My mum who has dementia has been attending The Secret Garden for the last few months until Mum needed to go into a care home. All the staff at the Secret Garden (both male & female) have been absolutely wonderful, I cannot sing their praises enough. They are so kind & caring and very helpful. I cannot recommend the Secret Garden enough! They were so lovely with my mum, wish I had found them earlier! A big thank you to all the staff.
Sian had attentive care during her time, The home adjusted her table at meal times as she requested. Her room was very suitable.
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. It truly means a lot to us to know that your sister-in-law felt happy, safe, and engaged during her time with us. We are passionate about creating a welcoming and joyful environment where everyone can enjoy the outdoors, make new friends, and...
Thank you for taking such great care of my sister-in-law by allowing her into the Secret Garden whilst she had her respite care with a care home for 3 weeks. We could go on holiday knowing she was going to have fun, fab, cheery company and lots of activities and be safe. The building and garden are just perfect as she loves being outdoors and is game for any quiz and activity. Thank you always for enchaing her already great zest for life despite her disabilities.
My initial experience with the Secret Garden has been very positive. Nobody that I have met this far has been anything less than polite, respectful, helpful and professional. My only quibble is with access, security is very important but waiting outside in the rain is not fun.
Thank you so much for your kind words-we're really pleased to hear that your experience with the Secret Garden has been so positive and that our team has made you feel welcomed and supported.
We also appreciate your feedback about access. While security is a top priority for us, we understand...
My mum has been going to the Secret Garden for nearly a year. I've noticed how happy she seems after attending. In general her mental health has improved in leaps and bounds. Mum was very lonely and confused when left on her own at home. The Secret Garden has been an absolute life line for her and has made so many new friends.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this lovely review. It truly means the world to us to hear how much of a positive difference the Secret Garden has made to your mum's life. Knowing that she feels happier, less lonely, and has formed new friendships is exactly why we do what we do. We're so glad she's part of our community, and we're grateful for your kind words and support.
The level of care and provided entertainment and stimulation in excellent. The carers are wonderful and attended the personal, individual needs to my husband.
Many thanks for your kind review its a pleasure to have your husband join us at the Secret Garden
Lovely carers and ambience.
Thank you so much for our review the team and I are all very proud of the Secret Garden
Not only do the team look after their guests to the best standards, but the advice and support I have personally received has been invaluable, and I am forever grateful for The Secret Garden.
I have found the management and staff of the Secret Garden outstanding. The friendship show to the residents excellent. I would recommend the Secret Garden to everybody.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're so pleased to hear that you've found the team at the Secret Garden to be friendly and supportive. It means a lot to know you'd recommend us to others - that's the best compliment we could receive! We'll be sure to share your kind words with everyone here
Very positive experience to date. Initial contact was helpful and detailed, the first group meeting went well, and my wife felt very much at ease. Staff have been caring and thoughtful and make a great effort to ensure newcomers are relaxed and comfortable. Games and quizzes, plus kind banter, make for an interesting visit and keep everyone on their toes (metaphorically). I am told that lunch was appetising and convivial, and coffee and biscuits filled the gaps. Bottom line, we are very content with what the Secret Garden offers and value the group interaction in supporting recovery from a previous stroke. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We're delighted to hear that you and your wife have had such a positive experience with us. It's wonderful to know that the activities, company, and care provided by our team have helped create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. We'll be sure to share...
Very helpful and friendly activities and programme not as interesting and creative as they used to be. Probably due to staff retirement. Meals are much appreciate but not as good as they were 12 months ago. I imagine this is due to reduced budget.
Secret Garden is a warm safe place marked by a dedicated team who understand and dealt with all sorts of my needs and problems which can occur manning an establishment like this. The prime object is to make sure every person enjoys it is safe and want to come again.
Thanks, The Secret Garden is a team from Guests, Families and the staff and thats why uts a special place
I always find staff very friendly and helpful. My husband visits the day centre. He is more than cared for. He always enjoys the activities and this company and the love care and support he is given from the staff. The management runs a well organised centre and ensure staff users and all visitors are welcome. Recommend centre.
