The whole place has a lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk in.

Staff and facilities are excellent.
Impressions and quality of attention exceed some of 5 star hotels I have stayed in around the world.

As a resident for only 2 weeks on respite care, I cannot fault Heathland House, especially as this is my second visit.

My husband, who is my carer, had to have an emergency pacemaker fitted, which left us needing help. We were recommended Heathland House. We applied and were accepted. We were both delighted with the care we were given; all the staff, without exception, were extremely kind, caring, helpful, and all seemed to go the extra mile. We stayed two weeks and feel so much better for the rest. The food was lovely, well presented and nourishing. In all, we had a very happy stay and enjoyed every moment

I am a Domicillary care assistant and have visited many care homes over the past 10 years, recently a client of mine has come to stay at Heathland I visit her regularly, all the staff are of a high calibre very polite and friendly nothing is too much trouble.
The carers are of an excellent standard too, after working in this role myself I know only to well what makes a carer an outstanding one and the carers at Healthland fulfil these qualities.
The home is immaculate in it decor and cleanliness the gardens too are beautiful and an inviting place to be.
Healthland feels like a top class hotel and the quality of meals and presentation reflect this.
It is extremely well managed and staff are always polite, kind and helpful.
I look forward to coming to Healthland it is in a league of its own!

We have never regretted choosing Heathland House for my father who, at 97, could no longer look after himself safely. The home is well designed and does not have the feel of a care home - no 'circle of doom' as he described circles of chairs that he saw in other care homes. The residents have plenty of activities if they choose to participate.

In the final few weeks of his life the care home really came into its own and I cannot fault the care they gave him. The staff really knew him and his likes and dislikes and were always cheerful and chatted to him when they needed to attend to him. Their support for us was amazing and we could visit at any time of day or night. Overall, Heathland House is an example of how a Care home should be run- both efficient and empathetic.

I visited quite a number of local care homes before selecting Heathland House. The best facility is nothing without the people - the team at HH are outstanding, friendly, committed and genuinely want to provide the best for residents. Care is comprehensive and professional, so it is reassuring to know that Mum is in the best and safest place possible. Well done to the whole team.

My mother has been at Heathland House since April 2025. I have been impressed with all aspects of the home, the atmosphere, the activities, the decor, but mostly the staff. All staff are welcoming and supportive of visitors. The staff who care for my mum are attentive, professional and thoughtful, and I feel happy when I leave, knowing my mum is in safe hands. My mum's circumstances have changed markedly since April; at each stage of deterioration, the care plan has been adapted, and I am confident that Mum receives the best care.

My mum has just passed away peacefully after spending almost a year at Heathland House. She was not keen to move into residential care but the whole team worked hard to ensure they knew her habits and preferences and made her feel settled, valued and cared for.
She subsequently had a very contented few months. The home is beautifully clean and well maintained with good food, a sociable cafe and a lovely sunny garden. The staff very kindly but tenaciously encouraged her to be as independent as possible.
As a family we were always welcomed and felt listened to when necessary.
Very sadly my mum's health deteriorated acutely, Heathland House were fantastic in supporting dignified end of life care, all her family were able to visit.

We would like to specifically mention two staff members whose kindness and care was exceptional.

A warm welcoming home offering residents and their families a friendly community. Excellent well equipped rooms, spacious and inviting lounges and fabulous cafe area that are well used so no-one needs to feel alone or lonely.
Great activities, we are obviously very lucky in Dorset with visiting entertainers! Residents are encouraged to join in or start up activities in areas they enjoy.
Everywhere is easily accessible, including lift access.
Nice sunny garden for relaxation or your daily walks.

The staff are excellent and are responsible for making the home such a lovely place to be.

My friend of 71 years is not the easier of people to manage, and yet the staff at Heathland House find ways to encourage her to eat and dress and even be quite sociable at times! I am extremely impressed.

Further it was her birthday, and I requested a chocolate cake, with chocolate icing and more chocolate on top, (chocolate is one of the few things she will eat!) and they excelled themselves with a beautiful looking and tasting cake, some prosecco and even a gift (chocolates!!) and came in and sang happy birthday to her. It was above wonderful!

The wisdom, patience, gentleness and even tough love, when necessary, are generously dished out!

There are many choices for care homes in this area, and I visited most before choosing Heathland - what a great decision that was! A BIG thank you to all the staff who care for my friend so beautifully!

I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care my dad receives at Heathland House. Living with dementia can be challenging, but the staff here are patient, understanding, and truly dedicated to providing the best possible support. They treat my dad with kindness, dignity, and respect, ensuring he feels safe and comfortable every day.

The environment is warm and welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to engage residents in meaningful activities that stimulate their minds and bring joy. It gives me and our family great peace of mind knowing he is in a place where he is not only well cared for but also valued as an individual.

This is my fifth month of living in Heathland House. Being in this care home over Christmas couldn't have gone better. The entertainment each week with singers, musicians, and a lovely school choir. Even Father Christmas came around with presents for everyone. I particularly enjoy the 'use it or lose' exercise class, and I am also learning tai chi. As I suffer from macular degeneration the management has found a blind class for me to attend every two weeks and they provide transport to and from the group. The staff are so helpful with all my needs. Cups of tea with biscuits and cake are always available. I have settled in now and it is truly my home.

What I Do

It is my role to ensure that Heathland House is a place where both residents and staff can thrive and feel happy. I oversee the day-to-day running of the home while equipping our heads of departments with the tools and support they need to excel in their roles. I enjoy collaborating with others and fostering positive connections across the home, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and motivated.

