We are very happy with the care being provided to my mother since she entered Fairfax Manor in February 2026. The facilities are top notch and more importantly the staff and organisation at the home is first class. All staff are very welcoming and enthusiastic with every effort taken to include my mother
in activities in spite of her advanced Alzheimers Dementia.
We could not have wished for a better location for mum in her final months.

My Mother has dementia but is a very fit and active 82 year old. I love that Mum does the daily activities, sometimes twice a day. The staff are amazing, very patient and caring, the facilities are really top notch. So much so that Mum thinks she is staying in a hotel. I can't thank the team at Fairfax
Manor enough, it has given me so much peace of mind, knowing that Mum is thriving in this environment.

My grandad Donald lived at Fairfax Manor for the last couple of years of his 99 years and 8 months. The care he received whilst there was amazing. Staff were caring, understanding, always ready to help, and always with a smile. And the buildings and grounds are immaculate. Grandad felt very comfortable
and I, and my family, felt reassured that he was in safe and loving hands. I can't fault Fairfax Manor in any way.

My Godmother moved into Fairfax in March 2025 following a stroke. I'm very happy with the choice of care home we made. I have found all the staff friendly and professional through out her stay. If there are any issues they are sorted out quickly and nothing seems to much for the staff and management.
I
have no problem with recommending Fairfax Manor.

Both my parents are residents at Fairfax and was carefully shortlisted by myself.
The care home has wonderfully friendly staff but mirrors the quality of my parents home and feel content that both my parents get the best care and attention and has been a true game changer for us all.

Fairfax was an obvious choice for Dad when he needed care. The whole team are absolutely brilliant, they're happy, approachable and friendly and they treat Dad with respect and kindness.

The Orangery is a lovely bright area which provides a great space for visiting guests and families who are always

made to feel so welcome by the staff.

The surrounding gardens are wonderful - Dad loves walking round the blossom trees

The lounges and restaurants on all floors are beautiful and the restaurants provide a great choice and quality of food

Bedrooms are clean, modern and 'homely'

Daily activities (the activities team are fantastic!) - there's lots to do every week, and plenty of opportunities to get involved and meet other residents, which has really helped Dad settle in.

A Truly Exceptional Standard of Care
After experiencing two other care homes in the local area, finding Fairfax Manor has been nothing short of transformational. The difference has been night and day - in every single respect.
My father moved in just a few weeks ago, and in that short time, the impact
on his wellbeing, comfort and dignity has been profound. From the moment we walked through the door, Fairfax Manor felt different. The surroundings are clean, bright and genuinely welcoming - not clinical or cold, but warm and homely in a way that immediately puts both residents and families at ease.
What sets Fairfax apart most, however, is the people. The staff don't just care for residents - they genuinely care about them. The empathy is real, unhurried and consistent. You can feel it in the small moments. At the heart of all of this is the manager, Sharon. She is, quite simply, phenomenal. A true titan in terms of knowledge, service and compassionate leadership.

As a family we would highly recommend Fairfax Manor Care Home. My Mother went to the Home as end of life and passed away 2weeks later. The care and attention to her needs was outstanding. Altho she couldn't really tolerate food the lovely Chef, Gino, did his level best to tempt her. Sorry Gino that
she couldn't enjoy it to its fullest and neither could we as her time was short. Peace comes in for a special mention with her kind calm manner , truly peaceful. Thank you Peace. Every member of Staff went over and above to make her last days as comfortable as they could. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you

Dad was one of the first few residents at Fairfax when it opened and although there was one or two teething issues at the beginning, due to it being a new establishment, these were ironed out quickly. Dad always referred to Fairfax as a hotel and that is because, unlike some other care homes it was
beautifully kept, both inside and out. However, for us as a family, the most important criteria was care and we were not disappointed. All the staff were so lovely and caring. Dad was a Type 1 Diabetic and hence had to have the District Nurses out twice a day to administer insulin. This was not always ideal, but the staff at Fairfax were always so patient with his sometimes erratic sugar levels. They always had a smile and a joke for him.. Unfortunately, in the end Dad had to be moved to a nursing home and is now no longer with us. I know that he had not wanted to leave his home, but Fairfax was certainly a very good substitute.