The manager also made visiting professionals welcome to view Mum in her own environment, he frequently re-organised transport for Mum when we needed to change days to cater for last minute appointments. Thank you to all of you. You really do make a difference and should be applauded for doing so.
Many thanks for your kind words. It has been our absolute pleasure to have this opportunity to help and get to know you all but especially your mum who is fab.
We don't know where we'd be without the Hub. Mum's visits get her out of the house and mixing with others and I always feel I can contact the manager or any of the other employees to chat about her stay.
Thank you to the manager and the team!
Thank you for such wonderful comments about the manager and his team at our Secret Garden Hub. It is our pleasure having mum regular attending the day centre.
Dad really looks forward to his twice-weekly visit to Secret Garden. He has made some really close friendships and enjoys gentle mental and physical activities put on, especially the singalongs with visiting singers. Dad is vegetarian and the options aren't that good.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review for the Secret Garden Hub. Please be assured that we will speak with our catering team and look at more Vegetarian Options for Dad.
For years I have received quality care at the Secret Garden, this continues.
I do have a problem with accounts though since January 2024, I would receive an overdue notice even though my husband only did half a day (4 hours). I have written several times to no avail.
Thank you for your feedback on your husband's experience at our Secret Garden day hub. We're so pleased he's enjoying his visits. We will pass all your feedback on to the manager and the team.
My husband enjoys going to the Secret Garden, he has increased from one to two days recently and he likes it so much. The staff are very helpful and caring. He enjoys the activities, particularly singing, quizzes and games. He has vascular dementia and this can make things difficult for him but the staff are always very considerate and understanding.
The Secret Garden Day Care has been a valuable place to discover. My Mum was very reluctant to give it a try but after the first visit, it was obvious that the experience had made a great impact on her. The staff are lovely, kind people and the food, drinks and activities have made her day much more bearable. She goes in anxious but quickly reassured and comes out smiling.

Meet the Team (2)
Mark became manager of the Secret Garden Hub in September 2017 after joining the team six months earlier.
Mark had a varied career before settling in the care sector. He has worked in local insurance, aviation and computer support firms before reassessing and retraining. The motivation to change was influenced by his Granny; she got dementia and her care was shockingly bad. When Mark visited her he found he was not only entertaining her but also the other residents. Her influence still stays with Mark particularly when planning activities at the Hub and always ensuring nothing is patronising; “Our guests are adults and we treat them as such”.
Mark has completed his Level 5 in Health and Social Care, in addition to CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Dementia Link Leader.
What does Mark particularly value about working at the Hub? “You are always learning. I love history and I am always learning about the past by people who have lived through it.” “I’m proud that we have made the Hub a success, it’s brilliant to be able to help so many people and their families; when people come to the Secret Garden their families become part of the Hub too.”
Outside of work Mark spends his time with his family, their dog and renovating their house!
Hannah Landon-Hammond has worked across a variety of roles, but it was her early experience in retail and cinemas that helped her realise she was looking for something more meaningful. That sense of purpose was found when she began working in a dementia specialist care home, where she spent nearly three years developing her skills, knowledge and passion for supporting others.
Keen to explore a more creative and engagement-focused path, Hannah moved into activities, and since then, she has grown within the charity, progressing in her career and embracing opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.
Now part of the team at the Secret Garden, Hannah values the strong sense of community and connection, describing it as a place where guests and staff feel like one extended family. She is passionate about creating meaningful experiences and supporting each individual to live well.
Hannah has completed Dementia Link training, as well as NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. She also has a longstanding interest in psychology, having studied it at A Level, which continues to inform her thoughtful and person-centred approach to care.
Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family, painting and being in nature. She is also musically creative, having taught herself to play the guitar, ukulele and, more recently, the handpan. Her creativity plays an important role in her work, helping her bring energy, empathy and fresh ideas to the experiences she creates for others.
