The Oaks is a purpose-built care home (2023) offering Nursing, Nursing Dementia, Enablement and Residential Care and Support.

Wi-Fi will be available throughout the property. State of the art, innovative technology will be used throughout the home enabling the people they support to live a life of meaning and purpose, whatever that means to them.

They choose their teams by assessing emotional intelligence first and attitude second. They train their people exceptionally well and their teams love their training and induction to the organisation.

They want to speak with you in person - this decision is one of the hardest ones you will ever make, so they don't expect an email or call will help you make a decision that is right for you, or the person you love.

They are happy for you to drop by at any time to meet the team (there are no specific visiting times) - if you would like them to spend time exploring your circumstances and planning next steps - do make contact with them as they will schedule time in their diaries to ensure you have the time and space needed for this important conversation.

The location is to the south of Birmingham and has easy access to the M5, M42, and M6. Longbridge Train Station is a short drive away. There is a shopping complex close by as well as entertainment facilities; lovely walks can be found at the picturesque Lickey Hills and Waseley Hills country park.

The Oaks staff are all very caring and understanding of my mother's condition. My mother has Alzheimer's and is deteriorating very quickly.
The team treat her kindly and with patience and respect.
As a family we are all very grateful for such high level of care and we would highly recommend The Oaks
to other families.

The team at The Oaks have supported my father-in-law and the family with a challenging and emotional move from another care home with great care. My father-in-law has advanced dementia and some challenging behaviour which the team and The Oaks are managing with ease and confidence. The environment is
relaxed and homely and my father-in-law has settled quickly despite the potential trauma from the move. We're reassured he's in good hands.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksThank you so much for taking the time to reflect and share your positive experience with The Oaks and team so far. We have loved having your father-in-law here with us, he has been a great addition to our people living in the home. We are pleased that his onboarding has been successful and we have been able to help the whole family through this process. Thank you again for your lovely review!

The Oaks was a home from home for my husband. He came very week for respite care and was so well looked after, knowing he was in such safe hands gave me a much-needed break from caring for him.
He came for a 2 week respite so I could go on holiday and once again I could go knowing he was in safe hands.
The staff are caring and kind. I would like to thank them for looking after him so well.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksThank you for a beautiful review, we have always looked forward to and enjoyed your husband's time with us, he has always been such a character and a pleasure to care for. We very much appreciate your positive feedback and wish yourself and your family the best.

After looking at 4 different homes for respite.
I can't thank The Oaks enough for being everything and more.
My mum had a brilliant time and they treated her as if she was their own mum.
Best care home ever. She now attends weekly for a day visit and loves every minute.
Thank you.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksThank you for your incredible review, we were thrilled when you confirmed Mum would be staying with us and the team was ever so sad to see her stay finish. Thank you for your trust in us and we look forward to seeing mum again this week!

From the initial enquiry to viewing the home and then the transfer from the hospital to the home, everything was extremely quick and professional. Dad has only been a resident for a couple of days, however we feel confident that in time he will settle and be very happy. The staff are a credit to the
home, very welcoming and helpful.
Reply from Amie Archer, Customer Focus Lead at The OaksThank you for your positive feedback, it is always appreciated and the trust you have placed in The Oaks to move Dad in - Dad has been an incredible addition to the home and we look forward to building up our relationship with both him and yourself!

Beautiful home, very clean and well furnished. All staff are very friendly and caring. Staff are always present and willing to help or care with the residents. My mother is really enjoying her stay and feels well looked after. The food is excellent and daily activities keep my mum well occupied. She
has also made lots of friends with other residents and enjoys visits from family and friends in the coffee lounge which has a relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend The Oaks!

Visited today 01/04/2024 was very disappointed with meal time. The starter was soup which was cold and main course was baked potato with either beans, cheese or sweetcorn but the presentation not very appealing. No salad to accompany the meal, very plain. Residents had no stimulation or activities going
on today so no encouragement to come out of rooms.

Dad.

The Oaks is the best care home I have ever visited. My dad had a beautiful welcome with a new home card and a big box of chocolates left in his room. All the staff from the home manager to the cleaning team were so welcoming and reassuring. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they always seemed
really genuine in their care and love for the residents. I cannot recommend The Oaks enough, they are second to none.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.578)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.578) out of 10 for The Oaks is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.578 for The Oaks is calculated as follows: ( (370 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (30 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 462 Ratings = 4.578
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Oaks is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I'm Lianne, and I am thrilled to be part of the EQ Care Team supporting the Oaks in Rubery. I started in the care industry 25 years ago as a care assistant. Although I liked my role, I felt that I needed to progress. I gained my NVQs and worked hard to become a senior care assistant, progressing to Deputy Manager within 3 years. Now as a home manager, I love to provide the people I support with person-centred quality care and take time to understand the needs and preferences of everyone we bring into our home.

The Oaks is a brand new, innovative home offering state-of-the-art facilities, bringing person-centred dementia care to those who need us in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
