Anchor's Wharfeside is a state-of-the art purpose-built care home, located in historical Otley. Wharfeside provides residential and residential dementia care for up to 66 older people in a luxurious environment, finished to the highest standard and incorporating the latest supportive technology.

New residents are welcome, for both permanent care and shorter stays/ respite care.

Wharfeside's impressive facilities include all bedrooms with en suite wet room facilities, a bar area, Cinema Room, a hair and beauty salon and a tea room. It benefits from secure balconies to the front and rear and it is surrounded by private landscaped gardens with outdoor seating areas. Wharfeside enjoys lovely views over the local area and the River Wharfe. The home is located at the centre of Otley, within a short distance of shops, supermarkets and places to eat and drink.

Wharfeside provides care, which is personally tailored to meet the individual needs of residents and enhance their quality of life. The home works with its residents and their loved ones to create detailed care plans. This ensures each individual’s health and care needs are continually met. Wharfeside's food is cooked freshly on site by the catering team to meet each individual's tastes, preferences and nutritional requirements.

Following a bad fall and a substantial time in hospital my father moved into Wharfeside circa 16 months ago. Firstly the move/transition from hospital was made as simple as possible and my father was made very welcome from day one. This is a purpose-built care home that is second to none in layout and
facilities, being able to personalise his ensuite room made the transition a lot easier for my father. Whilst the food is excellent, and cleanliness is always at a high standard the biggest difference we have found in this care home is the staff. From whatever level the staff always find time to engage and encourage residents with a smile on their face.

My father came to Wharfeside for three weeks initially, just to try it, but decided to stay permanently. He said the food is excellent, staff are kind and friendly, and the rooms are well designed and finished to a high standard. I echo his thoughts. Staff have been great at diffusing situations when
my dad has been confused, and he has settled in well and is more relaxed and less anxious. He is looking forward to spending time pottering in the garden come the spring, where there are areas to plant.

From the moment we first contacted Wharfeside to enquire about a respite stay for Mother-in-law whilst we went on holiday, the staff team were, without exception, all especially helpful, friendly and accommodating. A visit to her own home before she went into Wharfeside was conducted in such a kind
and caring way, setting her anxieties to rest, and this was followed through by the same member of staff coming outside to meet her in the car as we arrived for the stay.
With a reputation for being hard to please, my mother-in-law said after her fortnight stay that the staff, accommodation, food and activities were wonderful and she 'could not fault' anything. Splendid praise indeed!
My husband, family and I were always made to feel welcome when we called or visited too.
I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place with equally lovely staff.

This was my first stay for respite at Wharfside, having previously stayed at another care setting. The care I received from the excellent staff was so good and kind, even when there was an issue with the call button not working they went the extra mile to ensure I was comfortable. The welcome I received
and the facilities were like being in a 5-star hotel.

Whilst away on holiday I had a fall and fractured my pelvis. On my return to the UK, I needed short-term respite care to help with my recovery. I spent 3 weeks at Wharfeside. It was like going away to a posh hotel. All the staff were great and gave me the care and support I needed.

Mum spent a happy 5 years with Anchor Homes.
She always mentioned how happy and settled she was, she loved the staff and they enjoyed her stories and sense of humour.
She enjoyed the singing entertainment, art activities and games.
Her room was always clean and tidy and she said her bed was comfortable
and it was good she could personalise the room with her own things around her.

My 96-year-old father came into Wharfeside in February 2023 having previously lived alone since the death of my mother/his wife in 2009. Moving into the home can not have been easy for him but he was made to feel welcome from the outset and his requests were always dealt with. He found the staff to
be friendly, accommodating and very helpful. The home is new and well designed with ensuite rooms, wide corridors and pleasant communal areas.

Wharfeside is a delight. There are still problems getting in and out when the reception is not manned but once in, the home is well designed, bright and clean with excellent facilities in a great location with lovely views. The staff are as warm and caring as ever. They remain cheerful in spite of the
constant challenges, keep me well-informed and are responsive to any requests I have. The management team are trying to make life as interesting as possible for the residents by including and collaborating with families and friends. This is a welcome development.

The staff are friendly and kind. Nothing seems too much trouble and I am kept up to date with any health concerns. The home is clean and tidy and I often see staff talking to residents and engaging with them. Management and reception are an asset, as are all the staff.

One of the first things that strikes you at Wharfeside is it is calm and peaceful. The staff are always patient and treat residents and visitors with respect. Wharfeside is spotlessly clean and residents are treated with dignity and their individual needs are catered for.

Mum has advanced dementia. She lived in a previous home for 10 years prior to its closure and the move to Wharfeside. She is settling well into a well-appointed room with views over the river, supported by staff who know her and continue to care for her with the high level of dignity and respect our
family has always appreciated and been comforted by. The facilities and accommodation in Wharfeside are absolutely lovely, and alongside the homely feel and caring staff, we could not wish for better for Mum.

My mother has been a resident for almost three years and I have been very satisfied with the level of care she has had. She is treated in a friendly way by all staff who work extremely hard in often difficult circumstances to keep all residents happy. The transition to the new premises was well-organised
and relatively stress-free for all concerned (perhaps not staff!) and I am hoping that after a period of settling in, a new period of even better care and support can begin. Good luck to everyone in your wonderful new home!

Mum moved from the old building to Wharfeside on Tuesday. The move was well-planned and orchestrated. The new facility is excellent in every respect - it looks and feels like a five-star hotel - certainly a homely environment for the residents. Mum has had no trouble adjusting and loves her new, bright,
airy room with a lovely view. The staff are brilliant and caring, and we have peace knowing that our mum is safe and well cared for.
