What I do:
I am proud to join The Gables team as Associate General Manager of this stunning care home in Hagley.
My experience:
I started my journey off in the care sector back in 1998 I started off as a health care assistant working in various care homes and was a personal assistant for a while until I fell pregnant with my oldest child. I completed my NVQ 2 and 3 in health care and continued to progress in various roles again within the care homes I became a senior carer in 2003 and then moved to community care once I had passed my driving test. I became a team leader in the community and then a medication technician in 2008. I then made the brave decision to do my nursing training back in 2009 and qualified as a general adult nurse in 2012. I always felt my goal in life was to provide the best possible care to anyone who I looked after. The feeling that I can help somebody made it my passion.
About me:
I am enthusiastic, ambitious, loyal, and hard working. I am a family woman with 5 (yes 5) children, 1 granddaughter and a husband who I married in 2011 whilst doing my nurse training, I love animals and have a British/American bulldog called Marley and 2 cats Loki and Luna (who are my fur babies). I enjoy watching I’m a Celebrity and Britain’s Got Talent. I am also a dab hand at cross stitch but can’t sew (lol). I really enjoy going out on family days out but also love it when I can go out with our adult family and friends and let our hair down.
WHAT I DO: I am the Home Admissions Advisor at The Gables Care Home and joined the team in July 2023. My role within the home is to guide families on their journey into residential care, to work with the community and to showcase our beautiful home.
MY EXPERIENCE: I have recently moved into this role having been an estate agent for nearly twenty years. My time spent helping people to move home has given me a good understanding of how important finding the right place to call home is. My move into the residential care sector comes from personal experience with moving a close family member into care, which gives me a level of empathy and understanding.
ABOUT ME: Outside of work, I am a husband and dad to five wonderful children and a cocker spaniel called Max. In what very little free time I have left, I enjoy paddle boarding and going to the gym.
As Head Chef, I lead the experienced catering team within the home. We create varied menus, always using fresh ingredients prepared in-house to make delicious and nutritious meals with residents' tastes always taking priority. It is so rewarding to see the morale boost great food can give to people.
What do I do:
My role at The Gables as Head Housekeeper is to ensure my brilliant team of housekeepers and I maintain immaculate high standards throughout the home. We make sure all the communal areas and, of course, residents' rooms and suites are kept beautiful as well as looking after their laundry. I feel very privileged to be able to work with such a fantastic team and in such a luxurious home and enjoy interacting with our residents every day.
My experience:
I have worked in care for 4 years, and for over 2 years as a Head Housekeeper. I am really looking forward to meeting our families and residents and making sure I maintain high standards throughout the home. Previously I worked for Mothercare, where I gained a lot of experience in running the store, store presentation, housekeeping and dealing with the public.
About me:
In my spare time, I like to see my 2 grown-up daughters Chloe and Isabell and my two grandchildren. I also enjoy gardening & cooking, especially brownies. I also love to socialise with my friends as often as I can. I’m a very bubbly person and love speaking to the residents and hearing their stories about their lives. I will strive to go above and beyond for their needs.
What I Do: I am the home maintenance manager; I joined the team in March 2023. My role is to make sure all compliance is up to date and the home is safe for all residents, staff, and family members, I am also responsible for security on site and decoration of the home.
My experience: I have been in the maintenance sector for over 25 years, I’m qualified as an electrician, Carpenter, painter, and decorator. I have worked in the care sector for 5 years now, before working in care I spent 12 years working for Carillion, where I spent a lot of time travelling the country looking after banks and hospitals. I also spent 4 years in the armed forces.
About Me: Outside of work, I am a husband of 23 years and have 2 grown-up children who are the apple of my eye, all my spare time is spent with family and our dog Ben. I also enjoy football and rugby and long walks with my wife and dog over the countryside.
Hi, my name is Sam. I recently transferred from Manchester to the West Midlands, where I now reside with my partner. I am delighted to join the Gables as the Business Administrator. My role is to support the General Manager by overseeing administrative, financial, and commercial functions at home level.
I have extensive Administration experience throughout my career and joined the private health care sector over 9 years ago. I have had the pleasure of working within Nursing & Residential Homes both in Manchester and now in the West Midlands. I have worked for different Providers, building my knowledge of the day to day running of care homes, whose sole purpose which is reflective of my own personal standards, is to provide the highest level of care whilst promoting, dignity, independence and ensuring that the care we provide is integral to each individuals personal choices, and that our residents are embraced and encouraged to continue to lead a fulfilling lives, whilst in the luxury surroundings where the Resident is at the heart of all we do.
It is a pleasure to work for a provider that demonstrates driving standards to be an excellent care provider, and who clearly continue to strive for standards no less than excellent. Staff like me are supported and provided with all the necessary training and tools required, enabling us to not only continue to develop our skill set within our desired area of employment, but to feel rewarded and confident that our Employer is equally as committed to staff as they are the people they provide care for. I am very excited for my next chapter at The Gables.
I am the Wellbeing and Lifestyle lead at The Gables. In this role, I plan and oversee all the activities in the home. It is a busy and varied role, where I have the privilege of spending time with the residents on a group and individual basis, both at the Gables or out and about in our minibus.
Prior to working at the Gables, I worked for the Alzheimer's Society, running groups across Birmingham and Solihull for people living with dementia and their loved ones. Prior to this, I worked in drama and theatre for many years and am happy to be able to transfer the skills acquired to my role with Cinnamon.
I am a proud mum of two great teenagers and own a lovely dog called Trixie. My parents passed on to me a great love of the outdoors, gardening, swimming and having a good old chinwag.
