Elstow Manor Care Home

from Toni E (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Mum was in Elstow Manor for 3.5 years. During this time her Alzheimer's journey progressed, taking her from being quite active to becoming bedbound and no longer able to feed herself, depending on the staff 100% for all her needs. The staff were always professional, caring, respectful and attentive
to her increasing support needs, carrying out her personal requirements with dignity. After a couple of brief spells in hospital in November 2024 (where she looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights) she quickly returned to her usual contented self once back in her room. Smiling in recognition to faces and voices of home makers and nursing staff she knew.
We made the right choice in selecting Elstow Manor for her last few years, and I will always be thankful for the love, care, comfort and attention she received from everyone there.

Every effort is made by all the team to make the stay as pleasant, friendly and welcoming as possible. The facilities and activities are well-planned and excellent. The home is spotlessly clean throughout, and the choice of food and quality is first class. So pleasing to see residents comfortable and
content.

Cambridge Grove Care Home

from Peter C (Son of Resident) published on 24 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

On the 1st April of this year my mother celebrated her 99th birthday at the Grove. All the staff were wonderful and made it special for her. We were able to have an excellent meal with her in the private dining room and her godson and his wife were able to join us which made the day even more special
for her. Following on from this my mother was treated to a 'This Is Your Life' presentation which I had helped put together alongside the staff as a surprise, this was I believe to be the first of many for the residents and what a lovely way to find out about someone's life, after all they haven't always been old and I'm sure most were trend setters in their time!
Following the 'This is your life' episode we all went to the Bistro where the chef had produced a birthday cake to share with the other residents, sadly only one candle, the other 98 were deemed to be a fire hazard!
Well done to all the staff for making a special day that much more special with your wonderful care.

Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care Home

Thank you for your wonderful comments. It was our honour to help celebrate Mum's 99th birthday with all of the family and close friends. We're glad to hear you enjoyed her special day together. We certainly look forward to producing more 'This is Your Life' presentations in the future.

Newton House Care Home

from Kerr B (Husband of Resident) published on 22 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife moved into Newton House in October 2024 from hospital. She was suffering from depleted health both mentally and physically. Now, about 6 months later, she is beginning to flourish again - her family and friends say she is looking well and has regained much of her confidence. It is a joy to
visit her.
I put this down to the excellent care she receives. All the carers are willing to assist her - nothing is too much bother. This is partly due to input from the staff trainer and the clinical lead. The nurses take their work seriously but are also happy at their work and very willing to communicate both ways. This atmosphere of joy permeates the whole place.
There are activities every day and outings as well. The activities leader is excellent and prepares a weekly planner which is posted throughout the home and emailed to the next of kin.
The manager deserves credit for her excellent leadership and all her hard work in running this large care home so competently.

This home is one of the best homes we encountered from the minute my mother went there, there care was exceptional. We really feel that my mother actually improved during her time there and she lived a longer and healthy life. The homeworkers actually care about the residents. Its not just a job for
them. Their care is with love, care and most of all respect and dignity. The manager and her team are an asset to the company.

Very impressed with the standard of care which my mother received in January/February 2025. It was the perfect place for her to regain her strength following a hospital stay. The staff were friendly. The food tasty and the whole environment enabled he to regain her confidence. Another pus - her clothes
were not ruined in the laundry as I have seen happen in other home.

Lovell Place Care Home

from K E (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My 92 year old fathers health deteriorated and it became difficult for my mother and the family to care for him at home. A friend recommended Lovell Place. We were welcomed at one initial visit and given excellent advice and support by one of the staff members. This continued throughout his stay.
Dad
was admitted for a 2 week respite stay which was extended to 7 weeks before he passed away 24/3. We cannot fault the care both personal and nursing. All staff were professional and welcoming to my dad, my mother and his family. We cannot thank Lovell Place enough.

Reply from Sarah Jacka, Regional Community Relations Lead at Lovell Place Care Home

Thank you for your 5 star review and for taking the time to complete this at such a difficult time for all the family. It was a pleasure to have had your father stay with us, we miss him sitting in the Bistro most days having a drink and chatting with friends, family and in particular your mother. He always loved his visits and embraced as much as he was able to do in the home, in particular he loved the talks and musical entertainment which was held. We wish you and the rest of the family all the best of the future and if mum ever wanted to pop in for coffee or come to one of our events she is more than welcome as we know she made a few friends whilst visiting.

