She especially enjoyed the lovely bath spa in the mornings.
The outdoor outings at the ponds, feeding the ducks were refreshing and visited the church hall, my mother thoroughly enjoyed singing with the other residents and a chance to reminisce.
The dining environment was pleasant, with a la carte service. She enjoyed being amongst residents seated around the table, having a laugh and a chat compared to being at home, eating alone and watching TV. This was a treat for her.
In the near future, she will be back to meet the lovely staff and residents again.
Patricia, thank you for your lovely feedback which I will share with the team. We look forward to your mum coming back soon, she was a delight to care for!
We knew we had to find a nursing home for her and we found Peony Court.
Even before Mum moved they made us feel very welcome.
Now Mum is there we can relax knowing she is taken care 24-7 and I have never seen her so happy. Peony Court feels like our second home every time we go we feel welcomed and there is no need to book just turn up make yourself a coffee.
They also have entertainment for all the residents and take the residents out regularly in the minibus.
I highly recommend Peony Court, I don't think you could find a better home.
Thanks so much.
Thanks so much for the kind words. We are so pleased Mum has settled in so well and is enjoying life at Peony.
A very pleasant atmosphere. Staff very welcoming and super helpful. My friend is well cared for and has settled, enjoying food, company, staff and a comfortable environment.
Dear Rosemary, thanks for taking the time to give us a review. We are so pleased your friend is settling well and we hope to see you again soon.
Care is very person-centred. Staff always lovely and friendly, my mum loves them! Food great, good activities, but most importantly my mum is really happy there. Thank you Manager and your team and keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words, we love your mum and we will keep up the good work!
A friend that my wife and I have cared for has now moved into Peony Court. The home is amazing, warm, and welcoming, best described as a 4 star hotel. Nothing is too much trouble from any of the staff, taking time to talk to us and remembering our names whenever we visit. Our friend originally went in for a period of respite care, but has now decided to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, food is great (we had lunch) with a varied menu.
Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to give us such a lovely review. We are proud that you can feel the warm atmosphere in the home and that we have created a homely feel in boutique hotel surroundings!
Having visited regularly over the past few months, I can honestly say it’s always been a pleasure. Peony is kept to a very high standard in decor and cleanliness. Staff are always kind, polite, thoughtful and welcoming, going above and beyond to help and assist. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff always have the time to talk through and implement ways for individuals if needed. On entering Peony it feels as though you are entering a 5 star boutique hotel with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Peony has definitely changed my opinion on how I perceive care homes to be, which is very refreshing. Feeling like a home from home, it made the transition so very seamless. On initially contacting the home, I was made to feel at ease and all my questions were answered with complete transparency. I cannot express my relief in finding such a diamond. As next of kin, it’s the peace of mind this care home affords you to feel, knowing your loved one is cared for in a safe and exceptional way.
Thank you so much for your feedback, which I will share with the team. It is a pleasure looking after your relative and it's great to know we have changed your mind about care homes. We strive to do our very best to make our residents and families happy every single day and it's lovely to be recognised.
I find the home welcoming and friendly and the staff are attentive to my mum's needs and she has settled in well over the last six months. My girlfriend is a Community Sister and as a result visits many care homes and she was extremely impressed.
Thank you for the lovely feedback which I will share with the team.
The home has done a brilliant job of looking after my mum and making sure she feels safe and comfortable. The food is excellent and a lot of her anxiety has gone since she moved in. She enjoys the activities that are arranged and has been kept busy which is so important for her well-being.
Thanks for the lovely feedback, your mum gives a lot back, helping others with their knitting and music. We are lucky to have her.
Lovely staff, looked after my grandad very well for the last few weeks of his life. He received top quality care and as a former care assistant, I was very impressed with their efforts. For my grandad's 95th birthday, we were able to use their lounge area to celebrate and all the staff were kind and the chef even made him a cake!
Thanks for leaving us such great feedback, it was our honour to look after Grandad.
My dad stayed in Peony Court after he was unable to manage at home. Everyone there was so welcoming and the level of care he received was excellent. I was able to visit at any time and got to know all the staff very well. He always said the food was excellent and enjoyed the activities and trips out. Even when he was too unwell to leave the home on trips, the staff encouraged him to restart drawing and painting. All in all, it was a massive relief to have had him so well cared for the entire time he was there. I would recommend anyone take a look at Peony.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, I will share your kind words with the team.
