A beautifully furnished home with a high standard of care. Mum loves being in Fairfax and tells everyone it's her home. Mum is always clean, dressed nicely with her jewellery on - not at all like when she struggled at home. I would highly recommend Fairfax Manor.

Fairfax Manor is a wonderful place with caring, friendly and helpful staff, carers and nurses. Fairfax is welcoming to all visitors. The social areas are inviting to have a coffee/tea with family and friends and the living areas are very cosy and comfortable. Dad has been well cared for since he arrived
and specifically with the treatment he needed. Dad couldn't be in a better place.

The team at Fairfax are providing wonderful care. It's a lovely place to visi our friends, who have made huge improvements in health since becoming residents. All the staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. We have had lots of support in getting them settled and are delighted

Both my parents have been in Fairfax a number of times, more recently for a longer period.
The level of care they have received has been outstanding. All the staff members go above and beyond to be welcoming, friendly and the level of care each and everyone of them offer gives you the confidence your
family member is being looked after by the very best.
The facilities are excellent, warm, comfortable and the food and services on offer are great.
I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfax to anyone looking for the very best in a care facility.

As a family we would highly recommend Fairfax Manor Care Home. My Mother went to the Home as end of life and passed away 2weeks later. The care and attention to her needs was outstanding. Altho she couldn't really tolerate food the lovely Chef, Gino, did his level best to tempt her. Sorry Gino that
she couldn't enjoy it to its fullest and neither could we as her time was short. Peace comes in for a special mention with her kind calm manner , truly peaceful. Thank you Peace. Every member of Staff went over and above to make her last days as comfortable as they could. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you

Dad was one of the first few residents at Fairfax when it opened and although there was one or two teething issues at the beginning, due to it being a new establishment, these were ironed out quickly. Dad always referred to Fairfax as a hotel and that is because, unlike some other care homes it was
beautifully kept, both inside and out. However, for us as a family, the most important criteria was care and we were not disappointed. All the staff were so lovely and caring. Dad was a Type 1 Diabetic and hence had to have the District Nurses out twice a day to administer insulin. This was not always ideal, but the staff at Fairfax were always so patient with his sometimes erratic sugar levels. They always had a smile and a joke for him.. Unfortunately, in the end Dad had to be moved to a nursing home and is now no longer with us. I know that he had not wanted to leave his home, but Fairfax was certainly a very good substitute.
Reply from Sharon Oldfield, Home Manager at Fairfax Manor Care HomeThank you for taking time to review Fairfax Manor, it is very much appreciated. I will be delighted to share your feedback with our amazing team. We plan to open a General Nursing community very soon so that our residents who require this care do not have seek a new care provider. With grateful thanks. Sharon Oldfield, Home Manager

My stay in Fairfax Manor was excellent for two weeks of respite care. My room was superb, and the facilities in the home were brilliant. I cannot find enough words to say how kind and caring the staff were. All were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend it. My slight niggle
was the food. Having said that, the staff went out of their way to give me what I asked for. The soups were excellent.

Mum first went to Fairfax for respite in April 2024, and then again July 2024 when it was decided that she required full time care. We looked at other care homes but none compared. I could not bear to contemplate anywhere else. The home itself with all its high spec rooms with safety features and the
wonderful caring staff I cannot fault in any way at all. The staff equally care for my Dad on his daily visits. The care is second to none and the whole place is spotless. I feel that Mum is very safe and cared for I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfax to anyone. In fact I have.

My Mum has Alzheimers disease and was living alone many miles away, which was a constant worry. I started to look round care homes for when the inevitable happened, somewhere where my Mum could be closer to me in Harrogate.

I remember the first time I went to look round Fairfax Manor (April 2024),

I immediately felt at home and my gut sat so comfortably. It was the only home out of the 8 I viewed that I could picture my beautiful Mum living in. From the beautiful care home itself and more importantly, to all the staff.

Sadly, my Mum was admitted to hospital in January 2025 and was unable to return to her home. The manager was amazing and did everything she could to support with my Mums move between councils.

My Mum has been at Fairfax Manor for over 2 months now and I just know that she is in such a lovely place and is being cared for. My Mum especially loves the church services and anything involving music!

I can't recommend Fairfax Manor highly enough and am extremely thankful.

I can highly recommend Fairfax Manor to anyone looking for care for themselves or a relative. The building is very modern with high quality fixtures and fittings, and is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Security is high and the sensors in bedrooms to detect night time movement and alert staff are a
quality touch.

The care is exemplary, the staff being professional and friendly with a high regard for the dignity and feelings of the residents and relatives alike. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that residents are rarely left sitting in their room as there is often entertainment and they are otherwise encouraged to engage with their fellow residents. Meals are high quality and reflect exactly the likes and dislikes of the more elderly person. Fairfax is by no means the cheapest care home in the area. But the facility and the level of care prove that you get what you pay for.

I came in today to check on my friend who was joining in with the other residents who were all being entertained by the Activities Coordinator! He and others from the team of carers had everyone joining in. There was a real feeling of inclusiveness as everyone's capabilities were met and gentle encouragement
got people singing and dancing! Clapping and gigging in their seats or proper up, holding hands, supporting each other whilst waltzing round the room! Smiles and laughter all round, it was a lovely morning. My friend was very happy and content it was great to see. Clever how, despite the vast range of abilities, everyone seemed to feel part of the group.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.862) out of 10 for Fairfax Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.862 for Fairfax Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (409 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 464 Ratings = 4.862
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairfax Manor Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am delighted to be at Fairfax Manor as Home Manager. With a background in both the NHS and Social Care sectors since 2009, I bring extensive experience in leading and developing high-quality care services.

Before joining Fairfax Manor, I managed a 100-bed care home in the local area, where I was proud to support the team in achieving a CQC Outstanding rating in the domains of well-led, caring, and responsive.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Social Care and have been honoured with both regional and national recognition, including awards for Front Line Leader and Regional Registered Manager.

I am passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and responsive environment where residents feel valued and supported. I believe that well-trained, happy staff are at the heart of excellent care, and I am committed to ensuring both residents and colleagues flourish here at Fairfax Manor.

Outside of work, I live in Harrogate with my husband of over 30 years, Paul, along with our two grown-up sons and a lively mix of pets. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and feel very fortunate to love the work I do every day.
