The Oaks is a purpose-built care home (2023) offering Nursing, Nursing Dementia, Enablement and Residential Care and Support.

Wi-Fi will be available throughout the property. State of the art, innovative technology will be used throughout the home enabling the people they support to live a life of meaning and purpose, whatever that means to them.

They choose their teams by assessing emotional intelligence first and attitude second. They train their people exceptionally well and their teams love their training and induction to the organisation.

They want to speak with you in person - this decision is one of the hardest ones you will ever make, so they don't expect an email or call will help you make a decision that is right for you, or the person you love.

They are happy for you to drop by at any time to meet the team (there are no specific visiting times) - if you would like them to spend time exploring your circumstances and planning next steps - do make contact with them as they will schedule time in their diaries to ensure you have the time and space needed for this important conversation.

The location is to the south of Birmingham and has easy access to the M5, M42, and M6. Longbridge Train Station is a short drive away. There is a shopping complex close by as well as entertainment facilities; lovely walks can be found at the picturesque Lickey Hills and Waseley Hills country park.

What a relief to find such a great care home! After being in two homes prior to the Oaks I was getting a little concerned about the levels of care offered.

Since my uncle entered the Oaks Care Home I can say the standard of care he's received is nothing short of excellent. I've arrived several

times unannounced and not once had to challenge any of the staff about his appearance or his general wellbeing.

Everything has been made easy in all my dealings with the staff and management regarding his care from taking medication, his eating and socalising........no complaints at all.

Reply from Zoe Doherty, Customer Focus Leader at The OaksThank you for this lovely review, we are so pleased with how your your uncle has settled in at The Oaks.

My mother was one of the first residents to move into The Oaks. The transition from her own home was managed in a way that I could not have hoped to be better. She has received outstanding care in every way, which has been very reassuring for our family to know Mum is happy and safe and has all the
support she needs. The facilities are fantastic. I can recommend The Oaks wholeheartedly.

What can I say. The Oaks absolutely outstanding from the care manager to all of her staff. Everything you ask not too much trouble. The home is absolutely beautiful and a bonus my mom has a garden room where she can sit outside. They understand my mom’s needs and give her 110%. I would highly recommend
this home. Thank you The Oaks.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.578)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.578) out of 10 for The Oaks is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.578 for The Oaks is calculated as follows: ( (370 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (30 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 462 Ratings = 4.578
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Oaks is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I'm Lianne, and I am thrilled to be part of the EQ Care Team supporting the Oaks in Rubery. I started in the care industry 25 years ago as a care assistant. Although I liked my role, I felt that I needed to progress. I gained my NVQs and worked hard to become a senior care assistant, progressing to Deputy Manager within 3 years. Now as a home manager, I love to provide the people I support with person-centred quality care and take time to understand the needs and preferences of everyone we bring into our home.

The Oaks is a brand new, innovative home offering state-of-the-art facilities, bringing person-centred dementia care to those who need us in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
