Montague House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife is nearly 3 weeks into a 4-week period of respite care. I have been very impressed with the care and attention she has received. There is a welcoming atmosphere as soon as you enter the building. Staff are very friendly and supportive, doing all they can to meet the needs of residents. My wife
has Parkinsons/dementia so her needs are complex. Her room is spacious with appropriate furniture and an adjustable height bed for her safety. Medication is given on time, and I am kept fully informed of any issues that have arisen due to her medical condition. Food is nutritious, with a varied menu to meet all dietary requirements. I have confidence that she is receiving a high level of care. There are a variety of activities every day to suit all interests. The Bistro café bar is the regular informal meeting place, the full facilities being available to both residents and visitors. If my wife had to be placed in permanent care, I would have no hesitation in recommending Montague House.
Reply from Paula Yorkston Toy, Home Manager at Montague House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your wife's respite stay with us. It truly means a great deal to the whole team. We are delighted to hear that both you and your wife have felt welcomed and supported from the moment you arrived. Creating a warm, friendly, and reassuring environment is something we strive for every day, and it's wonderful to know this has been your experience. Caring for residents with complex needs, including Parkinson's and dementia, is something our team is deeply committed to, and we are pleased that you feel confident in the care and attention your wife received. Ensuring families are kept fully informed and involved is also very important to us, so your feedback on communication is especially appreciated. It's lovely to hear your positive comments about the environment, activities, dining experience, and the Bistro caf.

Elstow Manor is a really lovely care home, and both my parents have been living there since February. The staff have been really friendly, kind and welcoming - helping them to adjust to their new home. The facilities are wonderful, and I have been amazed at the extent of interesting activities provided.
My mum and dad have very different health issues so need to be on different floors, but I have been very grateful for the flexibility of the staff in helping them spend time together. I have really appreciated all the support my parents have been given and would highly recommend the home.
Reply from Val Foley, Customer Relations Manager at Elstow Manor Care HomeWhat a lovely thing to read - and how nice to know your parents have settled so well since February. Helping a couple stay close when their needs sit on different floors is exactly the kind of thing our team cares about getting right, so it means a great deal that you've felt that flexibility and warmth throughout. We're delighted the activities and the home itself have made such a good impression too, and your recommendation is genuinely appreciated.

Nesbit House Care Home

from Dawn W (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 July 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Having reached the point where Mum was no longer able or safe to be alone in her home where she'd lived for the last 60 years my brother and I began the hard task of finding somewhere that we felt best suited her needs and where we felt she would feel safe and happy.
Initially we visited 2 Care homes
neither of which we felt were right for her and feeling slightly despondent our next stop was Nesbit House.
As soon as we walked through the doors there was an immediate sense of hope and relief, it just had a really good feel about it and how right we were.
It was a really smooth transition and from the very first day to the very last Mum thought she was staying in a lovely hotel.
She was always treated with such great care, compassion and absolute dignity throughout and as a family we were kept informed every step of the way.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Nesbit House and all it's wonderful staff, they made a difficult time much easier for us to cope with.
Reply from Charles Knowles, Home Manager at Nesbit House Care HomeWhat a journey you and your brother had finding the right place, and how glad we are that Nesbit House gave you that sense of relief the moment you walked in. That your mum spent her time with us believing she was in a lovely hotel might be the kindest thing we could hope to hear - it's exactly the feeling we want a home to have. Caring for her with dignity, and keeping you both close at every stage, mattered enormously to us. Thank you for trusting us with her, and for these generous words about a difficult time. She was a pleasure to know.

Cambridge Grove Care Home

from J M (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 July 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My mother went into Cambridge Grove for respite care after almost three weeks in hospital, and she was made to feel welcome from the moment she arrived. The staff and carers were consistently friendly, kind, patient and supportive, and always keeping her comfort and well-being in mind. Any small issue
was handled quickly and thoughtfully, and the team went beyond what one would expect when my mother misplaced her glasses twice, the staff found them, and even one staff member returned them in person after she had returned home. There was a huge variety of activities, somewhat scuppered by the heatwave. Thank you to everyone for the exceptional care during my mother's recovery.
Reply from Rubina Arunagiri, Home Manager at Cambridge Grove Care HomeIt's heartening to know your mother felt so welcome from her very first day with us, especially after a long spell in hospital - settling in comfortably matters enormously after a stay like that. The small things you mention say a great deal: noticing when something's amiss, finding her glasses, and going out of the way to return them to her at home. We're sorry the heatwave kept some of the activities indoors, but we're so pleased the care itself supported her recovery. Wishing your mother continued good health, and thank you for trusting us with her respite stay.