My father originally went into Peony Court for a week's respite at the end of June. However, we ended up rolling the respite over for 3 months as Dad was quite happy to stay, despite the fact that he had never wanted to leave his own home. This was due to the fact that he enjoyed the company, loved the food and entertainment, and received excellent care from all the brilliant staff. We were very sad when Dad had to be transferred to another home after becoming ill and needing a higher level of care. We would recommend Peony Court to anyone considering a respite stay or permanent residency in a care home.
Thank you for your kind words, we loved having your dad with us.
The elderly resident who selected me as her next of kin is a single lady and a very private person. She came into Barchester Peony Court Care Home just over a year ago on a temporary basis but is now a permanent resident. She is too frail to take part in many of the activities, but has been treated with the utmost kindness and consideration by the manager and staff. At her own home, she saw hardly anyone during and after Covid but since moving into Peony Court she has been happy to interact with some of the other residents and to sit with others at the lunch table on a regular basis. All the staff are very thoughtful and ready to think of ways to make her comfortable. We are so relieved and pleased to have found Peony Court for her.
Janet, thank you so much for leaving us a review. It's lovely to hear that we've made a real difference to the resident since she chose to stay with us here at Peony Court.
Being a small care home, I’ve got to know most of the team and I know my mum's welfare, both physical and mental, is at the forefront of what they do.
The facilities at Peony Court are excellent and the staff have an enthusiastic and encouraging attitude to residents entertainment, offering a varied program of events.
Thank you for your kind words, we are pleased Mum has settled in well with us and that her needs are being met.
After a stay in the hospital, my dad was greeted by staff on his return to Peony and welcomed him back, they showed such kindness and consideration, that I really think we could not have found anywhere better.
It's also a lovely bright and clean place.
Fiona, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad we could help your dad and the whole family through difficult times.
The carers look after all her needs. I can get on with my own life knowing she is being well cared for.
Thank you for your lovely review Rose, your mum is an asset to our community and we love having her with us.
I brought my grandfather to Peony Court due to his declining health in November 2023. It’s safe to say he received the most passionate, person-centred care that he really wouldn’t have got anywhere else! Peony court looked after him until he sadly passed away a month later. Food and activities are exquisite, and the overall cleanliness of the home is very well-kept with beautiful furnishings. I would recommend Peony Court highly to anyone looking for great care.
Donna, it was an honour to look after Grandad, thank you for taking the time to give us a review I will share your kind words with the team. Hope to see you for a cup of tea and a piece of cake soon.
I came to Barchester Peony Court Care Home after twelve days in hospital and with limited mobility. I completely lacked confidence in my ability to get around and was very tired and tearful. I have been treated with such kindness and after two weeks, I'm feeling so much better and confident to go home. The staff have all been amazing and I can't thank them enough for all they have done for me.
Jill, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It was lovely to have you at Peony Court and we are so pleased you felt confident to go home at the end of your stay. We hope the leg continues to heal and you'd be more than welcome to pop in and see us any time - there will always be cake waiting!
We left New Zealand immediately and visited Peony Court and my Uncle to check the facilities and his well-being. We were extremely impressed with all the facilities throughout, enjoying a first-class lunch with my Uncle, as well as meeting the warm welcoming staff. and enjoying some of the activities. We visited my Uncle daily who was so happy with the staff and facilities, he never wanted to leave, giving him a quality end of life. Unfortunately, my Uncle passed suddenly after a couple of months, we can't thank the staff enough for their professionalism and friendliness throughout his stay, from my Uncles initial introduction to the home, to his passing.
We would highly recommend Peony to any individual requiring care.
Mark, thank you so much for your kind words. We were so pleased to meet your Uncle and the family and be able to provide support and love to him during his stay with us.
My husband and I spent a week at Peony Court while our house was being rewired. I am my husband's carer and as soon as we arrived I knew that I could safely hand him to the medical staff who could take this weight off my shoulders. They were wonderful. We both enjoyed both of the activities and I loved the spa bath and the freedom. It was truly a lovely respite week.
Margaret, it was a joy having you both come and stay and we would love to welcome you both back when you need to recharge your batteries again. Lots of love from us all.
Mum stayed for a week whilst I went on holiday and I felt happy to leave her in such capable and friendly hands. It was like a 5-star hotel and a holiday for Mum. Would certainly recommend this care home.
Thank you for your kind words, Mum is always welcome at Peony Court.

