Alston House Care Home

John was already very poorly when he came to Alston House. As a family we knew what we were to face. The welcome we all received was so comforting straight away. As a visitor each day and visit of his loving family, including very young children, was just wonderful from day one. On entering the home,
we walked into a sanctuary of kindness, welcome and loving understanding. Every member of staff was of comfort and reassurance. John's care was just wonderful in every way. He was given love, dignity and empathetic care.

I would like to thank all the staff at the Care Home for their kindness and empathy for my mother after what has been quite a distressing time, after a fall, and three weeks in hospital .
It was very reassuring for us, as her family, to know that she will be well cared for and that they will endeavour
to make sure all her needs are met.

Ever since we came to visit for the first time, everyone has been so friendly and helpful. The office staff & management have guided us through everything & the staff looking after mum have been amazing.
The activities have been fantastic & mum's taken part in nearly all of them. She loved the 'Dinky
Ponies' that came to visit & really enjoys the art & flower arranging as well as the visiting singers & trips out to the local garden centre.
The food is really good & plenty of it, with a wide range of options.
I can honestly say that I haven't seen my mum looking so happy & healthy for a long time

Cambridge Grove Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Nan was a resident at Cambridge Grove and absolutely loved every minute she spent there. She always said how friendly the staff were and how much opportunity she had to join in with activities. She loved going down to the cinema with some of her friends from her floor and watching different movies every
week. Nan really enjoyed the food and like how she was given different options and could request things given enough time. We also celebrated her birthday in their private dining room and the person who looked after us down there was brilliant. We were welcomed with flowers and a card from the heads of department and Nan had a lovely send off with many staff saying goodbye. Overall our experience at Cambridge Grove was amazing and I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved one to stay

Elstow Manor Care Home

from Robert P (Son of Resident) published on 31 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My mother was a resident of Elstow Manor for some 6 months, and we found it to be an excellent facility. Very modern, very clean, providing very good care in this time for both dementia and non-dementia residents.
The staff are all professional and caring and the facilities are well maintained.
The
only reasons that we have moved my mother to an alternative care home after her stay at Elstow Manor are (a) location - her new care home is much closer to our family home and (b) cost - unfortunately not many people have a limitless budget, so we had to make a decision to move to a cheaper care home which still provided excellent care but maybe not at the "5 star" level of Elstow Manor. This was obviously a difficult decision and in no way reflects on the staff, who are all, in the main, excellent.
Reply from Val Foley, Customer Relations Manager at Elstow Manor Care HomeThank you for kind review and we are already missing your lovely Mum and wish her well . We appreciate location is important for families and we are grateful for the time we got to know Mum while she was here . Understandably , cost is a key element with placing into a care home and we pride ourselves on the 5 star care and dignity we offer here at Elstow which your mum appreciated . We send our love you your Mum .

Newton House Care Home

from Lesley I (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has become a resident of the community which make up Newton House in the past 6 weeks.
She has been welcomed by kind caring attentive respectful home maker staff. Her room is lovely, nicely decorated with the facility to have some of her own furnishings, pictures and photos which of course make
it hers.
She is helped with the areas of her care with which she requires help and has enjoyed meeting other residents and participating in some of the many activities offered daily.
The staff clearly know their residents and families very well and treat all with dignity and respect.
Mum enjoys her meals and has actually gained weight since coming here!
I think she is still getting used to her new way of life but is clearly very comfortable and secure in her new surroundings.
We hope that she will continue to thrive in her new home with the help of all the staff.
Reply from Megan Templeton, Home Ambassador at Newton House Care HomeLesley, It's been an absolute pleasure getting to know your mum - and your whole family too. Building those relationships means a great deal to all of us here at Newton House.
We're really glad to hear that she's settling in well and enjoying her room. Having her own photos and familiar bits around her truly helps make the space feel like home. Our Homemakers will be delighted to know that their kindness and support have helped her feel welcomed and cared for.
It's wonderful that she's been joining in with activities, making new connections, and enjoying her meals - and we're especially happy knowing she's healthier and has gained some weight since moving in. Adjusting to a new home can take time, but it's lovely to see her becoming more comfortable and confident each day.
Thank you again for your kind words. We feel very lucky to be part of your mum's life and to have such a wonderful family alongside her. If there is anything we can do going forward, please just speak to our team.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Cambridge Grove is certainly not your average Care Home! The building and grounds are modern and clean, the staff are all friendly and welcoming, the residents are offered lots of activities to keep them busy and entertained, the food is great and the care exemplary.
My mum moved into Cambridge Grove
mid 2025 after initially staying for respite. We knew after her respite stay that there was nowhere else that we would want her to be! She has benefitted so much from the social interaction from staff and other residents and it is such a relief to know that she is safe, well fed and cared for so well by the staff.
We visit regularly and are always made to feel welcome - it's become like a home from home for us too. My children love to visit their Grandma and are always spoilt with lots of attention from the staff and residents too. It's a great place to be able to carry on making happy memories together as a family.
Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care HomeThank you for your review. Your kind words about our team and the care provided are greatly appreciated. We're passionate about making Cambridge Grove feel like home for everyone and we're so pleased to hear you feel that way, too.

We love having your children visit too - they have built a fabulous rapport with other residents on Mum's Suite and we thoroughly enjoy watching their bond with their Grandma.

Thank you again for your trust and support-it's a privilege to care for your mum and to be part of your family's journey.

Mum stayed at Lovall Place for 2 weeks whilst we had a holiday. She loved it. It was her holiday. Five star all inclusive. It was 6 weeks ago and she is still talking about it. I think she's looking for a job as she spends a lot of time recommending it to all her lady friends. Special thanks to all

Elstow Manor Care Home

Mum has always had excellent care at Elstow Manor, she was there for nearly 4 years I was never worried about any care issues as I new they were all met, I chose this home as it was modern, clean bright and did not smell of urine, no sitting in a horrible room in a circle waiting to die, happy atmosphere
through the home, plenty going on every day, and when she was well she had trips out that was included in her care fees. Peace of mind is so important for family members that your loved one is happy and cared for. I went in anytime and mum was always clean. Would highly recommend this home.
