We have had nothing but a positive experience of the wonderful Montague House Care Home. Myself and my husband regularly visited our friend before he sadly passed away for a cup of tea and a slice of delicious cake that was always on offer for residents and their visitors. Montagu House is immaculately
clean, the facilities are incredible, the communal areas impressive, and the meals served to our friend were first class. The staff were always so welcoming and our friend always talked about how they went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable. He was very happy there and often said he felt like he was on holiday as he was cared for so well by the amazing staff. I have had experience of other care homes over the years and I would not hesitate to recommend Montague House as first-rate!

My mother was at Montague House when she passed away.
Everyone, including all the staff were cheerful and introduced themselves, it was a very friendly environment. My mum also felt well cared for and safe. My first communication was with the Regional Community Relations Lead who was very helpful and
caring. She gave me the confidence so that I felt safe to leave my mum at Montague House.

The daughter of my stepfather booked him into Montague House Brampton for respite care, despite it being 180 miles away from his oncologist, meaning he was unable to attend crucial appointments. Whilst there, he contracted a severe infection and had to be hospitalised. On his discharge, he managed to
book a private ambulance back home, but was in such a terrible state he died several days later. We found the management severely lacking in communication skills and any sort of empathy for my Mum who was distraught at having her husband of 25 years moved so far away from her. Please read the Care Quality Commission’s report which clearly states it requires improvement in safety and with how it is led.
My advice would be that if you like gorging yourself on free cake it’s perfect, if you care about your loved one please, please do not send them here.

It was a pleasure to have your stepfather join us at Montague House, but I appreciate the decision for him to stay here wasn't your preference due to the travelling distance. I'm sure you understand though that we must respect the wishes of his daughter who wanted him near to her and her siblings so they could regularly visit their father. Our team are committed to delivering exceptional care, and we were delighted to receive positive feedback from his daughter during and after his stay about their many visits and how they found our team loving, kind and supportive. I don't feel it would be appropriate to address comments relating to internal family dynamics but feel it important to confirm that your stepfather safely returned to our home from the hospital as planned and arranged by his daughter. We of course cannot discuss private medical information publicly. I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet you, should you wish to discuss though do get in touch.

Montague House always feels warm and friendly. My mum particularly enjoys the varied activities and having coffee and cake in the Bistro area. She has been in Montague House for over six months now and her needs are well catered for by caring and friendly staff. It is reassuring for me to know that
my mum is well entertained and kept occupied by a regular weekly programme. Overall we are very satisfied with Montague House and would recommend it.

My father came to stay at Montague House for respite care, initially for one month but stayed for two.
Besides having him near to myself and my siblings and his grandchildren, it was an absolute pleasure to visit him at Montague House where the team are loving, kind and supportive.
Dad sadly became
very ill whilst at Montague House and was admitted to hospital but he did return briefly before going home to the north. We are grateful for the last few days and all the extra care he needed.
Dad could not have been better looked after at Montague House where the management took on board some difficult family tensions and supported us all in what was an emotionally difficult time.
I will miss Montague House very much - I spent many hours there not just with Dad but also getting to know other residents and their families.
There is always a friendly welcome, a lovely coffee and even a piece of cake waiting for anyone who steps through the door.

When choosing a care home for my father-in-law, location was very important to us, as we would most likely be his only visitors. We were very impressed b the building, layout ad quality of furnishings and decor. At our initial meeting with family liaison, we were very reassured but the philosophy of
the company, in particular, the homemaker ideal. All questions and concerns were dealt with with understanding, compassion and a reassuring level of knowledge and professionalism. We received a warm welcome from every member of staff on subsequent visits and, when we discovered the cost was exactly the same as other local homes, without full-time nursing care, our decision was made.
Since my father-in-law arrived in early January, we have been delighted with the cate he has received. Every issue we have raised has been taken seriously and action taken to enhance his experience. He has settled incredibly well and e feel that this is due entirely to the friendliness and kindness of the staff.

Lovely, new care home. Still with growing pains with reference to staff (recruitment, ongoing training etc.) but making good progress. Key management and staff are excellent. Particularly strong on communication and engagement with relatives of residents. Quality of food is also above average as is

I have been very impressed by the care and understanding provided by the staff at Montague. My relative started at Montague for respite care after a sudden deterioration in her health, which required nursing intervention. Her health improved during respite, but she has decided that she would prefer
to remain at Montague as a resident instead of returning home: the staff are extremely caring and thoughtful, the food is great, the en-suite facilities are very handy, and there are friends to be made over meals and at events. My relative has expressed the opinion that this scenario is a much better option than trying to struggle on alone in her own home. The staff have shown me that they are very aware of how to guide her through the emotional and psychological changes that are involved in such a decision, and I think that it is a great choice for her to make.

