Hi. My name is Emma Rich-Spice, and I am the General Manager at Sycamore Grove.
I trained in mental health and care management and forensics as a degree, and have been managing adult nursing and complex care home services for over 20 years. I bring a deep and caring knowledge of how to ensure the care given to you and your loved ones is at a standard you would expect and more so. My door is always open for a coffee and a chat for all. Care is a huge passion of mine, one which has led me to the House of Lords to positively champion adult social care and those who live and work within it.
For me, kind, caring, personalised and holistic care should be at the heart of everything my team and I will provide for you, and we will take the time to get you know you and deliver the best service we can to your wishes to live as independently as possible.
To be able to make a difference and share a part of your journey with you is something we find humbling and rewarding, and we cannot wait to meet you when you come to visit us or come into our care.
I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years, including managing a domiciliary home care business in the past. I love all aspects of care, especially caring for the elderly I started working for Barchester in 2021 and I love working for Barchester as it is an incredibly caring and empathetic business.
Due to my passion for care, I will use my skills, knowledge and experience and I will manage and lead my team in delivering outstanding care to our residents.
Daily I take home with me all the smiles, the hugs, the touches of the hands, the happiness in their eyes, the genuine joy of residents and knowledge I did everything I could to make their lives better. It is the greatest reward.
I do practice an Open door policy for our residents, relatives and staff as they are at the heart of what I do.
I have worked 18 years in retail inclusive of personnel and cash management. I have been employed in the care industry for 6 years and enjoy the team I work with. I enjoy being able to spend time with the residents and families when possible and getting to know the staff team too. My door is always open and I am here to do my best to support everyone, so please come and see me, and help me put names to faces!
I am excited to be at Sycamore Grove, and if I haven’t met you already, I look forward to welcoming you to our lovely home soon.

My career in hospitality and catering started in 1990. I trained in Jülich, Germany and started my career In Zurich and worked in many 4* and 5* Hotels in my career including Claridge’s (London), and Hotel Alpina (Klosters, Switzerland) to name a few, I then went on to work as a head chef in Switzerland. I am now very settled and happy in the UK, spending the last 12 years working for the 5* Landmark hotel in Marylebone, fulfilling many roles starting as Sous Chef and working my way up to an Executive Sous chef role.
I started working as a chef in the care sector in 2023. I chose to join Barchester as their standards and expectations are so high. I believe a good chef is an artist and should be able to create delicious menus from the local, seasonal produce on offer.
We have a strong passionate team here at Sycamore Grove and we are looking forward to welcoming our residents to their new homes.
I joined Sycamore Grove as Maintenance Manager in January 2023. Maintenance is paramount when it comes to our residents, relatives and colleagues, and my role is to keep the home environment up to the highest standards possible, ultimately creating a safe and warm place for our residents to live and my colleagues to work.
I also manage and deal with contractors, keeping records up-to-date for our audits. As part of my role, I am also responsible for maintaining the home's extensive grounds. Prior to joining the team at Sycamore Grove, I worked as a facilities manager for Tesco.
I look forward to meeting you all and helping with any maintenance needs in the home.
I first worked in the care sector in 2016. I have since gained a wealth of experience in dedicated dementia and residential activities, where I was an Activities Coordinator.
The largest and best part of my role was to ensure my residents were engaged in meaningful activities on a daily basis. I do this by taking into account their life history, their interests, likes and dislikes in order to promote their well-being currently and for the future. Liaising with family, friends and members of the community is also part of my role and it offers continuity to the lives of our residents. I love giving people a purpose and enabling our residents to do as much as possible of the things they love to do.
I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new homes and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.
