Liberty House is a beautiful and modern care home offering residential, dementia and respite care. The home has 81 furnished, spacious and private en-suite bedrooms in varying colour palettes to choose from.

With fantastic facilities and the latest technology to plan high quality, person-centred care, residents' health and wellbeing are the number one priority. A team of experienced, compassionate carers offer discreet personal care and provide company and companionship, and are available around the clock. The home's Wellbeing Lead takes into account interests and pastimes to plan a varied activities programme which are stimulating and meaningful. Living at Liberty House means feeling part of a community, where support and friendship awaits.

Liberty House offers a variety of social shared spaces and dining areas to benefit residents, including a hairdressing and beauty salon, cinema, café, activities rooms, garden as well as a bar and bistro, to encourage independent living in a safe and stimulating environment. Mum and Dad have lived at Liberty House from January 2022 (Mum) and June 2022 (Dad). The staff are lovely and very encouraging to my parents. They treat them with respect and empathy. Nothing is too much trouble. My parents especially like the entertainment. Dad likes to watch, and Mum likes to join
in, in particular the singing. The member of staff who runs the entertainment is so lovely and perfect for the job! Mum says the food has improved lately with more variety, is there a new chef? All staff are wonderful, especially the members of staff in reception and others in particular.

Lovely environment, always clean and tidy.
Staff members are always friendly and welcoming.
There does however appear to be a high turnover of both staff and management.
The wellbeing lead does a fantastic job but doesn't have any help so a lot for one person to do, in my opinion.
I have had a few
issues regarding the personal preferences of Mum's care that are important to Mum and us, but things have improved following discussions with the manager and care staff.
Overall, I am satisfied that my mum is happy and well cared for at Liberty House. Thank you.

Overall, Liberty House is a lovely building, and the rooms are spacious and have good ensuite facilities. The staff are helpful and friendly but not enough of them. The food is very processed, with no option for brown bread and limited to two slices of bread at a time. Not enough decent vegetables and
rarely any fruit. We did take in our own but not very good for the amount you pay each week. No food first thing in the morning, had to wait for breakfast, which again varied between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Activities are limited, but again we realise this is due to a shortage of staff. Also, each day, the service for drinks was very dependent on which members of staff were on duty.

We are very pleased at the way our mother has been able to settle and be happy at Liberty House.
On the upside,
- The facilities themselves are uplifting and that counts for a lot.
- I joined in one of the activities (exercise session) it was well attended and very good indeed.
- The team went
to significant lengths to get residents involved in the above activity, including those with major mobility issues.
On the downside,
- Sometimes a pervasive smell of urine is in the air.
- My mum is unable to operate the TV, a simpler and more robust remote is needed.
- Reading matter (papers) for the residents should be readily available.

Since my mum moved into Liberty House last year, she has been really happy and settled there. Her room is extremely comfortable, with everything she needs and it is always spotlessly clean, whenever we pop in. She feels really well cared for by all the staff, who always do their best for her, even though
they have been stretched lately. She has made friends and enjoys all the activities plus the facilities, such as the hairdressers and the cinema room in the home. The fact that she feels secure there also means that she is sleeping well and that, combined with the care she receives, means that she looks and feels much better than she did when living in her own house. We would highly recommend Liberty House.

If you are seeking Advanced/Nursing Dementia Care, look elsewhere. Note the Liberty House website states they offer early dementia care. Liberty House lacks the depth of knowledge, expertise and empathy to handle the complex needs of those with advanced dementia who may not highlight when they are uncomfortable
or in pain. So my sister did not complain when her feet had blood blisters, her heels were sore and cracked and her toenails needed cutting (she spent her days pacing the corridors). Furthermore, simple things did not happen such as turning on her radio (she loved music), watering a pot plant or maintaining cut flowers (so the flowers died). Involvement in such activities would have enhanced my sister’s life, and so were opportunities lost. The lack of nursing dementia care means that the administering of end-of-life medication is delayed pending the arrival of a District Nurse or Doctor. Many of the staff were warm and genuinely caring but sometimes staff communication was insensitive and distressing.

If you or a relative are looking for a lovely looking care home with luxurious surrounds then this is the place for you, but if you have a relative that actually requires care and suffers with dementia please read this first. They profess to be a dementia specialist - I totally disagree. They gave my
mum 28 days notice because of behaviour (fair enough) but the next day sent her off in an ambulance to the local hospital for them to deal with, giving us no opportunity to find a home for her. The hospital rang the home to say she needed to be taken back and they said there was no room, even though all her stuff was still in the room that we had previously paid for. When we collected mum's belongings we were given a box which was missing coats/shoes and clothes but received no help or sympathy from staff. Mum also managed to escape twice - Unacceptable, I could go on but you make your mind up.

