A very enjoyable stay for my 2 week respite. I needed a peaceful surrounding when I came out of my hospital operation and Shawford Springs certainly delivered that. I've enjoyed joining in the activities and my visitors were made very welcome. The only thing that I think should be addressed is that when the weather is extremely hot a fan should be placed in the room.

A fortune has been spent on the gardens and decor of the rooms - But, my 1st night I woke up to a man tugging my duvet I said go away get off and tugged at the cover.
As it was the 1st night after my heart operation I could not continue holding the duvet over my body. He was on his own NO WOMAN with him, VERY FRIGHTENING - "I must take a photo of you", he said - pulling back the cover to reveal my groin (where the line went into my artery).
When I complained next day I was told I had imagined it as I was still under effects from the anesthetic I told her I did NOT have an anesthetic at that she walked away.
I am pleased to say that the day after that the medical orders
Sorry, but had to take a photo of my groin (which had a plaster on) as he should have done it when I was admitted not at 3.30 in the Night.
The hospital wrote to the Care Home instructing them to change the dressing on my groin. After no on cleaning the "opening" - I raised the subject with the medical girl who sad she knew nothing about it. So I went & got my letter from the hospital, which clearly stated I was right.
This is call a "care home" but there is very little care - I was treat by some like a dementia patient - (although I was on the ground floor).
I went up to the Activities Room to "paint daffodils for St David's Day. After a while after 11 o'clock start' - animal or flowers print - I was given a box of colloured pencils, told, "colour ten in" - no hello or welcome - I replied that I am an artist - she walked out without a word!
Food boring and no nutritious value at all - I thought for £3800 the food would be good for you
The wine was cheap & sweet
The reception desk is seldom managed
After all those glaring faults the highlight of my stay was a trip in the Mini Bus Jo was kind & courteous & very informative How I wish there were more like her. I do appreciate the do a 13 hour shift and it must be so low & uninspired with that length of work.

I used Shawford Springs for respite for two weeks after spinal surgery. They enabled me to concentrate on getting better and healing without having to worry about domestic duties. It was very worthwhile and money well invested in my healthy recovery

I came to Shawford Springs care home end of March 2024 after suffering a stroke down my left side of my body. After 3 weeks of restbite care I decided to stay.
The care from all the staff has been wonderful, and with their help I have managed to walk again.

The night care is also nice to have and the meals are very good. I would recomend Shawford Springs to anyone.

Shawford Springs was the perfect place for Mum to stay for respite care. As she is visually impaired she was kindly allocated a lovely room on the ground floor, making it easier for her to access meals, social activities, the garden etc. The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Both the staff and residents were welcoming and friendly, and Mum felt confident to ask staff members for help when she needed. She loved joining in social activities where she could, and group outings on the bus were a highlight. There was always tea and cake available in the ground floor cafe area, and visitors were welcome. We could relax on our holiday knowing Mum was safe and happy. We would definitely recommend Shawford Springs for respite care.

Mum arrived as a new resident at Shawford Springs after Easter. Everyone has gone out of their way to help her settle in. Carers, housekeeping, catering staff, admin, maintenance staff and the management team have all gone out of their way to make her transition positive and friendly. I am a regular visitor, and whatever 'daft' questions or suggestions I have are always met with a smile, positivity, and good advice. The environment is lovely. So much space and light and so many activities and special events. Shawford Springs may not be Mum's old home, but it works very well as her new home. Thank you.

Staff have been excellent with all the residents. They do so much for the residents to make them feel comfortable and valued.

The building is new, and the amenities within the care home are great. The residents all seem to love the food, and all complain they eat far too much... Always a sign of good quality.

The staff at Shawford Springs have been so caring and kind to my father during his 3 week respite stay after a hip replacement.
They are not only kind and caring to Dad they also welcome us as family and friends every time we visit.
Their communication over Dads care has been top class and access to their local doctor been appreciated and very efficient.
The food is delicious and served in a light and airy dining room where relatives can join for lunch or dinner.
The building is very clean and well maintained.
The gardens are beautiful and such a relaxing place to sit and relax together.

I cannot recommend this care home enough

I'd like to thank the Shawford Springs team, on behalf of my parents, for the effort made in celebrating their 100th birthdays. The staff went above and beyond expectations especially considering it was during a shutdown of the home due to the norovirus outbreak affecting so many homes and hospitals Please convey our appreciation to all your staff.