Meet the Team (14)

Hello! I am Charles, the General Manager here at Peony Court. I began my healthcare journey as a dentist, building a strong foundation in patient care before pursuing a Master’s in Healthcare Management. While studying, I worked part-time in care, where I formed meaningful connections with residents and saw first-hand the value of compassionate, person-centred support. Now, as a General Manager, I’m committed to creating a safe, respectful environment where residents feel valued, and teams are empowered. I love travelling and long drives; they inspire me and reflect my belief in learning from diverse cultures, something that enriches my work every day.

Hi, my name is Afi, and I previously worked as a Care Community Lead at Chestnut Gardens Care Home. I began my journey in care in 2022 as a carer with Barchester Healthcare, where I quickly discovered a passion for supporting others with compassion, dignity, and respect. Through dedication and a commitment to making a positive difference, I progressed into a senior carer role, developing strong leadership skills and a deeper understanding of person-centred care. I am proud to continue this journey at Peony Court as the deputy manager, supporting both residents and colleagues to deliver high-quality care.

Hi! I'm Chris, the head chef here at Peony Court.
I've worked in the catering business for well over 40 years and love what I do. Cooking isn't just a job for me it's my passion, I cook at work, at home, wherever and whenever I can! My favourite thing to cook with is Chicken, boring I know but it's so incredibly versatile, with the exception of puddings you can make pretty much anything with a chicken! I decided to move into the care industry because I find it so much more rewarding than restaurants, theatres and such. I get to engage with the residents, find out what they want and work to make it happen. I am so happy to be a member of the Peony Court Team, I've been made to feel welcome and supported, it's more like family than a workplace, something I've never experienced in my 40-plus-year career!

Hello! I'm Kerry, the second Chef at Peony Court. I have always had a love for cooking, seeing first-hand the care, purpose and dedication that chefs bring to preparing meals for residents inspires me to pursue this path. Cooking is much more than food; it is about creating comforting dishes and ensuring every meal is prepared with thought and attention.

Hello! I'm Nick, Head of Maintenance here at Peony Court.
Before joining the care sector I qualified and worked many years as an architect, designing and planning the building of houses, retail establishments, office blocks and some of the biggest purpose-built care homes and retired living complexes in Europe!
I made the move into the care sector because I wanted to work directly with the people, I get a buzz every single day knowing I can make a real difference to my team and my residents. It's incredibly rewarding and makes the hard work absolutely worthwhile.

Before I joined the care sector, I worked for many years in the hotel industry, managing housekeeping, hospitality and customer experience. Several members of my family have a history of working in care, and I thought, maybe that could be me as well. I'm a natural entertainer with a flair for bringing smiles to people's faces, and this was absolutely the right move for me. Here at Peony Court, I make a point of getting to know each and every resident and their families. I tailor the activities program to suit individuals; no one is the same, and everyone has different interests. It's my aim to be empathetic, enthusiastic and engaging with all of my residents. We have incredible activities and events here guided by exactly what our residents want, from pampering sessions to singing and dancing, chair exercises to arts and crafts, and diversity is absolutely key! I can't wait to welcome more residents and guests to Peony Court!

