Alston House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad has been living in Alston House for just over a year. He settled in from week one. He enjoys the food and wine!

On a few occasions we have had the need to speak to the House manager. Magda is always available and is proactive in updating care plans when there is a need.

The activities are

great, Kelly Marie organises a varied programme in the house and off site. Dad particularly enjoyed the trip to the museum, canal boat ride and visit to the garden centre. The talks gave him lots to talk about and the themed days are a great hit!

All the staff are very friendly and kind. Dad says he's never heard so many people say 'You're Welcome!

Abbots Wood Manor Care Home

from Tony C (Son of Resident) published on 29 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Abbots Wood provides a comfortable living space for its residents, and much effort is taken by staff to ensure that it maintains a 'homely' feel. I have been pleased to see the enhancements to planting in the garden and outdoor areas this summer as they are extremely popular with residents and provide
great options during visits. Social engagement and activities were important criteria in our choice of care home and those on offer are extensive and varied. It is great to see the enthusiastic participation of staff in all pursuits. My mum is passionate about music, and this is very well catered for. Every staff member that I have encountered has been kind and caring and demonstrated a respect for the individual needs of the residents under their supervision. It is extremely reassuring to observe the relationships and mutual trust that exist. I am pleased that we have found a safe and supportive environment for my mum with a keen sense of community and inclusivity.

Having reached the ripe old age of 100 and been living on her own for the last 40 odd years, finding somewhere new to live was never going to be an easy task. On her first visit, Peggy was immediately taken with the home. We then had the constant question, "When am I moving in?" Well, she is now very
much at home, enjoying all the home comforts, wonderful food and 5 star attention she is given.
She could not be happier.

Mum had a lovely respite stay at Dorking Manor, she really felt like she had a little holiday. My mum is a very poor eater but she reported that the food "was out of this world". She enjoyed the activities, especially the exercise sessions. Her care was amazing, she always looked immaculate, as did
her surroundings. Staff were always gentle and smiley in their approach. She returned home more engaged and stronger.

I have been at Dorking Manor Care Home for 4 months, and cannot fault the care and attention shown by all the staff. They are all so friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you have a problem that the staff can't deal with, the management are also very kind and caring. I am
enjoying my stay at Dorking Manor Care Home, and will be here for many more years.

Nesbit House Care Home

It's the most difficult decision - placing your husband into care. The moment I stepped into Nesbit House I knew it would be the perfect place for us. From the Management team to all the homemakers and Nursing staff, I felt confident this would be the right fit. The home is bright and airy and very
comfortable. There are plenty of places to enjoy a visit. The homemakers are compassionate and take the time to get to know you. They are supportive, engage with residents, care for them with professionalism and empathy. In the few months that my husband has been here I have experienced first hand the vocational nature and skills that the Nursing team display. They are impressive and very responsive as issues arise. The Catering team are far superior to anything we expected. From three course lunches, to home baked cakes and snacks on demand. So many work behind the scenes; a family taking care of our families. It's a place where should circumstances dictate, I would be happy.

My husband has been at Dorking Manor for 3 months now.
I am happy with the manner in which my husband is cared for. The carers are very attentive, caring and treat residents with dignity.
I feel my husband is safe and given a lot of one to one care which he needs for his type of dementia.

First impression of the care home was modern, clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you Lovell Place for making Mum and Dad feel at home during their three week respite stay which gave Mum the rest that she truly deserves.
Reply from Sarah Jacka, Customer Relations Manager at Lovell Place Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to complete such a wonderful review for our home. It was our pleasure to have had mum and day stay with us and I know initially Dad was not too sure if he wanted to come but to see him smiling within the first couple of days and embracing his stay to the full was fantastic to see. Mum was able to get the rest she needed and deserved and when meeting her recently at an event in the community she looked great. We are really looking forward to both mum and dad coming back for another holiday as they like to refer to their stay and thank you once again for completing the review.

I cannot praise Lovell Place Care Home enough for how welcome they made us feel and how well they looked after my parents in July when they stayed there for respite care. All of the staff/homemakers were soo caring and understanding and they realky could not have done anymore for them. In the 3 weeks
that they were there they went on numerous outings, took part in the daily activities and were made to feel like it was their home.
My Dad is an avid gardener so leaving his garden for 3 weeks was hard but he was able to potter around the gardens actively taking part and encouraged by all of the staff/homemakers this meant that my Mum could sit and read (which is what she likes to do) without worrying about my Dad as she knew that he was safe.
Both my parents loved being there and described it like a 5 star hotel.
When they went back home after the 3 weeks my Mum described herself as being refreshed and had already decided that she was going back there soon for another 'holiday'.
Reply from Sarah Jacka, Customer Relations Manager at Lovell Place Care Home

It was a pleasure to have had mum and dad stay with us and to see how they both enjoyed their stay. Dad helped us greatly with advice and help in the gardens with attending to the pots, raised flower and herb beds. Mum enjoyed reading her Kindle in the Bistro and it was wonderful to see them both enjoying the trips out and participating in activities. We are so pleased that both mum and dad enjoyed their stay and we are all looking forward to welcoming them back again for another stay. Mum and dad are hopefully coming to our up and coming MacMillan Coffee Morning where they can catch up with friends and the team over coffee and cake. Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful 5 star review it is greatly appreciated and will be shared with all the team.

Cofton Park Manor is not just a Care Home its a big family. All the staff go the extra mile to make your loved one feel safe and supported. You are made to feel part of the family whether you are a resident or a family member.
The building and grounds are so well designed. There is so much space so
that all residents can be together for a variety of activities. The activity programme is amazing and there is something for everyone.
The food is like eating at a restaurant and nothing is too much trouble is you want something different. The private dining room which is available for residents and family making birthdays etc extra special.
Our family would not hesitate to recommend this Care home. The management have provided extra support when needed for my family which has been greatly appreciated.
Cofton Park Manor is really is a gem.

After falling and fracturing my pelvis I spent 10 days in hospital. On my discharge I chose to complete my recovery in Caddington Grove. I was in quite a bad place when I arrived but after 5 weeks I was fully independent and almost back to normal.
I cannot praise the care I received enough. Every
aspect was exceptional. My room, the food, the laundry and daily activity program. But most of all 'the staff'. I will always be grateful for their kindness and willingness to help me.
