Mum had a very happy Christmas 2020 at Deewater Grange despite all the restrictions of Covid-19, this was due to the hard work of all the staff team. Even though visitors were not allowed, I could see all the preparations that Mum was involved in via Deewater Grange's Facebook Account. She did all sorts
of things including making decorations and enjoying lots of tasty treats too. Mum loved being outside and there were pictures of her well wrapped up in the lovely gardens. Talking to staff I know they helped Mum to enjoy the letters I sent her because they commented on the family news in them. On Christmas Day itself, there were lovely photographs of Mum with her gift bag from the home and with the gifts the family had sent in. In all the photographs Mum looked very happy and very well. The food must have been good because staff reported how well Mum was eating. (In non-Covid times family can enjoy meals too.) I cannot thank all the staff enough for the wonderful care they took of Mum.

My family and I were so thankful for all the kind and caring staff at Deewater who went above and beyond. My mum received such wonderful care. Nothing was too much trouble and as a family we were able to communicate and receive information at all times of the day. The staff were so kind especially the
carers and nurses. They treated us like we were their own family. Mum also received exceptional care and was kept comfortable and safe and everyone was extremely gentle and kind. We would highly recommend this lovely place.

I have found Deewater Grange to be an excellent care/nursing facility. It is very modern having only opened in February 2020. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and, in particular, the home manager and the customer relations manager have been very professional and informative as to the arrangements
relating to the care of my partner.

Despite Covid-19 restrictions which meant we couldn't enter the home, the Deewater Grange Team arranged for us to be able to view a residential room, visit the shared outside facilities and view the indoor shared facilities through the windows which helped us make the decision that Deewater would be
right for Mum. The design and construction of the residential home has been really well thought out and is very welcoming. Mum is settling in and has been able to personalise her room with photos, pictures and some small fixtures and fittings. Her small patio provides a private area for sitting outside. Mum is enjoying the company of the friendly and helpful staff and very much enjoying the food.
The administrative and management team at Deewater have been really helpful and respond really quickly to any questions or concerns. Visiting is restricted due to the ongoing national rules, however, all staff have done their best to facilitate visiting within the current rules.

As I was unable to go, my son and daughter-in-law were able to arrange a tour outside the building and they were very impressed by the garden and outdoor space and also what they were able to see through the windows. The home also arranged a virtual tour which was impressive and which allowed us to
get a better feel for the place. We had a lot of questions and yet nothing was ever too much for any of the staff. My husband moved in on the 28th August 2020 and I believe that we could not have picked a better place for him. He is settling well and praises the kind and helpful staff every time we ring, and he loves the food too!
Knowing that he is now safe and well cared for is a huge relief.

I am extremely happy with the care and attention my friend is receiving and content that she is safe and very well looked after. She has a lovely room on the ground floor and is able to walk straight out into the garden and enjoy the fresh air. All the staff are so kind and very friendly, and nothing
appears too much trouble. Yes, I am very pleased with Deewater Grange and couldn’t imagine a better place for my friend to be.

I have always known that at some stage mum who has vascular dementia would need to move into care and was quite frankly dreading the day. However thanks to the staff at Deewater Grange, I needn't have worried. Mum who is not unsociable but has always chosen to keep to herself is like a new person,
she now has her meals in the dining room, has joined in with Easter afternoon tea in the lounge, and has even taken part in games in the garden. This is down to all the amazing staff, they don't think twice about going the extra mile, e.g. sourcing hard to find DVDs in the local community for mum who loves to watch cricket.
It is a place where the staff really care and it has been such a relief.

Bearing in mind the current dreadful situation, the home has been a complete revelation to me. For the past number of years, I have dreaded "THE DAY" when Mum (a very independent lady to say the least) had to move to a care home but the onset of dementia has made it necessary. Throughout the application
for admittance, the Manager has continually stressed, "give her a couple of weeks and she will be fine" (and I, of course, knew she wouldn't be and would be back home by Sunday). Nothing could be further from the truth. With the lockdown in place, I am unable to visit but the staff are making up for it, they are actively involved with her throughout the day. She has been to more social gatherings in a fortnight than in the previous 20 years, she is eating in the dining room with the other residents and has even made a friend. The staff have made it clear I can ring any time of day and that, in itself, gives massive peace of mind. I know it is early days but so far, it's brill.

From my first contact with the home, the staff went out of their way to understand my mum’s needs and ensure they could be accommodated. We had to move quickly with the developing threat from COVID-19 and if it had not been for the home’s prompt and diligent actions, my mum would not have been able
to get into the home before the doors were closed to new residents. Now as a resident, my mum has settled in very quickly; she loves her room with its own patio overlooking the garden and is starting to enjoy all the daily entertainment and interaction with the other residents. Despite the current COVID restrictions, I am still able to contact my mum using the home’s video call system. Only yesterday, my mum told me how much fun she is having with her new friends and how pleasant and caring all the cares are, nothing is too much trouble. Having to be physically isolated from my ageing mum at these challenging times, I could not want for her to be in a better place.

