Hello, my name is Beth and I am the General Manager here at Cumberland Grange.

I started my career in Care at the age of 17, which was just over 16 years ago now. My passion for Care started at a young age as my parents opened a Care Home when I was just 11 years old. Over the years I have worked in various different roles within the Care sector, gaining lots of valuable knowledge and experience along the way. With everything that I do, our residents always come first. Enriching the lives of those within my care is my priority, ensuring my residents are well cared for and happy and living a life which offers independence with support whenever needed.

My door is always open for my residents, their family members and my team. I am always happy to help with any questions that you may have, and if you would like to come and take a look around our wonderful home, please get in touch.

Hi, my name is Mica and I am the Home Services Advisor at Cumberland Grange. My role is to support clients and their loved ones who are looking to make the move into care. It can be a daunting process for many people, but I want to change that. I will do my absolute best to make the journey and process as stress-free and comfortable as possible.

I am incredibly passionate about enriching the lives of our residents and ensuring that they feel a part of our local community. So when I’m not in the home, I will be out and about in the community making some great connections with various charities and organisations.

I am here if you have any questions at all, and if you would like to come in and have a look around our beautiful home, I would love to show you around. We have great coffee and cake, too!

Hello, my name is Gemma and I am the Home Administrator for Cumberland Grange.

I previously worked in another Barchester home for 3 years as an Admin Assistant, as well as previous experience of caring in the community. I really support and enforce everything that Barchester stands for, as I feel enrichment is so important in everyone’s lives.

Outside of Barchester, I have a love for baking and enjoy travelling to lots of different places.

I am excited to get to know everyone at Cumberland Grange and be a friendly face for residents and family members. Feel free to pop in and say hello, there will be cake and coffee too!

I am a very bubbly and friendly person who loves to help others. I have worked with animals, children, and the special needs sector.

Since 2019 I've worked in the care home sector and I am very happy to be the Receptionist here at Cumberland Grange.

Hello, my name is Romy, and I am the Community Lead for the Ground Floor Community here at Cumberland Grange. I have recently been promoted from Senior Carer, and I am so honoured to do such an important and fulfilling job. Our residents are so wonderful, and I feel very lucky to care for them. Hi, I'm Carolyn, the Deputy Manager here at Cumberland Grange.

I joined the team in 2023 as a Care Assistant and since then I have been promoted to Senior Care Assistant, Community Lead and now Deputy Manager. I absolutely love my job and I aim to deliver the very best person centered care to everyone living with us.

Being with our residents is such a joy and an honour, as I learn all about their lives and the stories they have to share with us all, which are incredible.

Hi, my name is Tiah, and I am the Community Lead for our top-floor community here at Cumberland.

I have worked at Cumberland Grange since 2023 and feel so lucky to work in such a wonderful home with the most amazing residents and great colleagues. Our residents are my number one priority, so my days are spent ensuring they have everything that they need and making sure that they are happy. We have such a lovely environment here, which makes Cumberland such a positive place to be. I look forward to welcoming new residents, too!

Hello there, I’m Avril, one of the Resident Ambassadors here at Cumberland Grange. Welcome to our home!

I came to Cumberland Grange in August 2022 after relocating from another care home just outside of London. My sister-in-law who lives in Exeter told me about Cumberland Grange, and lo and behold, I arrived here and felt very lucky to call this my new home. At this time, it hadn’t been open long and I was welcomed with opened arms and settled very quickly.

This is no ordinary care home here at Cumberland, we have a beautiful home, the team is a happy team, and us residents are a great bunch.

Hello, my name is Brian and one of the Resident Ambassadors here at Cumberland Grange. I have been here since April 2022 after relocating to be closer to my wonderful family.

I am always here to support new residents who join us and I am always happy to speak with prospective residents and families when they are here visiting.

The team here are truly wonderful, everybody is kind and caring and I love everybody here.

Hi, I'm Chris, Head Chef here at Cumberland Grange.

I have a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector, having previously worked in some of Devon's most established restaurants and gastro pubs. My passion is using locally sourced food, and creating daily menus that reflect the great variety of seasonal produce available. Overseeing the kitchen I ensure that every meal my team prepares is always freshly home-cooked, served and presented with care.

I enjoy getting to know all of our new residents, ensuring that I understand their likes, dislikes and preferences and aiming to incorporate all of these into our menu selections. Along with my kitchen team, we strive to create a menu that delivers the home-from-home dining experience that everyone living with us genuinely enjoys.