Templeton Place Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
What a lovely place, my dad stayed at Templeton Place, Southampton for just over two weeks. He was recovering from major surgery and could not stay with me (daughter), so we had to find somewhere near to me, and that would accommodate his needs. From start to finish the staff were amazing, especially
when my dads operation got cancelled and we had to change all the dates. Nothing was to much for them, they took the pressure off of me, I couldn't have asked for anything better. Everyone involved was just amazing, my dad was really happy there too. He didn't feel like he was recovering in a 'HOME', he felt so at ease and comfortable, his room was a suite and it was just lovely, looking onto the garden area, its like being in a 5 star hotel. My daughter loved visiting him there, there were no restrictions on times when we could visit, she loved all the animals they had come in too. The daily activities they do, is just wonderful, I would highly recommend this place, its worth a visit.
Reply from Tracy McCallum, Customer Relations Manager at Templeton Place Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear that your dad felt so comfortable and well cared for during his recovery with us. It means a great deal to know that our team could help ease the pressure during a challenging time, especially when plans had to change unexpectedly.
We're also so pleased that your daughter enjoyed visiting, meeting the animals, and spending time with her grandad in such a welcoming environment. Your kind words about our staff, accommodation, and activities are truly appreciated and will be shared with the whole team.
Thank you again for your recommendation. We wish your dad continued good health and hope to welcome your family again in the future.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped my mum settle in. Leaving her home and friends has been very hard for her. I too have struggled and I have worried that she will be unable to adjust. A very nice suite of rooms which made the respite care so much easier for my Mum. She had her own lounge and a small kitchen, in addition to the en suite bedroom. Very friendly staff and a nice cafe downstairs.
Reply from Jasmine Wareham, Home Ambassador at Lovell Place Care HomeWhat a lovely thing to read - thank you. Respite is often a big step for a family, so knowing the suite worked so well for your mum, with her own lounge and kitchen alongside the en-suite bedroom, means a great deal to us. After the experience we had with my dad's previous care home, the difference since moving here has been incredible. He has only been here for just over a month, but I already feel so much more confident and reassured.
The staff are kind, caring, and genuinely compassionate. They treat residents with
espect and always take the time to make my dad feel supported. The home is clean, well run, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The biggest change for me is the peace of mind. I can now leave after a visit knowing that my dad is safe and being looked after properly. Having nursing care available gives me even greater confidence that his needs are being met.
I've also noticed that my dad seems much more settled and relaxed.
Having experienced another care home that did not provide the standard of care we expected, I feel I can make a genuine comparison. The improvement has been remarkable, and I'm extremely grateful to everyone here for their care, kindness, and professionalism.

Alston House Care Home

Both my Parents moved into Alston House in July 2025, unfortunately within 6 weeks my Mother had a fall which led to a brain bleed and she sadly passed away, my Father continued to live at Alston House and needed 24 hour care as he was bed bound. He sadly gave up on life and stopped eating and drinking
and passed away last week. He was 90 years old.
When we made the difficult decision to move Mum& Dad into care, we were naturally anxious.
But the warmth, compassion, and professionalism we experienced there quickly put us at ease .
they were both treated with surrogate love, which brought our family immense comfort .
Thank you to the Nurses, the Homemakers, the Kitchen team, and everyone who took the time to stop and chat, make them smile, and ensure their final years were comfortable and dignified.
A special thank you to Edyta who made sure that in my mothers final days she was returned from hospital to be with Dad.
This care home is so well run it seems like a Hotel !
Reply from Magda Anca, Home Manager at Alston House Care HomeTracy, thank you for these heartfelt words. To have welcomed both your parents together, and to have cared for them through everything that followed, was a privilege we will not forget. It means a great deal to read that the warmth and compassion they were shown brought you comfort, and that the care felt like the surrogate love we hope every resident feels here - from our nurses and Homemakers to the kitchen team and everyone who simply stopped to share a smile. They will be remembered here with great fondness.

Very welcoming introductory visit/interview.
Customer services manager focused on potential new resident to obtain full history and details which were essential to identify individual needs and priorities for care and support. Excellent follow-up processes. Care staff extremely diligent and polite.
Excellent activities. Excellent food. My sister loves her new 'home'.

The care my mum received was amazing. The staff were all so friendly and happy and they made us all feel very welcome. Mum has various health issues but they looked after her so well and made her comfortable. The home was modern and felt like a home and there were lovely facilities for residents and
visitors, including entertainment. I would not hesitate to recommend Elstow Manor to anyone - first class staff and care. Professional but friendly and welcoming!

Elstow Manor looks after my mother-in-law very well. All staff are friendly and attentive when my wife and I visit. We like attending when there is a function happening. If cakes are provided, they make special dairy free cakes so I can enjoy them too. The staff are second to none.

Edwalton is an absolutely fantastic care setting. Both my parents loved their time in respite care there. The food is great, the place is modern, spotlessly clean and tidy with lots of great facilities. The main thing though is the staff who are just wonderful, patient, caring, friendly, I couldn't
be more impressed overall. Thank you.
