My stay in Fairfax Manor was excellent for two weeks of respite care. My room was superb, and the facilities in the home were brilliant. I cannot find enough words to say how kind and caring the staff were. All were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend it. My slight niggle was the food. Having said that, the staff went out of their way to give me what I asked for. The soups were excellent.

Mum first went to Fairfax for respite in April 2024, and then again July 2024 when it was decided that she required full time care. We looked at other care homes but none compared. I could not bear to contemplate anywhere else. The home itself with all its high spec rooms with safety features and the wonderful caring staff I cannot fault in any way at all. The staff equally care for my Dad on his daily visits. The care is second to none and the whole place is spotless. I feel that Mum is very safe and cared for I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfax to anyone. In fact I have.

My Mum has Alzheimers disease and was living alone many miles away, which was a constant worry. I started to look round care homes for when the inevitable happened, somewhere where my Mum could be closer to me in Harrogate.

I remember the first time I went to look round Fairfax Manor (April 2024), I immediately felt at home and my gut sat so comfortably. It was the only home out of the 8 I viewed that I could picture my beautiful Mum living in. From the beautiful care home itself and more importantly, to all the staff.

Sadly, my Mum was admitted to hospital in January 2025 and was unable to return to her home. The manager was amazing and did everything she could to support with my Mums move between councils.

My Mum has been at Fairfax Manor for over 2 months now and I just know that she is in such a lovely place and is being cared for. My Mum especially loves the church services and anything involving music!

I can't recommend Fairfax Manor highly enough and am extremely thankful.

Mum stayed at Fairfax Manor for seven weeks after surgery. The staff were excellent. They treated her with dignity and compassion, and she was sad to leave. The room and facilities are absolutely beautiful. All staff were friendly and welcoming to family and visitors. We can't thank everyone at Fairfax Manor enough and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Fairfax Manor is a wonderful care home, and I would highly recommend. The staff are all very kind and caring, and they cannot do enough for all the residents. My mother has been a resident for 6 months now and has received excellent care. There are always lots of different amenities for the residents to join in if they want to.

I can highly recommend Fairfax Manor to anyone looking for care for themselves or a relative. The building is very modern with high quality fixtures and fittings, and is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Security is high and the sensors in bedrooms to detect night time movement and alert staff are a quality touch.

The care is exemplary, the staff being professional and friendly with a high regard for the dignity and feelings of the residents and relatives alike. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that residents are rarely left sitting in their room as there is often entertainment and they are otherwise encouraged to engage with their fellow residents. Meals are high quality and reflect exactly the likes and dislikes of the more elderly person. Fairfax is by no means the cheapest care home in the area. But the facility and the level of care prove that you get what you pay for.

I came in today to check on my friend who was joining in with the other residents who were all being entertained by the Activities Coordinator! He and others from the team of carers had everyone joining in. There was a real feeling of inclusiveness as everyone's capabilities were met and gentle encouragement got people singing and dancing! Clapping and gigging in their seats or proper up, holding hands, supporting each other whilst waltzing round the room! Smiles and laughter all round, it was a lovely morning. My friend was very happy and content it was great to see. Clever how, despite the vast range of abilities, everyone seemed to feel part of the group.

As one of the first to move into Fairfax Mum has been a resident for 12 months during which time her dementia and overall health has deteriorated significantly. I have been enormously impressed by the way in which the team have helped us through this difficult phase and with the flexibility and outstanding care they provide. Her room is lovely and the catering is first class and adapted to her needs. The whole team are professional, friendly and genuinely try their best for Mum. I would have no hesitation recommending Fairfax Manor.

My mother has been a resident at Fairfax Manor since April 2024. She has had nothing but amazing care from day one. As I do not live locally, I talk to the home a couple of times a week and always find the team have time to update me on mother's care and any needs she requires. The catering staff everyday adapt the menu for her eating requirements.

I can now also video call thanks to the help of the management team. A big thank you to all concerned.

Review from A G (Relative of Resident) published on 16 December 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

How fortunate we are to have discovered Fairfax Manor in Harrogate! The title of 'care home' does not do it justice. It is far from anything like a care home you would have ever imagined. Our initial meeting with the team was met positively and sympathetically, they really listened at what was a distressing time.

Time was taken to show us around the entire 'hotel' and to view the first-class facilities. All questions we had were met positively and appropriately. The decision was made immediately that our relative would stay for a little respite. Shortly afterwards, we knew that this comfortable, high-end, relaxed, caring environment was the place for our relative to be, and decided to stay permanently!

It's not just about the environment - the care team and management are second to none. Queries from us are met with a 'can do' attitude and are actioned that day. Nothing is too much trouble. The suites are lovely. Our relative is settling, cared for well. Highly recommended.

My dad spent a week at Fairfax Manor for respite following being unwell. We were all a little nervous but need not have worried. From initial enquiry to saying goodbye we felt welcome and in safe hands. All staff were professional cheerful and caring. A very happy environment, excellent facilities, lots of social opportunities and visitors made welcome. A definite choice for any future "holidays"

Sharon Job Title:General ManagerJoined: 2025

I am delighted to be at Fairfax Manor as Home Manager. With a background in both the NHS and Social Care sectors since 2009, I bring extensive experience in leading and developing high-quality care services.

Before joining Fairfax Manor, I managed a 100-bed care home in the local area, where I was proud to support the team in achieving a CQC Outstanding rating in the domains of well-led, caring, and responsive.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Social Care and have been honoured with both regional and national recognition, including awards for Front Line Leader and Regional Registered Manager.

I am passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and responsive environment where residents feel valued and supported. I believe that well-trained, happy staff are at the heart of excellent care, and I am committed to ensuring both residents and colleagues flourish here at Fairfax Manor.

Outside of work, I live in Harrogate with my husband of over 30 years, Paul, along with our two grown-up sons and a lively mix of pets. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and feel very fortunate to love the work I do every day.

I have been supporting the elderly for 19 years.

I started my career as a care assistant and quickly realised I wanted to develop my skills and knowledge. It took longer than I thought, but 15 years later, I gained my level 5 leadership and management qualification.

Our home is your home, we are one family who are focused on a person-centred approach, we are all individuals and unique, which is what makes our family diverse.

When I am not with my extended family, I like to be active and regularly attend the gym. I always ask the residents if they would like to attend…I have had no takers yet!

I live at home with my husband Karl, and we have two grown children. Karl and I like to escape on holiday and have taken up camping. Plenty of adventures to share with others.

Louise
Louise Job Title:Wellbeing Lead

My Late Grandmother said to me find a Job you love, and you will never work a day in your life again! This is so true in my case; activities and well-being have been my passion for 18 years. I believe activities are so important as they bring so many meaningful experiences to people. I like to think outside of the box, so I am always looking for new ideas to bring to Fairfax Manor.

What you will get from me is a big smile and an even bigger personality!

On a personal note, I live in a very lively house with my husband and 3 teenagers, plus lots of pets that keep me on my toes! My perfect day when I am not at Fairfax Manor is a long walk followed by a Sunday lunch surrounded by my family and a cheeky game of bingo, of course!
