After considering a couple of care homes for Dad, we settled on Watermeadow Grange because, as a family, we felt it was the right place for him.
Dad knew the time had come for him to move into a home, and he had enjoyed looking around and meeting the managers.
All of the staff are friendly and treat
Dad with dignity and respect.
There are a variety of activities available, which Dad joins in with occasionally, and the organisers always check in with him if he is not there.
The food is great too!
Dad recently had an emergency hospital visit which was handled very professionally by the staff involved.
After a night in the hospital, Dad returned, and it was lovely to see the staff welcome him back; Dad was emotional too, as he was back where he felt at home with people he recognised.
As a family, we know Dad is being cared for and supported at Watermeadow and is happy there.
If we have any queries, they are answered quickly.
Reply from Selina Sapsford, Home Admissions Advisor at Watermeadow GrangeThank you so very much for your truly wonderful review. We are so pleased to hear you are so happy with the care your dad receives at Watermeadow Grange and that he has settled so well into his new home. He certainly is part of the 'family' and has a wonderful sense of humour, which we all thoroughly enjoy!

My mother moved to Watermeadow Grange six months ago. The care is excellent. There are always plenty of staff around. My mother has dementia so cannot always join in with some of the activities but the staff provide very person-centred care and she is encouraged and enabled to do as much as possible.
She tells me the staff are lovely and she feels safe and well cared for.
Reply from Selina Sapsford, Home Admissions Advisor at Watermeadow GrangeThank you for such positive feedback, which we will share with the team. We are so pleased to hear you are happy with the care provided by the team and especially that your mum feels safe and well cared for!

My father has been in respite in this amazing care home 3 times now, the staff and service is beyond outstanding, nothing is ever too much trouble. He was lucky enough to open the marketing suite in March 2023 as he was once the local policeman of Topsham. He is counting down the days until he returns
(and me to visit for the yummy cakes).
Reply from Selina Sapsford, Home Admissions Advisor at Watermeadow GrangeThank you so much for your wonderful feedback, we're so pleased to hear your dad enjoys his stays with us and you like visiting just as much! The care I am having here at Watermeadow is of the highest ends. It is delivered with extreme kindness and empathy. I spent a lot of my earlier years alone, nursing my mother through rheumatoid arthritis and I had a little boy who was disabled. I therefore wholly appreciate the care I am having.

Very friendly staff who are tolerant of relatives coming in and out. Sensitive to my mother's needs. Willing to engage members of the local community to enhance the residents' lives, for example the singing group being led by the local choirmaster. Comfortable rooms with plenty of light. Staff are very
prompt to act and initiate procedures when there appears to be a medical issue.
Reply from Selina Sapsford, Home Admissions Advisor at Watermeadow GrangeThank you for your kind words we will be sure to share this with the team. We are so pleased that you are happy with the care provided and the community relationships we have been building to help enhance our residents' lives. We love welcoming all our visitors to our home! Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

We arranged a luncheon at Watermeadow Grange for close family to celebrate the life of my Father who passed away at the home in February. His expressed wish was not to have a funeral but for the family to meet for a meal and remember all the good times we had enjoyed with him over the years. The occasion
could not have gone better. The food and service were excellent and the private dining room proved the perfect setting for his important occasion. The staff were all so caring and made such a great effort to make sure that my Mother felt supported on what was a very emotional day for her. The whole family is immensely grateful to all the wonderful people at Watermeadow Grange.
Reply from Selina Sapsford, Home Admissions Advisor at Watermeadow GrangeThank you for taking the time to leave us such positive feedback. Our father was initially booked in for two weeks of respite care, although sadly he passed away at the end of that period. We couldn't have wished for better care during his brief stay at Watermeadow Grange. The biggest compliment we can pay is that the facility is more like a hotel than a care home.
However, the biggest plus is the staff. Every member of the team that we met was friendly, professional and compassionate. They gave each family member the confidence to leave early at night knowing that Dad would be cared for. During his final hours, Dad and all family members were treated with the utmost care and dignity. Thoroughly recommended.

The first time visited, I was very impressed with the open spaces and the decor. Very approachable staff who are all very pleasant, kind and helpful. Excellent food and peaceful surroundings. Everything is clean and tidy and it feels more like a 5-star hotel and very impressive. It is a delight to see

Mum moved into Watermeadow Grange recently. It was a huge upheaval for her to move from her own home. She has settled in really well and that is very much down to the gentle care and attention she has received from everyone since she moved in. On my visits, I have found everyone very friendly and helpful
and most importantly they all seem to really enjoy their work and genuinely care for the welfare of the residents. Nothing is too much trouble.

Watermeadow is truly a wonderful place in so many ways - the food is excellent - all freshly made and the food choices are tailored to all tastes. The surroundings are fabulous - very clean and very tastefully decorated throughout. The itinerary for activities for the residents is excellent - Mum particularly enjoys the daily exercise classes which have already impacted her general strength and mobility.

I feel that so much care and thought has gone into all aspects of the home and feel very lucky that we were able to secure a room for mum.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.944)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.944) out of 10 for Watermeadow Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Watermeadow Grange is calculated as follows: ( (405 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 429 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Watermeadow Grange is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

What I Do
My name is Tanya, and I am a Home Admissions Advisor. My role is to provide information and support to those looking at moving into care and the options available to them. Choosing the right care home can be a difficult decision to make, whether it be future planning or reacting to a crisis, it’s often a daunting, emotional experience for the prospective resident or their family, but I am here to make the journey simple, clear and give all the answers to all the questions you may have and make the process a positive one.

My Experience
Delivering excellent customer service has always been a passion of mine, and I have many years of experience working in the social housing sector. However, for the last 6 years, I have worked in the luxury care home sector, which has been so rewarding, and it’s always been a pleasure to be the first point of contact for people enquiring. I strongly believe in treating people in the same way I would expect myself or my family to be treated. A little bit of kindness goes a long way. After relocating to North Devon, I am proud to be working for Cinnamon Care Collection and continue in a role I am passionate about with a company that shares the same passions and ethics as I do.

About Me
I relocated from Wiltshire to North Devon with my partner to follow our self-build dream, selling our beautiful home to move onto our plot (yes, in a caravan!), so for the foreseeable future, my spare time will be on the site getting stuck in to make the dream a reality! When I do get some ‘me’ time, I am a keen runner, having completed numerous half marathons to eventually complete a full marathon, I’d be happy just doing it once though!! I have two grown-up children and am so lucky to have the most adorable 3-year-old granddaughter.
