Our dad was one of the first residents at Haywood Lodge Care Home when it opened and stayed there until his passing a couple of weeks ago. We felt confident that he was having the most caring team taking care of his everyday needs. They went above and beyond their job duties and operated with kindness throughout. He was given love and respect by the team and we will be forever grateful to them.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Haywood Lodge

Overall Experience
I stayed at Haywood Lodge for 2 weeks of respite care from Sunday 12th May following a hip replacement operation, knowing that as I live alone, I would not have been able to look after myself. One of the best decisions I could have made, as the 2-week period allowed me to be looked after properly without causing me any concerns.
From the moment I checked in I was cared for by all the staff in an exemplary way and whether I needed the red button to call upon them or not, they would show up regularly with smiling faces to check on me and see if they could be of any help. This made me feel so good, allowing me to gain confidence.
Food was excellent and extremely varied and there was not one occasion when I was not satisfied with the quality of cooking or service.
I have now been home for a week progressing well, but I know that without the care and attention at Haywood Lodge, my recovery would not be so far forward.

The manager and her staff cannot be faulted and I sincerely thank them.

Overall Experience

Our 97-year-old great-aunt became a permanent resident in March of 2024 after living in her home alone became too much hard work. After living there for over 65 years it was a very difficult decision, but everyone from the reception, care, housekeeping and management teams made the move so smooth and effortless for her. She is warm, well-fed, comfortable and happier than we could ever imagine and can be as involved or independent as she wants to be but the knowledge that there is always someone there at the push of a button if needed, is so reassuring to all of us. Everyone is so kind, and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble plus the regular hair-dressing and chiropodist appointments are a great addition to the normal care you expect to receive in a residential home. Thank you to all of the lovely people at Haywood Lodge for such a smooth and easy transition with the care that is second to none

Mum and Dad moved to Haywood Lodge after a challenging six months. They both have different needs and were tired physically and emotionally. As soon as they arrived, they were made extremely welcome and nothing has changed since. The home is outstanding in every aspect of its work. The building is attractive and immaculate. The rooms are lovely and the lounges are homely and residents mix freely with each other. The cinema and hairdressing salon are used regularly. The quality of the food is fully appreciated. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the communication between the team is excellent. They are responsive to individual needs and engage with residents with respect dignity and kindness. The activities are regular and varied. The local community is engaged which stimulates the residents. The management is exemplary and well-respected by staff, residents and family members. It is a home away from home. Mum and Dad are safe, well cared for and happy. Thank you.

My Mother has been staying at Haywood Lodge for the past three weeks and in all of that time, every member of staff has gone out of their way to make Mum feel welcome and settled. Treating her with the utmost care and dignity. During this period we had a family wedding and again the staff ensured Mum felt ready to attend by helping her get ready in plenty of time ensuring she didn't feel anxious or stressed in any way. All staff continue to show true empathy and compassion to everyone in their care. Thank you.

When my sister and I first attended Haywood Lodge, we immediately felt at home and knew it would be ideal for our mum. The support given to us in this difficult time has been outstanding. From the home manager, care staff, maintenance and chef. The difference the home has made to our mum is indescribable, and we have nothing but praise and gratitude to all the team.

My mother has been in Haywood Lodge for only 3 weeks, a direct transfer from hospital which was arranged very efficiently. The home is modern with excellent facilities, even has a cinema room. The food is very good, the bedrooms are beautiful and very well equipped with TV and wet room, and plenty of wardrobe space. The staff are very caring, nothing is too much trouble for them, they even arranged a small family party for her birthday.

My dad has been a resident at Haywood Lodge for two months. I have been really impressed with all aspects of his care so far. He was quite poorly when he came in and they have really looked after him to the point where he is thriving and enjoying himself in his later years.

The whole team have been very caring and it's a lovely environment for him to be in.

I visit on occasion with my sister whose next-door neighbour is a resident. I have found from my very first visit that it is a homely, warm place to live, it's not like a home for the elderly. It is almost like a top-class hotel but workers are like your friends. I can't explain it really other than care is utmost. You have privacy in a beautiful room. Everyone always looks happy, their meals smell like a top-class hotel/restaurant, cooked on the premises, where else would you get that? I wouldn't mind living here if there was a need, First class.

My mother was very sceptical about going into care home as respite care, however since her stay she cannot stop telling everyone how wonderful it was and recommending it. We have since gone back for a visit so she could catch up with friends and staff and have booked in for a further stay when I have an operation. Overall everything was excellent especially the staff.

Cannot recommend it highly enough.

There is no better recommendation than one from someone who has stayed with us in the home and we are so pleased that your mother will be coming back to us! The friendships built in the home are wonderful to see and you and your mother are always welcome to come back in, the kettle is never far from on!

It's hard to admit you need to put your mum in a home, the minute I walked into Haywood Lodge I knew Mum would be happy there. The staff are lovely, they treat Mum and the other residents as if they are family so caring and loving. I can see Mum whenever I want to, have meals and afternoon tea. Nothing is ever too much trouble! Thank you.

After a day in hospital, my friend had to accept that she couldn't look after herself and, like many people, was reluctant to go into a care home. Haywood Lodge took the time to settle her in and kept me updated with how she was getting on. From the minute you walk into the home, there is a really welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all lovely and give excellent care, with hospitality extended to family and friends. The staff at Haywood even went so far as to find out about my friend's interests and hobbies and established that she had sang with a local choir prior to joining them. They arranged for the choir to come along and give a surprise performance, this made her day. I would not hesitate to recommend Haywood Lodge to anyone.

The care provided was attentive and proactive during the period pf my visits. The atmosphere was relaxed. Staff appeared to have the time to talk to residents and to act on their own initiative, certainly in small matters. The room and common areas were pleasant and of course modern.