I cannot praise the carers enough, they all do an amazing job, it gives me peace of mind that when i'm not with my mum- she's safe + very well cared for, the manager 'always' makes herself available if you wish to talk to her. the entertaiment + activities at montague house are superb ! – food - good
points are theres always a varity of juice + fresh fruit available. -main meals - meat seems of very poor quality, mainly frozen veg-occassionaly fresh & puddings always 'stodgy + full of sugar.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback - we are delighted to hear how much you value the care and support your mum receives. It's wonderful to know that our carers, activities, and overall environment are making such a positive impact. We really appreciate your honest comments regarding the food. We want you to know that we're actively working to enhance the overall dining experience. A new chef has recently joined our team, and improving the quality and variety of our meals is a top priority. I spent 6 weeks at Templeton Place. And from the very first I was treated with respect and friendliness. Nothing was ever too much trouble if I needed help, which I did at times. From the very next day of being here all the staff knew my name. I can't fault the place. Also I would recommend it to anyone.

Review of

Cofton Park Manor Care Home

from Colin B (Cousin of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our cousin came to Cofton Park Manor after a spell in hospital, and from the day he moved in was looked after in a very special way. He had physical and cognitive needs all of which were dealt with caringly and with dignity.
We witnessed firsthand how he had become not just a resident, but a friend
to some of the carers
As we live out of the area, we were confident that he was being looked after well in our absence. Whenever we visited, we were made to feel welcome especially in the in the last few days that he was with us, when we stayed with him and were treated with such kindness.
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Cofton Park Manor to any family who want their loved ones looked after in a caring and dignified way.

Upton Manor Care Home

from C B (Friend of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My friend had recently moved into Upton Manor and she can not stop talking about how wonderful everyone has been to her, you can genuinely see the smile in her face each time we see her. She absolutely loves getting stuck in and joins the activities and events, they always have something going on, she
has formed many new friends and says everyone she has met so far has been loving and kind to her.
The home is always clean, warm, and full of laughter, and we know the staff are always a phone call away if we ever need an update or have a concern.
One of the things that truly sets Upton apart is the incredible range of activities they offer
There's always something happening. The activity person is outstanding she really does go out of the way and I know my very dear friend is truly happy and loves everything that happens a huge credit to the home. To have these teams in home they make all the difference.
She really is happy and Upton is how you want a care home to be.

Edwalton Manor Care Home

from S M (Respite Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I returned to Edwalton Manor as I had stayed before for a few weeks respite, and I enjoyed it so much that when my care needs increased, I didn't hesitate to move back in. There are lots of activities, friend and family are welcome and I can eat my meals in either the dining rooms or my own room. I
have found the personal care to be very good, and the staff are friendly and pop in for frequent chats with me and are always smiling.

Visiting my brother for the first time after only five days in his new home. I'm amazed at how settled and happy he appears. He said she's lovely, she's lovely, she's lovely, pointing to the staff and residents. Beautiful bright room and building. Very comfortable and settled. He was excited about walking
about showing me things. Well done all!

Montague House Care Home

from I W (Resident) assisted by family/friend published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Having had experience of several care homes in the area. There is no doubt that Montague House is by far the best in that I was not only well looked after but every day I was very happy to be one of the residents. I was encouraged to join in some of many groups and my health has benefitted from the
physio, yoga in particular. The staff were always friendly + willing to help. I enjoyed my stay enormously.

Montague House Care Home

from P W (Wife of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband needs care for all his personal needs - so when I have a break he needs to come into care. This March he has stayed at Montague House for 4 weeks. He has experience pf other care houses in the district and Montague House has been a completely different experience. It has been amazing. He
has been very happy becoming more like his 'old self', sociable and eager to join in activities. He has been treated with respect and interest. I can only say it has been a wonderful experience for both of us. We shall certainly let others know what a happy, professional and caring home Montague Home is.

Reply from Jacqueline Brown, Regional Community Relations Lead at Montague House Care Home

Thank you so much for your glowing review. We're honoured that you chose Montague House for your husband's stay, and it's wonderful to hear how much it meant to both of you. Seeing him regain his sociable spirit and enjoy the activities is exactly what we strive for. Your kind words about the respect and care he received mean so much to our team. We look forward to welcoming you both again and are grateful you'll be sharing your experience with others.

Mum's care at Chawley Grove has been wonderful. All the staff have been so friendly and caring towards her, and also supportive to me, as I have been unwell. Mum always looked immaculate, and her room was always clean and tidy. I have also been amazed at the variety of activities available every day
for the residents, so important. I really could not have chosen a better home the whole atmosphere there from reception/office to carers and other staff is one of warmth, kindness and care/concern. Thank you Chawley Grove for taking such good care of mum!!