Outside of work, my passion for cooking continues and I enjoy experimenting with new flavours and recipes for my smoker and BBQ and absolutely love all things baking.

Hi, I'm Chris, Chef at Cumberland Grange.

I’ve over 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector and have worked in a variety of establishments - from boats to bistros.

Working at Cumberland Grange is a real change in direction for me and that’s what I really enjoy about being here, as there is a lot of daily interaction with our residents and they make us all feel so greatly appreciated. I enjoy getting to know all of our residents and their individual dietary needs so that I can produce a personalised dining experience for each of them.

I have a degree in Fine Art, something which I still enjoy practising and outside of work I have a vibrant mixed media art practice.

Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.

We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.

Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.

Hi, my name is Kirsty and I have recently started as the activities assistant at Cumberland Grange.

I have been working in the care sector for the last 2 years and prior to that I was working in customer service at BT for 34 years.

I have relished the change in career and have found working in the care sector very rewarding. I’m looking forward to spending time with the residents at Cumberland Grange, getting to know them, brightening their days with great activities and fulfilling any wishes they may have.

Outside of work I enjoy cooking, gardening, travelling, and walks with my Poochon, Cooper.

Hi, my name is Matt and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Cumberland Grange. I come from an experienced background previously working as a Housekeeper in 5* Hotels. I love working with people and so making the move into the care sector with my experience is something that I am so pleased I did. Our residents are brilliant and make my job fun.

Hi, I'm Bob and I have been working for Barchester for over 6 years in the maintenance department. I have worked in maintenance on and off for around 15 years and have a background in carpentry and sound engineering.

I also assist in taking our residents out in the minibus for trips, which I really enjoy.

Hello, I'm Lorna and I've been working in the care sector since 2009 and this is quite simply the best job I've ever had! My career began in the community care sector, supporting people living in their own homes across the mid and east Devon area, first as a carer and then progressing to the role of Care Manager, focusing on producing person-centred care plans for new service users.

My great passion however is to meet and support people and I just love the close personal connections that my role allows me to build with all of our residents. For me, everyone here is just like family and I really value these special relationships that I continue to build with everyone living here on a daily basis.

Hi, I’m Aleksandra, and I am a Senior Bank Care Assistant at Cumberland Grange. I’ve been working in care since 2017, and from day one, it became a true passion of mine. Over the years, I’ve worked in many different care homes, always striving to provide the best support possible. However, I never felt happy with the provided care.

I joined Cumberland Grange in 2024, and for the first time, I feel truly fulfilled. It’s a place where love, compassion, and respect are at the heart of everything we do. Being part of a team that genuinely cares for its residents makes all the difference, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Hello, my name is Katherine. I work part-time here at Cumberland Grange, as a care assistant.

I started my career in care back in 2015 when I was a nursing auxiliary at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

It was a very rewarding experience and I enjoyed it a lot.

I enjoyed it so much, I decided to start university to become a registered nurse. I joined Barchester in June 2023 during a break of my nursing studies. I really enjoy it here at Cumberland Grange. I often go out on the minibus with the activity ladies and go shopping with the residents to get their favourite snacks or go out to a community coffee morning.

I am still on that nursing degree journey. I shall be returning back in September 2024 to finally qualify which I'm proud of myself. I'll be on a bank contract so you may see me about when I'm on shift.

I really enjoy care work, and I really enjoy bringing a smile to residents faces. See you around.

Hello, my name is Cazumi, and I am a Care Assistant here at Cumberland Grange.

I currently work as a bank as I also attend university alongside my work. I have worked in care before, and I had to pause working because of relocating. At the start of my term, I felt like a part of me was missing, which was taking care of residents, spending time with them, laughing and smiling with them. I recently joined the team, and it has been amazing and fulfilling. Our residents are so wonderful, and they always have a story to share.

Hi there, I'm Sarah and I am part of the housekeeping team here at Cumberland Grange, and I really enjoy it. I love talking to the residents everyday and getting to know them. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly, which made it so easy to fit in straight away when I first started.  It's such a lovely place to work with a fantastic atmosphere, the day just goes by so fast.

I'm here to assist Head Chef, Chris and his team in ensuring that our residents have a fantastic dining experience filled with great seasonal variety and choice. Part of my daily role is to bake homemade cakes and treats for our residents which is my real passion and I really put all of my creativity, heart and soul into this - when you love doing something it's such a pleasure!
