This is the second time I have used Grappenhall Manor for respite care for my father-in-law. On both occasions, I have been very impressed not only with the dedication and professionalism of the staff but also the facilities on both his floor (2) and in the reception areas. His room was large, comfortable
and well-furnished. Bathroom-disabled facilities are excellent.
Always a warm welcome on every visit. Always staff on the floor to help and advise. Always able to call and get an immediate answer from the staff on the floor. Always a very prompt response from the home manager, whether by phone call or email. Always a comprehensive entertainment program.
Consequently, I have every confidence in the very high standards of care and there is no doubt I will be using these wonderful facilities again.

My mum has been a resident of Grappenhall Manor for three months. She was taken ill on New Year's Day was taken to hospital by ambulance. 15 hours later we were told she could go home but there was no transport. available. We therefore agreed to take her home in our car. As mum has no mobility, it
took 3 people to accomplish this. My mum was sick in the car. By the time we got to Grappenhall it was almost midnight and my mum, myself and my husband were all cold, tired and despondent. When we arrived, 2 carers came out to the car and took charge. They got my mum into a wheelchair and into the warmth so quickly and efficiently. We waited and within half an hour we went into my mum's room. She had been washed and was in bed in clean pyjamas and had even had her hair brushed. I could have cried with relief and gratitude. No words can express my gratitude to those carers who helped my mum that night and all the carers who so assiduously look after her day and night. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Grappenhall Manor for a year now. Though she has a very active mind, she was finding it difficult living on her own so moved from her home in Oxfordshire to take up residence near me, here in Warrington.
As you might imagine, in the beginning, it was an emotional challenge
for her but from day one the staff made every effort to help her settle in. Indeed, I was truly heartened the other week when my mother told me that when she is in her room, she doesn't feel she's in a care home at all but rather in her own, comfortable 'home'. I think that's a testament to the team at Grappenhall Manor and the effort they put into providing sensitive, effective and engaging care. What's more, my mother still finds reason to laugh and that's a delight that can't be taken for granted.
To everyone at Grappenhall Manor, keep up the excellent work and thank you for taking such good care of my mother.

To all the team at Grapenhall Manor, I hope you all get to read this review. My father spent his final 4 days of his life in your care, after spending over 7 weeks in Warrington hospital. I honestly do not know where to begin, everyone is just the nicest person you could hope to meet, they remember
you, they give you a warm hug, they offer you tea and cakes, they treat you, your loved ones and family with the highest of respect and honour. I honestly cannot rate this care home any higher or I would. The manager and her team have got this down to a T! I am so truly grateful that my dad got to be here for his closing chapter and that has brought a lot of peace to me and his wife.
Forever thankful to you all, please never change.

My mother, who has dementia, recently had a 4-week respite at Grapenhall Manor Care home. Throughout her stay, the staff were exceptionally attentive and supportive. They quickly spotted and dealt with a health issue that required antibiotics. The facilities are excellent and spotless at all times.
There are a variety of daily activities and the food fresh and varied. I would be very happy for Mum to return here on a more permanent basis in the future.

Mum had a short rehab stay at the care centre, but she was well cared for and enjoyed the new, modern facility. As family visitors we were always made to feel welcome and our questions and concerns regarding Mum's health were responded to promptly.
Mum's only less positive comment was that when she
first arrived and was unable to get out of bed or the chair by herself, her call bell was not always responded to in a timely manner.
Overall, thank you for taking care of Mum.

Mum aged 94 moved into Grappenhall in August 2023 from living in her own home supported by carers. She was mobile and the open setting meant that she could easily navigate between her room to the lounge and dining room and outside.
She became frailer and died at the home in March and we couldn’t have
asked for a higher standard of professional or personal care for her, or for us as a family.
While she was mobile she enjoyed trips out and a wide range of activities in Grappenhall.
Mum had a good appetite and enjoyed the meals and the varied choices on the menu. As she became weaker, meals were adapted and the staff were really supportive in ensuring she continued to eat as well as she could.
We were kept well informed of any changes, medical or personal, and involved in decision-making - very relevant for those with PoA.
All visitors said how welcome they were made.
The care and good humour from every staff member helped to make it a special place for us and Mum.

Brilliant! The staff, food (lots of it), and accommodation are just absolutely spot on. Every member of staff I've met has been warm, engaging, approachable, and can't do enough for you. I'm fairly independent so don't take much looking after, however, to see how the staff engages and cares for some
of the other residents is heartwarming and has played a big part in my recovery a progress so far. The only problem I've got is that I'll have to leave soon, which I think sums it up. Thank you all.

Never saw manager after first ten minutes.
Room floor often dusty with rubbish also about, especially under bed, plus dirty floor and toilet.
Some staff (carers and nurses) were lovely and helpful, unfortunately not all. My mother did start to settle and engage in activities and was building relationships
with some staff which was lovely to see.
Unfortunately, a very mixed bag of an experience.

Cannot put into words how amazing this home is! My mum has been here for a few weeks after a really bad fall. The care and dedication given to all residents is first-class. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities, the food, the dignity and the cleanliness is exemplary. The staff are approachable
and Mum said they are amazing with everyone. Cannot thank everyone enough, especially the fact it's been Christmas and New Year. Highly recommend Grappenhall Manor 100%.

Both of my parents were some of the first residents at Grappenhall Manor. The level of care they received was excellent. Every conceivable measure was taken by the staff to allow them to settle in. Unfortunately, my dad passed away after a few months. The staff were so loving and caring to my mum in
the aftermath. She now regards the staff as friends rather than carers. I feel assured that she is in a safe and secure environment where she is happy.

From when we first visited Grappenhall Manor, we couldn't believe what a lovely place it is - it feels like a boutique hotel, decorated with style and attention to detail, which helps minimise the feeling of a nursing home. Ever since Mum moved in there, she has received the loveliest and most caring
attention from all the staff. At all levels, the carers show genuine concern and even affection for Mum. We couldn't ask for more for our 96-year-old mum. There are even daily events to keep the residents entertained and socialising. This is a difficult time for us all, wanting the best for Mum, and seeing her care needs ever increasing. But I can honestly say I don't think we could have done better for her than arranging for her to move to Grappenhall Manor.

The staff at Grappenhall Manor are extremely caring and nothing is too much trouble. Staff are proactive in caring for my mother-in-law and all our requests are followed up quickly. There is a great activity program run by very caring staff.
The building is brand new and it feels a bit like a hotel.
The gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of quality outdoor furnishings. Attention to detail in the garden shows with bird boxes and hedgehog tunnels.
The building is very accessible, no trip hazards with everything being level. Bathrooms are quite spacious.
Overall, Grappenhall Manor feels like a very safe space for my mother-in-law and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to others. The staff really care, and I always feel welcome here.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.924)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.924) out of 10 for Grappenhall Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for Grappenhall Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (366 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 396 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grappenhall Manor Care Home is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked as a well-being coordinator for a number of years and loved every second. At University I studied dance and for one of my modules, I looked at how dance can benefit people living with dementia. That was when I knew what career path I wanted to follow. Outside of work, I am a member of a dance crew where we have gone to competitions around Europe and are currently working on getting a place in Worlds in America. I also enjoy running and recently completed the Great North Run, which I'm super proud of. Grappenhall Manor is a lovely place to work and I can't wait to spend many more years here.
