Verwood House Care Home

After being cared for in her own home by her family, it was an adjustment for all when she came into the home. The staff have made mum feel welcome and they all have a smile for her or stop for a chat. It is heart warming to see the friendships she has developed with the staff. Our time visiting her
is now quality time instead of rushing round, cleaning and cooking for her. Thank you.
Reply from Alicia Bartlett, Home Ambassador at Verwood House Care HomeThank you so much for sharing this lovely review. We understand that moving into a care home can be a big adjustment, but we're so pleased at how settled and happy your mum is.
We're also delighted that your visits can now be true quality time together. Supporting families as well as residents is an important part of what we do.

I measure the quality of the care home by the people who work there. I am happy that my wife is very well looked after, she is treated with dignity and respect. She is safe and sounds - that gives me great peace of mind. The management team are friendly and approachable. The carers are simply fantastic!
Everyone appears to get on, creating a warm atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Verwood House to others.

Five Stars for Edwalton Manor!
Edwalton Manor has been absolutely outstanding. The staff are truly amazing-warm, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. My mum is so happy there, and seeing her smile every day brings me so much peace of mind.
She is always dressed immaculately, and the
whole place feels like a 5-star hotel rather than a care home. The luxurious carpets, beautifully designed lounges, and spotless surroundings create such a welcoming and elegant atmosphere.
The range of activities is excellent, and Mum loves taking part. The cinema, bistro, and hair salon make it feel like a little community where there's always something to enjoy.
Edwalton Manor has exceeded every expectation. I couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care they provide.

Chawley Grove Care Home

from Rob R (Son of Resident) published on 10 February 2026

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My 100 year old mum arrived at Chawley Grove after a fairly traumatic time having been advised by her previous care home that it would be closing in two months time. Choosing a care home for a loved one is never easy, particularly when there is a deadline involved.....
After two or three false starts
with other care homes in the Oxford area we came across Chawley Grove which ticked all the boxes that needed to be ticked, plus one or two others. Mum finally moved in on the 13th November last year and, whilst clearly apprehensive, has settled in very well and is clearly well looked after.
Reply from Sonja Jueterbock, CRM at Chawley Grove Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such wonderful feedback with us. We are so pleased to have been able to help you find a care home which "ticks all the boxes and more..." and that mum is settled and enjoying her stay with us

It has been such a relief to see my friend J settle into her new life at Edwalton Manor. She had endured many months in various hospitals and she realised herself she was sadly unable to return to independent living.

We did a lot of research into various nursing and residential homes; Edwalton Manor

was our first choice. Louise the CRM showed us around and was clearly genuinely interested in J's life, her emotional and spiritual requirements as well as her physical needs.

The facilities are immaculate and it is a safe environment where J is able to flourish. She is treated with kindness and respect. During her time is hospital she became very withdrawn and depressed. It is moving to see such a profound difference and to see her smiling and happy again Thank you.

Brookwater House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We chose Brookwater House after looking at several other care homes in North London for my 99 year old mother. She was lucky enough to have a room with a balcony overlooking the river.
She recently passed away after spending about 10 very happy months there. I cannot speak highly enough of the warm
and affectionate care she received, culminating in a wonderful 100th birthday celebration for her with an excellent buffet and live music.
My brothers and I will forever have fond memories of all the staff at Brookwater House.
Reply from Daniela Danciulescu, Home Manager at Brookwater House Care HomeDear Etem,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a touching review. We are truly honoured that your mother spent her final months with us at Brookwater House, and it means a great deal to know she was happy and well cared for during that time.
Celebrating her 100th birthday with her and your family was a very special moment for our team, and we're delighted it remains a fond memory for you all. Your kind words about our staff will be shared with them - they will be deeply moved.
It was a privilege to care for your mother, and she will be remembered with great affection.