Faultless in every way. My mother was suddenly taken very unwell at the beginning of March and needed urgent respite care. From the first phone call with their regional community relations lead, I was made to feel totally at ease. During Mum's stay, nothing has been too much trouble for any of the staff,
whether caring for her, the receptionist, the manager - just amazing.
Mum is returning home on Friday, but personally I feel Montague House is where she should be. But, due to her own independence and being of sound mind, she needs to return home to understand her own needs now.
Thank you each and every one of you for everything you have done to get Mum back onto her feet and in such a happy, five-star environment. I could never ask for anything better from a first-class team.

This is a fantastic home! We worked hard to keep Mum at home and had to get her into a care home when her health got too much to manage at home. She's thriving. We never thought she'd walk again after her hospital stay or be able to say a few words and now she does both. It's in small bursts, but it's
there. It doesn't matter what time we visit, she's clean, well-dressed and comfortable. Thank you for all you are doing!

Mum loves being here and I'm very happy with the care that the staff give her. The only slight negative is that sometimes the communication could be better - particularly when COVID restrictions are added and removed.

We visited a friend who we hadn't seen for 3 years and from the moment of contact via email to arrange everything, we were dealt with utter professionalism and compassion. When we arrived, we were greeted by name and again with such professionalism and thorough care. We were amazed at everything we

I booked myself into the Montague House Care Home in Brampton for four weeks of respite care following a replacement hip operation.
I received such marvellous care which I am sure helped towards my recovery and enabled me to return home after 4 weeks and look after myself.
I cannot speak highly enough
of the dedication and patience of all the staff.

My brother has settled in really well. He has many mood swings sometimes when we are visiting but the staff are brilliant and calm him down and they are all very friendly to him. If the home has a problem with my brother, they inform us and the problem is solved very quickly. I couldn't think of a better
place for my brother to be and feel really at ease knowing that he is safe and being well looked after.

My review relating to our experience of Montague House is based on a limited period of six weeks that my wife has been a resident.
I have no experience of care homes, my wife had only resided in one other for approximately six months on a part-time/full-time basis, prior to coming to Montague House.
What
I can say with certainty is that Montague House has fulfilled and exceeded my expectations. Not only are the facilities wonderful but the staff equally talented.
It's been a massive relief to see my wife so well cared for and so happy whenever I visit.
I would thoroughly recommend their approach to residential care and commend them for the effort and kindness that they have shown us.

My experience has been excellent, after a small problem at the beginning everyone is very attentive and nothing is too much trouble.
Everyone here is very patient with all the residents. Variety of food and quality are good mostly homemade pies, cakes and puddings etc. Activities are varied and interesting.
I will return here when I have another knee operation next year, if I am able to do so.

Paula is the Home Manager of Montague House and brings a wealth of expertise to her role, with extensive experience as both a nurse and in leadership positions within the care sector. Her dedication to delivering exceptional care and fostering a nurturing environment is at the heart of her work. Paula holds a degree in Adult Health Nursing from Edinburgh Napier University and is also a proud Military Veteran, having served in the Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Service. Her commitment to excellence has earned her significant recognition in the industry; she was shortlisted in the Front Line Leader category at the Great British Care Awards in 2019 and was further acknowledged in the Registered Manager category at the same prestigious awards in 2020.


With her blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep passion for person-centred care, Paula ensures that Montague House provides a warm, supportive, and high-quality environment for both residents and staff.

Jacqueline Brown

Jacqueline began her career in the care sector in 2019 and has been a valued member of the Hamberley team since 2020. As the Customer Relations Manager at Montague House, Jacqueline has guided countless families through the process of transitioning their loved ones into care. With empathy and understanding, she addresses concerns and ensures that every resident and their family feels supported and reassured throughout this important life transition. Jacqueline takes great pride in being a dependable source of comfort and trust for families during what can be an emotional journey. She is passionate about helping individuals and families find the right care and support within Hamberley’s award-winning homes.


Outside of work, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her young daughter and family. In 2023, despite not being a fan of running, Jacqueline completed a half marathon and raised £800 for the Alzheimer’s Society — a testament to her determination and dedication to making a difference.