Hi, I'm Bo, the Activities Assistant here at Peony Court. From arts and crafts to games, themed events and one-to-one chats, I help create moments that spark joy and encourage participation.

Hi! I'm Jill, your friendly admin assistant. I'm the first person you'll be greeted by at Peony Court, and I'll even make you a cup of tea! You might even catch me singing along to the radio. I worked in the city as a legal assistant for over 25 years before we were hit by the pandemic, and was then made redundant. My own mum had been unwell for a while, and I thought, what better way to 'give back' than to look at the care industry here I am. This career move has been a massive awakening for me; it's a completely different environment in a sector that really matters! The team here at Peony Court are great and works as a team, we never say it's not my job, everyone supports each other, and it's a fab place to work!

Hello! I'm Donna, Community Manager here at Peony Court.
Caring has always been a significant part of my life. Before beginning my career professionally, I supported family members, and those early experiences showed me just how meaningful it is to make a positive difference in someone's life. They inspired me to pursue a career where compassion, kindness, and supporting others are at the heart of everything I do. Since then, I have built my career across a variety of care settings, developing a broad range of knowledge and experience. Before joining Peony Court, I spent six years working in Mental Health Services, supporting individuals with a wide range of complex mental health conditions and dual diagnoses. This role strengthened my skills in delivering person-centred care, building trusting relationships, and supporting people to achieve the best possible quality of life. I joined Peony Court when it first reopened in 2021 and have been proud to be part of the team from the very beginning. Watching the home grow and flourish has been incredibly rewarding, and I have enjoyed contributing to the warm, welcoming community we have created together. In 2026, I was delighted to be promoted to Care Community Manager, a role that allows me to lead and support our exceptional team while continuing to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of compassionate, person-centred care. What I enjoy most about my role is getting to know each resident as an individual and working alongside their families and our dedicated team to create an environment where people feel safe, valued, respected, and truly at home. I am incredibly proud to be part of Peony Court and to help shape the positive, caring culture that makes it such a special place to live and work.

Hi, my name is Karen, and I have worked in care for most of my life. I'm also a carer outside of work for my lovely Mum. I'm passionate about giving our residents the very best experience and making sure the whole team go the extra mile. I'm the Peony Court Falls Prevention Champion and Moving and Handling champion- the two roles fit together nicely, and I've learned a lot from our regular Champions meetings.

I’ve been working in care for over 10 years, and during that time I’ve taken on a variety of roles, including senior positions that have helped me grow my skills and leadership. Caring for others is something I’m truly passionate about. I love building meaningful relationships with residents, supporting my team, and making sure everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. I’m excited to be part of the Peony Court family and to continue making a positive difference every day.

I gained my BTEC Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social care at College, and have worked in a variety of care settings prior to the birth of my daughter. I joined Peony Court as a member of the Housekeeping team and was excited to be promoted to Senior Care in April 2023. My great pleasure is time spent talking with our residents, getting to know them as people, and the families as well. It's not just about the physical side of caring; it's the relationships we make that are so rewarding.

I'm Katie, and I've been with the team since the home opened in September 2021. I hadn't worked in a care home before, but had been a private home carer for a lady living with dementia. When she went into a care home, I needed a job and applied to Peony Court. I got into care after needing care myself when I suffered a stroke. I understand how the residents feel and the frustration they can experience when their bodies don't do what they tell them to! I'm one of the Dementia champions here. While we don't have a 'Memory Lane' wing here at Peony, we do have some residents with age-related memory difficulties, and it's our job to make sure their specific needs and preferences are understood by the whole team. I also liaise with families to make sure we have a rich life history of their relative, which helps to truly personalise the care and activities of the individual.

I was born in 2012 and was rescued from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home by a wonderful lady. I had many happy years with her before she sadly passed away, so I was on the hunt for a new family and was lucky enough to stumble on Peony Court! I moved in here in 2021, and I'm so happy! I like nothing better than curling up on a chair in the warm and cosy lounge, and no one needs to worry about mice; there'll be no pests in my house! I love my hoooman family at Peony Court, they are puurrrfect!
