The home is very well managed and feels welcoming and exceptionally well organised. The activities are varied and caters for all interests. My mother has received excellent care in the nearly 3 years in which she has been a resident. She frequently says how lucky she is to be at Barchester Cumberland Grange (which she can remember where she is!!). She is very settled. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere at the home, and it is delightful to see the residents engaged in the activities. I do feel it provides a warm, family setting, which is so important for relatives to experience. I would recommend it highly.
Thank you so much for your review, it means so much to the whole team to receive your feedback. It is a pleasure to care for Mum at Cumberland Grange, and we really enjoy your visits. We all wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
My mother is on the Memory Lane floor of Cumberland Grange and has dementia.I visit her regularly and can state rhe following. Her room is always warm, clean, and homely. She is happy and likes the staff. She always looks great and is offered regular activities and trips. Her meals are frequent and beautifully made and presented. The carers are hard working, good humoured, and friendly. They are competant , and honest (a quality I truly appreciate).Despite my frequent visits at the busiest of times I am always made welcome, updated on my mums latest capers, and made aware of any areas for concern and any remedial action necessary.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. We are so pleased that your dear mother is happy here with us. It is such a privilege to care for her. We look forward to seeing you soon!
I think it is a splendid home. I am very well cared for, very kind and caring people. I know I need looking after, I am at the age I need someone looking after me. I can't imagine someone doing it better thankyou.
What a truly heart-warming review from one of our very own and wonderful residents. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. It is a real honour and a huge privilege to have you here and care for you!
All the staff are a happy team and they are kind and helpful. The management team are efficient and very good and always available to answer questions. The carers team take care of his medical needs very well.
The activities on offer are varied and interesting and include outings. My friend was taken to an exhibition in Exeter. Everyone is encouraged to join in but there is no pressure.
My friend appreciates and enjoys the church services held a couple of times a month.
Cumberland Grange is an oustanding home all round.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. It is a real honour to be entrusted to care for your dear friend. It is so great to read your lovely words and I look forward to sharing them with the team, who I know will be just as thrilled. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you soon!
They have activities daily, morning and afternoon for those who wish to take part. The mini bus is also used weekly.

What a truly wonderful review. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely words about Cumberland and the team. It means an awful lot to us all. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Our mother has been a resident at Barchester Cumberland Grange for a few months (this is her second stay) and I have to say that the whole set up is fabulous. The accommodation is 5 star, as is the setting, the food, the service and the daily cakes.!!!. With excellence normally measured at 5 stars, I have to say that the staff and management would score far higher in my view. They are all truly wonderful. The care they give, the welcome we receive, and the genuine patience and affection they share with everyone makes the Cumberland an outstanding residential home. You should all be incredibly proud of the environment that you have created...oh, and did I mention the cakes.!!!
Thank you so much for your truly wonderful review. It is a joy to read and we are very grateful that you took the time to share your experience with us. It is a real pleasure having your dear mum here with us. We look forward to seeing you soon (enjoy the cake!).
We would recommend Cumberland Grange to anyone looking for residential care.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. Your kind words will mean a lot to the team. Your dear mum is wonderful and it is a real privilege to care for her. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Cannot commend ALL staff highly enough. They know all residents extremely well, communicate regularly with relatives and effectively create a family atmosphere.
Mum certainly doesn't want for activities, trips or hot chocolate!
This is the gold standard!
What a truly wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share such lovely words. It is an absolute honour to care for your dear mum. She is a huge part of our home and we feel very lucky to care for her. We look forward to seeing you soon!
The home is a modern, purpose-built building with several spacious communal areas. It is kept warm throughout the year.
The staff are, without exception, caring, friendly and cheerful. This includes seemingly small gestures which mean a lot - such as a friendly chat or a reassuring touch on the arm. The friendliness and kindness extends not only to residents, but also to their families. As my mother says, the staff aren't kind and helpful only when visitors are around: they are like that all the time.
In my view, the Cumberland Grange management have got the culture spot-on. In my mother's words, if you need to be in a care home, you wouldn't find anywhere nicer than here.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Such lovely words which will mean very much to the team, so thank you! It is really important to me to know that our residents and their loved ones feel so positive about Cumberland Grange. We are really proud of our family feel culture where everyone is...
The staff are all so kind, attentive & patient with the residents. The staff appear to be a family who come together and help one another in their individual roles and seem to have a nice friendship.
The activities are stimulating & enjoyable as I experienced them myself. The entertainment staff are active & enthusiastic.
The food is excellent and there are always snacks left out for residents to enjoy at their leisure.
All in all the home is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere to it.
Unfortunately the cost of a stay is expensive.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. I am so pleased that you and your dear mum were really happy with the care, activities and food here at Cumberland. We are really proud of the family feel home that we have created and it is so lovely to know that you felt comfortable to join in with activities. We are always here if you need us!
My first contact with Cumberland Grange was great - the lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful and I arranged a visit. When I visited, I was very impressed with the facilities, how kind the staff were with the residents and how calm the atmosphere was. It was a very pleasant experience.
Mum absolutely loved her stay there, she commented how lovely and kind everyone was and how she'd been very well looked after. She made a special comment about how great the food was and she was encouraged to join in the activities that were happening each day if she wanted to.
When she returned home she was happy, mobilising much better than she had been previously and was full of praise for Cumberland Grange. So a huge thank you to everyone there for making Mum so welcome. You are all fantastic!
Thank you so much for your truly wonderful review. We are so pleased that Mum had such a great stay with us. It was our absolute pleasure to care for her. Thank you for entrusting us, we know how much of a big decision it is when choosing the right care home for your loved one. Mum is welcome back anytime!