My Experience

I hold a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, a BSc in Psychology, and an MSc in Conservation and Biology. I have over 10 years of experience as a Care Home Manager in the Dorset area, during which I successfully developed two services from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ CQC-rated homes. I have extensive experience in using positive behaviour support to help individuals flourish in residential care. My previous role was as Registered Manager of the largest elderly care home in Dorset. At Heathland House, I am now combining my expertise in quality care with the luxury and comfort our home provides, creating an environment that exceeds expectations.

About Me

I live by the sea with my young family. We enjoy forest walks, dancing in the living room, and exploring creative activities together. I am a naturally positive person who enjoys finding solutions to complex challenges. I am passionate about learning—while I may not have all the answers, I am always willing to find them.

What I Do

My name is Mary Stepin, and I am the Deputy Manager at Heathland House, having joined the team in December 2022. I work closely with the General Manager to ensure that residents, their families, and our staff team are fully supported. My role is focused on delivering a service that is personalised to the needs and wishes of each resident, fostering a caring and compassionate environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

My Experience

I began my career in Social Care in 1984 as a Care Assistant in a residential home run by Dorset Council, later transferring to the Borough of Poole following the reorganisation of local authorities. In 1996, I moved to Germany and worked at the Army Medical Centre, gaining valuable international experience. Upon returning to the UK, I joined a local Housing Association as a Registered Manager, where I developed Supported Living, Domiciliary Care, and Extra Care services for the community. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in managing care services and supporting both residents and staff to achieve the highest standards of care.

About Me

I am married with five children and four grandchildren. Football has always been a passion of mine—growing up, I played informally with friends and at school when girls weren’t officially allowed to play. While living in Germany, I managed several children’s teams, and now I enjoy watching the game from the terraces as a season ticket holder with AFC Bournemouth. Outside of football, I love spending quality time with my family and attending music concerts.

What I Do

I am the Deputy Manager at Heathland House, overseeing the care floors to ensure residents receive the highest standards of support. My responsibilities include managing admissions and discharges, monitoring care plans, overseeing medication administration, and completing audits for the care elements of the service. I also supervise and support our dedicated care team, fostering a positive, professional environment where residents’ well-being is always the top priority.

My Experience

I have 18 years of experience in the care sector, beginning with supporting children with autism in schools and later assisting adults with disabilities living in the community. I then transitioned into residential care, gaining experience in both a nursing home and a dementia care home. Before joining Heathland House, I served as Deputy Manager in a large mixed dementia and residential home for another provider for two years, further developing my leadership and care management skills.

About Me

I am an animal lover with a large herd of guinea pigs, a small group of chickens, and two family dogs. I enjoy a range of crafts, including sewing, knitting, floristry, candle making, and decoupage. I also cherish spending quality time with my family and socialising with friends, balancing my professional life with the hobbies and relationships that bring me joy.

Having supported two of my own family members to find the right care for them in previous years and been involved in older persons' housing for longer than I would like to mention, it would be a privilege to assist you in your search.

My past experience has also been within an estate agency as well as residential care, which gives me the insight to signpost you to advice and support.

What I Do

As the Wellbeing and Lifestyle Lead, I am responsible for ensuring that all residents have access to engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful activities throughout the day. I take pride in listening to each resident, tailoring activities to their individual preferences and interests. I also strive to ensure that every activity reflects Cinnamon’s core values and high standards by incorporating both physical and mental stimulation to support and enhance each resident’s cognitive and physical well-being.

My Experience

Before joining Heathland House, I gained valuable experience across a variety of unique roles. My passion for theatre began early, and I worked as a children’s entertainer at the Sandbanks Hotel while completing my BA Honors degree in musical theatre. At 22, I chose to explore a different path, completing a master’s degree in Zoo Biology and beginning my career as a zookeeper, specialising in the care of large mammals.

Alongside this, I took on a role as a domiciliary carer, where I discovered a genuine passion for the care sector. This experience led me to a supervisory position within a domiciliary care company, which I enjoyed, but I knew I wanted a role that was more active and creative — a journey that ultimately brought me to Heathland House.

About Me

I grew up in Ferndown and moved to Southampton in 2017 to complete my university degree. I’ve stayed there ever since and now share my home with my two cats, Raya and Eva. I’m a very active person who loves a challenge — I regularly take part in running events, and my biggest goal will be completing the London Marathon in 2026. What I Do

I provide administrative support, helping to ensure processes are well organised, records are accurate, and both colleagues and visitors feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive. I am naturally positive, and I find real satisfaction in contributing to a warm, professional environment that supports the wider team and ultimately enhances the experience of our residents.

My Experience

I have spent my entire career working in administration, building a strong and varied skill set that supports me in my role today. Over the years, I have developed excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills, allowing me to manage multiple responsibilities with efficiency. Working in fast-paced environments has strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure and provide consistent support to both management and colleagues.

About Me

I enjoy leading an active and balanced lifestyle outside of work. I regularly attend the gym and practise yoga, both of which help me stay energised and focused. Boating has been a huge part of my life, something I have enjoyed with my family since I was a child, and it remains one of my favourite ways to relax and spend quality time together. I also love travelling and exploring new places whenever I get the opportunity. I bring the same enthusiasm, positivity, and commitment I value in my personal life into my professional role each day.
