My stay in Fairfax Manor was excellent for two weeks of respite care. My room was superb, and the facilities in the home were brilliant. I cannot find enough words to say how kind and caring the staff were. All were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend it. My slight niggle
was the food. Having said that, the staff went out of their way to give me what I asked for. The soups were excellent.

All of the nursing care staff are kind and efficient. The cleaning staff are hard working and good humoured. Catering is a good standard. Reception and administration staff are very pleasant and efficient.
The manager is evasive, illusive and difficult to contact and avoids personal contact with residents
and relatives. In a whole year I have not met him once and I have only glimpsed him four times. He does not return phone calls when arranged. He is indeed remote.

Reply from Katie Westwick, Marketing Manager at Charlotte House Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased your comments about your experiences with our nursing, cleaning, catering, and reception teams, who work hard to deliver high standards of care. However, we were surprised and saddened by your comments about the Home Manager. While we take all concerns seriously, we must respectfully clarify that your remarks do not reflect his role accurately. He is present daily, actively engaged with residents and families, and has made numerous efforts to speak with you, even outside standard hours. Given the seriousness and inaccuracy of your claims, we have escalated this to carehome.co.uk as we believe the comments are not a fair reflection of the facts. We do understand how emotional and stressful care decisions can be and remain committed to listening and supporting families. Please don't hesitate to contact our team directly if you'd like to discuss anything further.

Mum first went to Fairfax for respite in April 2024, and then again July 2024 when it was decided that she required full time care. We looked at other care homes but none compared. I could not bear to contemplate anywhere else. The home itself with all its high spec rooms with safety features and the
wonderful caring staff I cannot fault in any way at all. The staff equally care for my Dad on his daily visits. The care is second to none and the whole place is spotless. I feel that Mum is very safe and cared for I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfax to anyone. In fact I have.

Regency Care Home

from J D (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was with Regency for two months following a period in hospital. His complex medicinal care was professionally delivered by a caring team of nurses and clinical practitioners, to high standards and with constant communication throughout. Regency's team of carers, catering staff, electrician,
domestic and administration teams, all worked seamlessly to get to know us as a family and resolve any aspects which could make my father's daily situation more comfortable and less anxious. My father knew each staff member by name, as we did, and we could visit without constraint, which brought peace of mind. Regency is well managed to high professional standards. Most important of all, was the ability as a family to work through any questions or changes, together with the staff and manager, to improve comfort and wellbeing for our loved one, including contact through the night when urgent. We are grateful to all the team at Regency Care Centre, for their caring and commitment.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am writing to review the incredible unwavering care, compassion, and professionalism of the whole team at the Regency Care Centre in Whitefield, Manchester.

Watching a loved one go through such a life-changing event, such as a stroke, is never easy, but knowing that he is in the hands of such

capable, kind, and attentive people, has brought our family immense comfort. From the leadership team, down to each nurse, caregiver, and support staff member-their dedication is unwavering. They treat my dad with dignity, patience, and genuine warmth, and that means the world to us.

It is not just the medical care that we appreciate, though that has been outstanding - it is the small things too: the gentle encouragement, the friendly conversations, the personal touches and smiles that show they truly care about his wellbeing as a person, not just a patient. These gestures make all the difference and we are extremely grateful as a family to the whole team.

Reply from Nichola Birkett, General Manager at Regency Care Home

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of the care your Dad has received. After spending 2 weeks in the hospital, my 82 year old father was transferred to Twyford House for rehabilitation. This was a very difficult period of time for my Dad and the family, as my Mum had just passed away only a few weeks earlier. After not having the best experience in the hospital, the level
of care and understanding my Dad received at Twyford House was exceptional. He was treated with a great deal of respect and dignity, and the staff were so kind and friendly towards him. We honestly can't thank you enough.

from Ann-Marie C (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mum has Alzheimers disease and was living alone many miles away, which was a constant worry. I started to look round care homes for when the inevitable happened, somewhere where my Mum could be closer to me in Harrogate.

I remember the first time I went to look round Fairfax Manor (April 2024),

I immediately felt at home and my gut sat so comfortably. It was the only home out of the 8 I viewed that I could picture my beautiful Mum living in. From the beautiful care home itself and more importantly, to all the staff.

Sadly, my Mum was admitted to hospital in January 2025 and was unable to return to her home. The manager was amazing and did everything she could to support with my Mums move between councils.

My Mum has been at Fairfax Manor for over 2 months now and I just know that she is in such a lovely place and is being cared for. My Mum especially loves the church services and anything involving music!

I can't recommend Fairfax Manor highly enough and am extremely thankful.

My husband was at the Rhallt from end of February to May 14th when he unfortunately died.
He was there on palliative care and I feel the fantastic care he had made his final month's peaceful and happy, also I believe it extended his life.
The staff are the most incredible people so caring and
supportive to both of us during his time there. The dignity and respect he was given was amazing,as someone who has worked in care I appreciate a good care home.
The management are great and the whole atmosphere is calming. The food is unbelievable, a 3 course menu is posted near the door every day and lots of extras available, afternoon snacks, evening snacks with all dietary requirements catered for.
The nurses are very gentle and supportive, the carers also are very professional and caring and all love their jobs.
The housekeepers take great care with laundry etc .
They are very open and welcoming. If looking for the very best of care I would highly recommend this welcoming haven.