I started my career in Care at the age of 17, which was just over 16 years ago now. My passion for Care started at a young age as my parents opened a Care Home when I was just 11 years old. Over the years, I have worked in various roles within the Care sector, gaining lots of valuable knowledge and experience along the way. With everything that I do, our residents always come first. Enriching the lives of those within my care is my priority, ensuring my residents are well cared for and happy and living a life which offers independence with support whenever needed.
My door is always open for my residents, their family members and my team. I am always happy to help with any questions that you may have, and if you would like to come and take a look around our wonderful home, please get in touch.

Hello there, I’m Avril, one of the Resident Ambassadors here at Cumberland Grange. Welcome to our home!
I came to Cumberland Grange in August 2022 after relocating from another care home just outside of London. My sister-in-law who lives in Exeter told me about Cumberland Grange, and lo and behold, I arrived here and felt very lucky to call this my new home. At this time, it hadn’t been open long and I was welcomed with opened arms and settled very quickly.
This is no ordinary care home here at Cumberland, we have a beautiful home, the team is a happy team, and us residents are a great bunch.

Hi, I'm Chris, Head Chef here at Cumberland Grange.
I have a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector, having previously worked in some of Devon's most established restaurants and gastro pubs. My passion is using locally sourced food, and creating daily menus that reflect the great variety of seasonal produce available. Overseeing the kitchen I ensure that every meal my team prepares is always freshly home-cooked, served and presented with care.
I enjoy getting to know all of our new residents, ensuring that I understand their likes, dislikes and preferences and aiming to incorporate all of these into our menu selections. Along with my kitchen team, we strive to create a menu that delivers the home-from-home dining experience that everyone living with us genuinely enjoys.
Outside of work, my passion for cooking continues and I enjoy experimenting with new flavours and recipes for my smoker and BBQ and absolutely love all things baking.

Hello, I'm Lorna and I've been working in the care sector since 2009 and this is quite simply the best job I've ever had! My career began in the community care sector, supporting people living in their own homes across the mid and east Devon area, first as a carer and then progressing to the role of Care Manager, focusing on producing person-centred care plans for new service users.
My great passion however is to meet and support people and I just love the close personal connections that my role allows me to build with all of our residents. For me, everyone here is just like family and I really value these special relationships that I continue to build with everyone living here on a daily basis.

Hello, my name is Cazumi, and I am a Care Assistant here at Cumberland Grange.
I currently work as a bank as I also attend university alongside my work. I have worked in care before, and I had to pause working because of relocating. At the start of my term, I felt like a part of me was missing, which was taking care of residents, spending time with them, laughing and smiling with them.
