, they are actively involved with her throughout the day. She has been to more social gatherings in a fortnight than in the previous 20 years, she is eating in the dining room with the other residents and has even made a friend. The staff have made it clear I can ring any time of day and that, in itself, gives massive peace of mind. I know it is early days but so far, it's brill.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for Deewater Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.858 for Deewater Grange is calculated as follows: ( (164 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.858
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deewater Grange is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked for Care UK for most of my adult life, starting out as a healthcare assistant and progressing to my current role as Home Manager. With encouragement from colleagues, I also completed my nursing degree as a mature student.

Being able to work my way up and gain my qualifications (which also include NVQs in health and social care and leadership and management) has been a huge achievement for me and a big career highlight.

In this role, you need to be able to communicate well and have strong leadership and planning skills. Working as a team also means you have to be good at motivating people. It is also important to have a good grasp of budgets, and it is essential to be clear about safeguarding policies and procedures.

The work we do really does make a difference, and that fills me with immense pride. It feels great when we get positive feedback from relatives who can see that their loved ones are receiving the quality care they need.

My favourite part of the day is the time I’m able to spend having a coffee, cake and a chat with residents. Seeing everyone get along well and share special moments really does brighten up each day.

Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my children and grandchildren.