For us, the most important thing is the way in which the care staff have built a relationship with our mother, enabling her to recover from illness and participate in meals and activities at the
home. They have taken the time to get to know her and her needs and treat her with dignity and attention in meeting those needs. She is encouraged to be active and engage with people as much as possible. Recent family visitors have also commented that there is a caring and friendly atmosphere at the home. Our mother's room is comfortable and warm; the facilities for dining and activities at the home are very good. On our visits we can observe that this excellent level of care and attention is given to all residents. After two months we have seen a clear improvement in our mother's physical health and feel that she is definitely in the right place.
Reply from Alicia Bartlett, Home Ambassador at Verwood House Care HomeThank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful review of your mother's move to Verwood House. We're delighted to hear that our care team's warmth and attention have helped her regain confidence and enjoy her days more fully. Your kind words mean a great deal to our whole team, and we're honoured to be part of your mother's continued wellbeing and comfort.

My auntie is well looked after. If she can't be at home we are happy knowing she is well looked after. Staff are always friendly and happy to help if we have any questions. There is always something going on and we enjoy reading the Daily Sparkle when we visit.

A four week respite stay for my wife who has dementia. From the first contact staff have been caring, compassionate, professional and efficient. I was made welcome on a first exploratory visit as was my wife's sister and then again when I visited with my wife to be assessed.
Staff were very good on
the day of arrival for start of stay in ensuring she was not distressed by my departure. The standard of care remained good in that she was content and relaxed and clearly had enjoyed her stay.
Food that I saw and sampled was good and daily activity schedule looked varied.
I would have no qualms about using Elstow Manor again for respite care.

Our mother received a warm welcome from everyone when moving into Alston House on the eve of her 90th birthday. All members of the Hamberley team have been friendly, supportive and caring. The resident rooms, common areas and facilities are very well presented. The 24/7 nursing care is very good. The
home provides a variety of activities each week and residents are gently encouraged to participate if able which also facilitates socializing and exercising. The lovely meals are varied and enjoyable whatever the appetite. Family and friends are also made most welcome. Our mother of course misses her own house but is very happy with her new surroundings and the excellent care provided.

Edwalton is not only a lovely place to live, which is bright, very homely and has a really great feel of the place, the staff and level of care is excellent.
There are lots of social events for residence to engage with and the quality of the food is 2nd to none, with a great choice but also alternatives
if the days options don't quite meet the needs.

A dear friend of mine moved into Edwalton Manor towards the end of her life, she spent six months firstly in independent living then nursing care when it was required.
She was treated with dignity, given first class care and made many personal connections with the home makers and nursing staff who
she valued greatly.
Thank you for looking after her, it means a lot.

It was my uncle's birthday. We as his local family met at the home to join him for tea. Reg was so happy when a present from the manor arrived at his room, and then a cake arrived. It really made his day. This is just one item of many that the manor team have put on. Thank you.

Edwalton Manor has been absolutely exceptional. My mother-in-law, Pam, is so happy there, and it's wonderful to see how settled and content she feels.
The team creates a genuinely welcoming and uplifting environment, with a wide range of activities that keep residents engaged, active, and smiling.
She loves the darts, boules, dancing and it was really amazing to see everyone interacting with the rabbits, chicken guinea pigs that visit
She has also made some wonderful friends and we really genuinely enjoy visiting her - great cakes and coffee in the bistro
The home feels incredibly safe, and the staff's patience, kindness, and genuine care shine through in everything they do. It gives our family such peace of mind knowing Pam is surrounded by people who truly look after her.
We couldn't be more grateful for the amazing care she receives. Highly recommended

The modern airy well designed building has all the facilities necessary for a contented life. The friendly helpful staff are there for your every need with a smile and a chat. The community spirit is fostered with activities that can involve everyone, the bistro area is fine for having a drink and chatting
to the other residents. The rooms are airy and spacious and made more homely with the addition of personal items. My sister thinks she is in a very good hotel and to some extent she is, but that is the norm there. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always there to help
