Belong Chester opened its doors on 18th July 2022; located in the heart of the city, adjacent to its historic canal, the inter-generational community provides world-leading dementia and nursing care, with 24-hour support available across six extended family-sized households and 23 independent living apartments, the latter available to purchase or rent.
The Nursery in Belong, the village's 25-place intergenerational nursery, featuring a secure sensory nature and play garden, provides a high-quality care and learning environment for children from birth to five years, designed to offer shared learning experiences and opportunities for children, families and older people.
Designed by Altrincham-based Pozzoni Architecture, the village hub features a range of other facilities, including a bistro, hair salon, exercise studio and function rooms.
Outreach services include home care and a specialist day care service known as ‘Experience Days’, which enables customers to take advantage of village amenities and the specialist dementia support available.
As a prominent city-centre location, the village offers enhanced opportunities for social interaction and integration with the wider community. Car parking is provided for customers and Electric Vehicle Charging points are available.
The site extends to Queen’s Avenue and involves the landscaping of surrounding areas, including the canal-side conservation area, for the benefit of local residents.

My dad moved into a household a few months ago. He is well looked after, from the meals he receives to the daily help he requires. The staff are all friendly and supportive. Activities and regular exercise are on offer if you want to join in. Dad has flourished here and in his own words, nowhere could beat it and he couldn't be looked after any better. The rooms and furniture are all modern and bright but with a homely feel. The residents interact with the children's nursery which is on-site and it makes my dad's day as the children all know him by name.

The staff are very kind and nothing seems too much for them to make my husband safe and happy. Plenty of lovely food and facilities are next to none, and plenty of entertainment to keep my husband occupied. Belong Chester is a lovely home. I know my husband is being well looked after and he is very happy here.

Our mum has been here for a month now in one of the 12-bed households and has settled in really well, despite her challenges. The staff are all knowledgeable and delightful, and the household is a very happy place. The household set-up suits Mum very well as she can be part of everyday life here....
Our mum has been here for a month now in one of the 12-bed households and has settled in really well, despite her challenges. The staff are all knowledgeable and delightful, and the household is a very happy place. The household set-up suits Mum very well as she can be part of everyday life here. Most of their food is prepped and cooked in the household, so she can really join in at meal times. The residents have access to a range of high-quality facilities and activities and are encouraged to join in together. We can get regular updates, and the staff clearly know and understand Mum's needs. The city centre location is ideal for family and friends to visit and for taking Mum out for little trips and walks. The management has been informative, supportive and communicative.

Mum moved to Belong Chester this month from another care home and she has been made to feel very welcome to the household and the other residents. Belong is very well equipped and has super facilities on offer, and the household is warm and friendly. It is in a great location on City Road, right on the canal, so plenty of opportunity for people watching from the balcony. The staff and management team have all been great - flexible and really easy to talk to and work with, and they take time for Mum on an individual level (as well as group activities), including taking her out for walks and shopping when they can. That Belong is a not-for-profit organisation makes me feel so much more comfortable as the fees are being spent on looking after the residents rather than going to shareholders.

She made the switch from working in retail management in February 2017 when she moved from her home town in Birkenhead, Merseyside, to Atherton, Greater Manchester.
With a passion for supporting others, she was quickly promoted to senior care roles, initially in a care home setting and then later working out in the community.
She joined Belong at Home Atherton early in 2022 and then took up the post in Chester as the home care service was launched following the opening of Belong’s newest care village in the city later that year.
With responsibility for the recruitment of colleagues and managing the provision of outstanding customer care, Heather is a dedicated and hard-working individual who has made a big impact in a short space of time.