My stay in Fairfax Manor was excellent for two weeks of respite care. My room was superb, and the facilities in the home were brilliant. I cannot find enough words to say how kind and caring the staff were. All were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend it. My slight niggle
was the food. Having said that, the staff went out of their way to give me what I asked for. The soups were excellent.

Mum first went to Fairfax for respite in April 2024, and then again July 2024 when it was decided that she required full time care. We looked at other care homes but none compared. I could not bear to contemplate anywhere else. The home itself with all its high spec rooms with safety features and the
wonderful caring staff I cannot fault in any way at all. The staff equally care for my Dad on his daily visits. The care is second to none and the whole place is spotless. I feel that Mum is very safe and cared for I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfax to anyone. In fact I have.

My Mum has Alzheimers disease and was living alone many miles away, which was a constant worry. I started to look round care homes for when the inevitable happened, somewhere where my Mum could be closer to me in Harrogate.

I remember the first time I went to look round Fairfax Manor (April 2024),

I immediately felt at home and my gut sat so comfortably. It was the only home out of the 8 I viewed that I could picture my beautiful Mum living in. From the beautiful care home itself and more importantly, to all the staff.

Sadly, my Mum was admitted to hospital in January 2025 and was unable to return to her home. The manager was amazing and did everything she could to support with my Mums move between councils.

My Mum has been at Fairfax Manor for over 2 months now and I just know that she is in such a lovely place and is being cared for. My Mum especially loves the church services and anything involving music!

I can't recommend Fairfax Manor highly enough and am extremely thankful.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.870)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.870) out of 10 for Fairfax Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.870 for Fairfax Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (486 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 548 Ratings = 4.87
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairfax Manor Care Home is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am delighted to be at Fairfax Manor as Home Manager. With a background in both the NHS and Social Care sectors since 2009, I bring extensive experience in leading and developing high-quality care services.

Before joining Fairfax Manor, I managed a 100-bed care home in the local area, where I was proud to support the team in achieving a CQC Outstanding rating in the domains of well-led, caring, and responsive.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Social Care and have been honoured with both regional and national recognition, including awards for Front Line Leader and Regional Registered Manager.

I am passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and responsive environment where residents feel valued and supported. I believe that well-trained, happy staff are at the heart of excellent care, and I am committed to ensuring both residents and colleagues flourish here at Fairfax Manor.

Outside of work, I live in Harrogate with my husband of over 30 years, Paul, along with our two grown-up sons and a lively mix of pets. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and feel very fortunate to love the work I do every day.

Job Title: Deputy Home Manger

I have been supporting the elderly for 19 years.

I started my career as a care assistant and quickly realised I wanted to develop my skills and knowledge. It took longer than I thought, but 15 years later, I gained my level 5 leadership and management qualification.

Our home is your home, we are one family who are focused on a person-centred approach, we are all individuals and unique, which is what makes our family diverse.

When I am not with my extended family, I like to be active and regularly attend the gym. I always ask the residents if they would like to attend…I have had no takers yet!

I live at home with my husband Karl, and we have two grown children. Karl and I like to escape on holiday and have taken up camping. Plenty of adventures to share with others.

Job Title: Wellbeing Lead

My Late Grandmother said to me find a Job you love, and you will never work a day in your life again! This is so true in my case; activities and well-being have been my passion for 18 years. I believe activities are so important as they bring so many meaningful experiences to people. I like to think outside of the box, so I am always looking for new ideas to bring to Fairfax Manor.

What you will get from me is a big smile and an even bigger personality!
On a personal note, I live in a very lively house with my husband and 3 teenagers, plus lots of pets that keep me on my toes! My perfect day when I am not at Fairfax Manor is a long walk followed by a Sunday lunch surrounded by my family and a cheeky game of bingo, of course!
