White House Care Home

I find the staff very efficient and sympathetic to any problems I may have. Not many of those, but the occasional niggle by me. My husband's physical needs are well looked after both by nurses and carers,

My Mother was discharged from hospital and went into The White House Nursing Home, Letchworth for end of life care.

The staff were absolutely wonderful from the very start, it felt like they had literally wrapped their arms around us both and guided us through some very difficult months in our lives.

Gradually they fed Mum small amounts of food and sat talking to her even though she wasn't responsive at first. After just over a week they had Mum sitting in the living area and dining with the other residents. I was truly amazed, I didn't think it was possible for that to happen.

The staff were so cheerful, it was a pleasure to see them with Mum, nothing was too much trouble. This was extended to me and family members too.

Quite often I witnessed staff members doing something for a resident even though it wasn't part of their duties.

We had Mum for an extra ten months because of the outstanding care she received. It's like one big happy family there and I am so very grateful.

My husband went into White House with Lewy body dementia. He lasted 1 night before I took him back home. I arrived just before breakfast the next morning it was due to finish at 10 am all other residents were happily having breakfast, my husband was shut in his bedroom after having a toilet accident as nobody came to him. He had tried to clean himself but had poo all over. When I asked why he wasn't in breakfast was told he needed cleaning up and they were short staffed. He also was not given his night time or morning medication. They also messed up his prescription by requesting his meds 2 weeks after he had left which stopped me being able to get his medication. Still waiting for the 3 weeks trial period monies to be refunded 4 weeks later.

Nothing was ever too much trouble for the manager and his wonderful team. We are incredibly grateful for everything they did for Gordon and cannot recommend The White House highly enough

Mum moved into the White House in February 2024 and stayed until her death in June 2026. She had various illnesses including dementia which meant she was not always an easy resident. Her care was excellent, all the staff from the housekeepers to the managers and everyone in between were kind, compassionate, patient and understanding. The facilities were clean, and food was amazing. Mum and her family was treated with compassion and kindness when she passed. We would recommend the White House to anyone thinking of going into a care home.

Dad received excellent care at the White House. The nursing staff and carers were professional kind and very supportive. Dad particularly like participating in all the activities organised. The staff were always welcoming during our frequent visits of which I would certainly recommend the WH to others whose care needs cannot be met residing in their own home.

In my father's final week of life, all the staff were so kind , caring and respectful to him and to me. I am sad that our connection with the home is now ending but I would recommend it to anyone. Dad has had the best end to his life there for the past 2.5 years and I thank each and everyone of you, especially all the upstairs carers.

Excellent care for my mum delivered by all of the staff. Excellent support for the family during mums EOL care. All the family felt welcomed and supported in the 6 weeks mum was with you. Kind regards

A very good first impression as a visitor

Having looked at several homes, I especially like the fact that here there are several areas for residents and visitors to sit in, and that all the residents' rooms are en-suite, a decent size, and very comfortable. I visit several times each week, and have found all the staff extremely kind and friendly. The management has an open door policy and any change to care can be discussed and is acted on. A lovely place to be.

A perfect place for my husband to spend however long he has left.

Absolutely stunning place with five star care, everyone is polite helpful and goes over and above their jobs. Mum was very well looked after as was I when it was end of life for my mum. Thank you for the care and support you provided

Always greeted by someone and will help to sign in if needed. All the staff are all friendly to visitors. They know where the person is who you want to visit.There are all sorts of different things planned to keep the residents interested. The staff are always around and care so well. I saw one man being helped quietly, and often, when I was visiting my friend for an hour. Everything people need has been thought about and done. Always welcome and a lovely atmosphere. As a visitor I don't know what the cost, but I am sure the value is excellent.

Since visiting the home for the past 18 months. I have been very impressed by the running of the home. Staff are extremely caring and polite. The care my sister-in-law has received has been excellent and very caring. The rooms are bright and a good size. I would certainly recommend the home to anyone who might be looking.

I'm cannot recommend this lovely home enough. The staff are wonderful very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. It's a pleasure to come there and visit my relative,always met with smiling faces..Thank you for your kind caring ways. So much appreciated. X

A very well-run home. My mother was very ill when she went in but recovered (not expected) and was able to go home. Amazing staff, clean and secure. A big thank you to all staff!

Father was here for three weeks respite due to a fall. He received all the care and help enabling him to return home after. The care he was given was superb and can't thank them enough! All the staff are lovely and dedicated to giving each person the respect and help they need, including family members.

Exceptional care and consideration. My father-in-law is always shown the highest levels of care by thoughtful staff who go the 'extra mile' and more.

We took advantage of the respite package for Mum here to facilitate an adhoc holiday. We were very nervous about leaving her, but the home manager reassured us and the carers were affectionate, fun and efficient. Also one staff member in particular whose chat calmed Mum right down. The bedrooms with bathrooms and all the public rooms are of top-class hotel standard. The food is something else, (amazing chef) top restaurant quality with a good choice and you can ask to have lunch with your loved one in a white tablecloth restaurant setting, a real treat. The whole atmosphere is to provide what the resident wishes with attractive sitting areas and activities. The qualified nurse is caring and attentive and calmed Mum right down with her lovely smile. She is an asset. Recommend for anyone considering respite.
