Canterbury House is a purpose-built care home providing residential and residential dementia care for up to 66 older people. They are welcoming new residents for permanent care and shorter stays.

The facilities at the home include a hair and beauty salon, coffee shop area, quiet lounges and much more. Each bedroom suite has an en suite wet room to support privacy and dignity.

The team get to know residents' interests from the first instance and the Lifestyle Team support residents to live life as they wish. All colleagues are given regular training to ensure they deliver person-centred care. Meals are cooked freshly on site and residents are included in planning menus.

Canterbury House is operated by Anchor. Anchor is England's largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care to older people, with more than 60 years of experience.

The premises is always clean and tidy. All the staff are welcoming and helpful. Those I know well greet me by name. Any issue raised is dealt with promptly and efficiently. The office staff are very helpful with recommendations and suggestions e.g. recently a mobile dentist. Residents are cared for
with thoughtfulness.

Such a happy and positive environment. Dad is so settled as a resident. There is so much for the people staying at Canterbury House to do. Wonderful black tie evening, singing and dancing this month. The food is amazing. The rooms are beautiful and the staff are so caring. We feel Dad is cared for in
the way he needs to meet all his needs.

Amazing staff and care home. My 97-year-old mum has been living at Canterbury House Care Home for ten months and the care she has received has been really great. She can be a difficult lady and is very feisty but the staff all love her. She was quite ill when she went to live at Canterbury House but
she looks great now. The staff are always happy and cheerful and it makes a bright and relaxed environment. They do whatever they can to make her happy and 99% of the time...it works, an achievement in itself. The facilities there are excellent, compared to other care homes in the area. The management at the home are lovely, although I can't mention names, they know who they are! Thank you everybody at Canterbury House, Faversham.

This is my fourth visit to Canterbury House Care Home. Each time I've been impressed by the welcoming environment, caring staff and very clean. My stepmother is very happy here and makes full use of the afternoon activities.

After a short stay, I decided that after such care I could not go home and struggle alone and so decided to be permanent. I am impressed by all aspects - care, cleanliness, food etc.

Been to visit friends and found they are so happy and being treated so well. The staff are excellent at their job, so clean and caring. Food looks amazing every time I have visited, nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend it as a lovely care home.

We have found the care home to be full of staff that really do care about their residents. It has taken a month for both Mum and carers to get used to each other but now they have a laugh and a joke together when they are feeding her.
My one fault with them is that the residents in their rooms aren't
always included in activities.

I was surprised when I came in. It is beautifully decorated. Staff seem very pleasant. My nan seems happy, she likes her room and says it is very clean, it is very warm and homely. My nan states she is much happier than she thought she would be.

Myself, brother and our partners had the pleasure of enjoying a lovely lunch with our dad today as it’s his birthday tomorrow.
The food was very enjoyable and the care staff could not do enough to make our lunch special. The table had balloons and a birthday banner.
The cook made a lovely birthday
cake too.
Thank you all so much.
Our dad is so very well looked after in the home. We could not ask for better. I would highly recommend the home if anyone is looking.

I cannot put into words the relief we felt to find my mother-in-law in such a clean, well-organised and happy care home. Most importantly, the level of genuine concern for her levels of comfort and happiness shown by the carers was quite exceptional - second to none! We live abroad and can now relax
knowing that she is being looked after so well.

Wonderful care home which is light and spacious. Tastefully decorated with lots of different seating areas. Attention to detail is amazing and a great deal of thought has been given to every aspect of the home; from the table linen in the dining room, wide corridors, the interesting objet d’art and
pictures on the wall to the delightful tea-room. It even has a resident’s cinema and there are lots of activities.
The staff are incredible - so caring, good-humoured and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. It’s obvious that the care and well-being of the residents is paramount and visitors are given a warm welcome. This care home in my opinion is a five-star establishment! My mum has settled in well as a result of the truly amazing staff and terrific environment. I would have no hesitation in recommending Canterbury House Care Home and its exceptional team to anyone.

This purpose-built facility ticks all the boxes. Unfortunately due to Covid some of the activities had to be cancelled.

Having stayed in one of the rooms for eight nights when my mum was very poorly over the Christmas/New Year period I can confirm that Canterbury House Care Home has the feeling of a lovely hotel but with a family atmosphere. I was made to feel so welcome. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable
(thank you housekeeping) and the resident’s laundry is done with great care. I can also say that while I lived there the cheerful, good-humoured staff remained the same at all times. Both the day and night staff are compassionate, professional, good-humoured, patient and caring every single minute of every day. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum was never treated as just another resident. The staff took the time to get to know her and I feel they really, truly cared about her. I am completely humbled by everything they do every day and take my hat off to them as they are not often shown much gratitude! I feel so lucky to have found Canterbury House and can never thank the staff enough for what they do.

Lacey

Lacey Waddington

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2022

Lacey Joined Canterbury House as a Care manager in April 2022 and has recently become Home Manager.


Lacey has 14 years experience of working in the hospital & healthcare industry. Lacey started working in a care home at the age of 16 as a catering assistant and found her passion for care. During her time in care, she has completed level 5 in health and social and is currently completing a level 7 senior management programme.


Lacey’s passion is to provide the best service in a person-centred way for all residents and to support them to continue to lead a fulfilled and enriched life.


Lacey supports by leading and developing the home team, as well as giving and enabling opportunities for the residents to create meaningful moments.


In her spare time, Lacey enjoys spending time with her family. Lacey told us “I have three daughters and a husband who keep me very busy with various activities and many trips out.”

Declan

Declan King

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2021

Declan joined Halcyon in May 2021 as Front of House Manager.


Declan has over 10 years’ experience working within the health sector in one of London's prestigious private hospitals and a large care home provider as a senior administrator. Providing support with the Homes teams, residents along with the daily operations, finance and HR.


During this period, he worked part-time to enable him to complete his university degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. He also spent time in Africa working with a conservation team.


Declan always brings a cool calm and collected approach to his role has a great sense of humour and is usually chuckling away at something. He brings a uniqueness to the home. He has an encyclopedia mind of knowledge for animal facts which residents and staff adore.


When Declan is not working, he runs and socialises with friends, family and his dogs.