My father-in-law had a stroke in October last year - we needed to find him a care home which would suit his nursing needs.
We were in the luxurious position to be able to choose a home which was similar to his flat prior to the stroke.
We went to visit Deewater Grange straight away. On arrival, we
were shown to the cafe area at the front of the building and met by the wonderful CRM, who put my mother-in-law and I at ease straight away. She is so confident, bubbly and smiley - just what we needed in the situation we found ourselves in. We had a tour and my mother-in-law was sold. A cafe (with cakes!), a hairdresser, cinema room and bar, en-suite rooms. dining room (laid like a restaurant!), beautiful lounges and a spa bathroom - what's not to like?
The staff too are all brilliant! Knowledgeable, helpful and very kind - they can't do enough for my father-in-law.
I can highly recommend Deewater Grange and once you can visit (after this lockdown) - do - you won't be disappointed!

My mother-in-law wanted to spend time with my father-in-law (of course!) so joined him for a couple of weeks respite. She is registered disabled and had been managing at the flat with assistance - but she was just managing, not really living.
She enjoyed her 2 weeks so much that she decided she wanted to stay on a permanent basis. Luckily we could arrange that for her.
It is so wonderful that she is so well cared for - she is encouraged to eat and doesn't need to worry about a thing - meals cooked (BBQs!), medication given, laundry done, bathrooms cleaned and beds made. She gets to spend time with my father-in-law - as they've done for 54 years. They can watch films, eat together, complete activities together and go for a coffee together. There will be day trips too once this lockdown is over.
She's walking more too as her confidence grows. She feels like she's on a permanent holiday and that can't be a bad thing at all!

My brother and sister-in-law arranged for my parents to move into Deewater Grange (I, unfortunately, live miles away) after my father became very ill and was no longer able to care for my mother. They have very different needs and from what I have seen moving them both in has transformed their lives.
The care given from the staff is exceptional. The surroundings are fantastic and we can all live without worry that my parents are being very well looked after in such troubled times. I could not speak more highly of what I saw and the kindness and understanding that we have been given as a family.

We'd looked at a number of nursing homes when we were recommended to view Deewater Grange. We were a little apprehensive as it was so new that it had no ratings which is naturally something that you would look at when considering a home for a loved one. Our minds were put at ease after visiting Deewater
on a couple of occasions; being shown around by a lady who answered all of our questions and was fantastic in explaining the process, paperwork and generally supporting us in moving Grandpa in (actually staying after hours to be able to greet him on his first night). We regularly visit and are always greeted with a smile and tales of what Grandpa has been up to. He is content and very well cared for, and tells us how nice everyone and everything is, a particular highlight being the food which is wonderful. The cinema room (with bar), hobby room, beautiful lounges and gardens are fantastic. Grandpa has a very comfortable room with high-quality furniture and his own patio.

My father (aged 94) has been in Deewater Grange now for one month.
The home is brand new and beautifully decorated, more like a five-star hotel than a care home, with comfortable, cosy sitting rooms, a cinema, cafe, hairdresser and attractive restaurant where family and friends are encouraged to join
residents for meals. All bedrooms are of a good size, light and airy and have access onto a patio and garden area.
However it is the staff who make it such a wonderful place to be, not only the carers but receptionists, maintenance staff, chefs and managers, are all so kind, caring and friendly, they always have Dad's best interests at heart and nothing seems too much trouble. In addition family and friends are welcomed and made to feel part of this very special 'family'.
My father's health has improved substantially from the time he arrived and he is much happier in himself. I am delighted that I found Deewater Grange and cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am staying here for 3 weeks whilst we have our bathroom refurbished and was the second resident to move in. From the moment I made contact with Deewater, I had a wonderful welcome. It is an absolute pleasure staying here. All the staff are kind, caring, respectful, empower and enable each and every
one of us, and are fun to be around! Deewater is furnished to an exceptional standard. I have enjoyed decorating cakes and biscuits, making lots of things for Valentines Day and have had a haircut. The food is delicious always presented so beautifully. I am going to go home a stone heavier! My family and friends are always made to feel welcome and have peace of mind that I am safe and happy here. I have enjoyed meeting and chatting to other residents and will really miss everyone when it is time to say goodbye. I do hope that I will be able to come and stay with my 'Deewater Family' again in the future.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.798) out of 10 for Deewater Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.848 for Deewater Grange is calculated as follows: ( (181 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.848
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deewater Grange is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked for Care UK for most of my adult life, starting out as a healthcare assistant and progressing to my current role as Home Manager. With encouragement from colleagues, I also completed my nursing degree as a mature student.

Being able to work my way up and gain my qualifications (which also include NVQs in health and social care and leadership and management) has been a huge achievement for me and a big career highlight.

In this role, you need to be able to communicate well and have strong leadership and planning skills. Working as a team also means you have to be good at motivating people. It is also important to have a good grasp of budgets, and it is essential to be clear about safeguarding policies and procedures.

The work we do really does make a difference, and that fills me with immense pride. It feels great when we get positive feedback from relatives who can see that their loved ones are receiving the quality care they need.

My favourite part of the day is the time I’m able to spend having a coffee, cake and a chat with residents. Seeing everyone get along well and share special moments really does brighten up each day.

Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my children and grandchildren.