I cannot thank the manager and the staff enough for looking after mum at very short notice for a two week respite care break just recently. She settled in straight away and was always very happy and smiley when we visited her. She was very sociable with the staff and residents and enjoyed participating
in the excellent activities which were provided on a daily basis. We will have no hesitation whatsoever about sending mum to Liberty House for a little holiday again, should respite care be needed in the future.

I had a review with the manager and then with another member of staff. In each case, I expressed my concerns about a lack of real communication and personal care. I have the impression that this will change and I have already heard that arrangements will be made for me to meet the key worker. When my
sister first came to the home in June 2021 I was not given sight of her care plan, knowledge of the key worker, and her role and I had to ask for a review. The current manager is definitely more proactive.

My nanna has been living at Liberty House for 5 months. During that time, we have found the staff always try so hard to ensure all my nannas well being and care needs are met in a professional and caring manner. Every effort was made to help her settle in during a very difficult and stressful time.

Very happy with care of mother despite difficult conditions due to Covid. It was very difficult at first for her to settle as she really wanted to stay in her own home and couldn’t accept that she was unable to manage at home. She is now relaxed and accepts that all her worries about day to day living
at home have disappeared.

Very happy with mum in law's care since admittance. She seems a lot more settled and as a family, we have the peace of mind that she is being well looked after. It might help if the staff actually waited to check the outcome of the lateral flows before allowing visitors in. As of now my Nanna, who was just picked up from a week of respite care, is now on the end of life care after contracting covid during her stay.
Won’t even start on the poor care she received
whilst in there.

Liberty House and staff have gone above and beyond helping us as a family with the care of my mother-in-law. We found ourselves, like many during the pandemic, in an extremely stressful situation of finding a care home. Liberty exceeded our expectations keeping us informed, reassured and available at
all times. The improvement in both my mother-in-law's physical and mental well-being has been incredible since her arrival at the end of January. Her walking, speech and general demeanour is vastly improved.
We, as a family, cannot recommend this wonderful home enough to other families who are looking for a safe, stimulating, friendly and professional environment for their nearest and dearest.

My mother moved into Liberty House in October 2020 and unfortunately due to medical reasons had to move into a nursing home in April 2021. I have been extremely pleased with the care given to Mum by every member of staff. The management staff have been excellent and I would strongly recommend Liberty

I can't praise this home enough from the minute the lady I look after came in she was so happy. She said she feels like a queen. They also accepted her dog which was a massive thing for her. The residents love the dog as do the carers. I doubt I could find a better place anywhere for that I am so grateful.

Job Title: Home Manager

My name is Tracey, and I began my career in care as a night care assistant in 2003. In 2011, I worked in a nursing home, where I was fortunate to be supported by some incredible managers who encouraged me to develop my skills and gain relevant qualifications.


I later moved to a residential care home, taking on responsibilities around medication and stepping into a more supervisory role. As my experience grew, I progressed through senior positions including Senior Carer, Unit Manager, and Deputy Manager, before being offered my first Home Manager position in 2015.


In 2018, I transitioned into a regional role, which I held until 2022. Over the years, I’ve been involved in managing and commissioning new homes, and have continued to grow professionally with the support of excellent mentors. I’ve achieved all my NVQ qualifications and recently completed my Level 6 degree.

I began my career in 2005 as a building caretaker in Rome, Italy, where I gained valuable experience in maintaining buildings and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for residents. After 15 years, I moved to the UK and took on the role of site supervisor in the school sector, further enhancing my skills in maintenance, problem-solving, and community collaboration.


Joining Runwood Homes at Liberty House has been a fantastic opportunity for me. I take great pride in my work, ensuring the home is always in excellent condition and providing a safe, comfortable space for both residents and staff. My goal is to help make Liberty House one of the best care homes in Doncaster by upholding high standards and supporting the wonderful team here.

I absolutely love my role, spending quality time with residents and helping them make the most of every moment. Cherishing these connections and creating joyful memories is the highlight of my work.


Outside of work, I enjoy time with my daughter and my lively cocker spaniel puppy, Penny. Most people know me as the one with the crazy hair—I’ve always been affectionately called the punk of Cantley.
