Positives
I like that I feel safe and trusted when I come here. The staff are excellent and really care and are clearly managed well. When we have had a review meeting with management, actions were discussed and taken very quickly.
Negatives
Communication needs to improve especially when from the
doctor re medication/tests etc. Please can we improve the food variety for John - ie not porridge every morning and more variety of desserts/puddings.
Reply from Rowena Bolton, Manager at Bramhall Manor Care HomeThank you for your review and I am pleased that you feel your husband is well cared for. I am sorry that you feel that communication regarding GP visits could be improved, I am aware you visit your husband daily and I have told staff that they need to let you know of any visits or tests when you visit. With regards to the food, our chef would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns, this can be arranged during your visit.

Hazel took up residence in December 2024 following an accident at home, suffering a fractured hip. She had earlier been diagnosed with severe COPD and lung metastasis and due to the complications presented it was decided that a hip procedure would have presented undue risk. In the circumstances a return
home was not possible, and her care commenced just prior to Christmas.
I had visited several potential care homes and decided upon Bramhall Manor after a productive meeting with receptionist Sue, and a bed was promptly found. The care provided over many months was most kind and professional, led by Carina, Olivia and Abigail, and many others too numerous to mention were involved in providing a loving environment.

Bramhall Manor Care Centre provided the best care we could have asked for as a family at a very difficult time. The time, compassion and care shown to me and my family was much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and bright, the facilities on each floor were great, and we
would have no hesitation in recommending Bramhall Manor to our friends. All we can say is a huge "thank you".

Both my parents (aged 93 years) moved into Bramhall Manor in May this year on discharge from hospital. I wanted them both to live in the same home which took some organising and Rowena (Manager) helped greatly and even arranged rooms next door to each other! It was a very difficult and emotional
time for us as a family. However, staff went out of their way to offer comfort and support to us all which helped with the transition. My father was in very poor health when he arrived in Bramhall Manor but with the skilled care and support all the staff have provided, his health has improved to the point where he can now spend some time with my mother (which we thought may never happen due to how poorly he was). My family and are very grateful to everyone who works at Bramhall Manor. I feel my parents are in good hands .

My father was in hospital and wasn't well enough to go back home so we looked for a local care home so that my mother could visit him easily. Luckily Bramhall Manor had a suitable bed for him. I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness, caring and professional manor which they have shown towards
our family. Rowena, Karina and Marie have all been amazing and making the move from the hospital to the home run so smoothly, I can't thank you enough.
My father has been a resident now for 2 weeks and the service and care he has received has been first class.
The facilities are excellent and nothing has been too much trouble.
Its reassuring to know that my Father is in the best place receiving the best care.
Thank you also for the kindness you have shown my Mother at this difficult time for her.
A big thank you to you all.

My husband came in here from hospital and during his short stay, 7 1/2 weeks, the care he received was superb. The staff showed genuine compassion, warmth & professionalism. He was treated with dignity and kindness attending to not just his medical needs but also his comfort and emotionall well-being.
The centre was calm, clean and welcoming. Every member of the team from nurses & support staff took time to get to know him. I will always be gratefull for the peace & care they gave my husband in his final weeks. It meant a great deal to me.

My Mum was sent to Bramhall Manor through discharge to assess after a long stay in hospital. Mum has vascular dementia and finds it difficult to make and maintain short term memories. This meant that she was struggling to settle because she couldn't understand why she was there. This made things a
little bit challenging for the staff and carers and they were struggling to meet Mum's needs. One of the nurses and a couple of the carers registered complaints against Mum because of this which was quite upsetting.
Also, I have real concerns about risk and how risk is being assessed and managed at Bramhall Manor. Mum had a fall whilst she was here, hit her head and had to go to hospital to be checked over and have a rather nasty gash, which she got when she fell, at the back of her head stitched. I later found out from the paperwork that she had been left asleep in a chair unattended and without regularly being checked on. I would think twice about placing a relative in here
Reply from Rowena Bolton, Manager at Bramhall Manor Care HomePlease accept my apologies that you felt Bramhall Manor didn't manage your Mum's fall well, and that you did not feel you could raise a concern at the time of the incident. I can advise that the home has acoustic monitoring at night. This monitors the room for any sound or movement and alerts staff that they need to attend to a resident. This means that we can sometimes prevent a fall occurring. Unfortunately, if we have not been able to prevent the fall, we know immediately and can attend quickly. I can confirm that the staff also go into rooms in line with resident's assessed needs during the night. I can also advise that the paperwork that goes with residents to hospital is a "hospital pack". This is a summary of the person's needs and the reason for their visit to the hospital. It is not all of the notes that were recorded during the shift. I would have been very happy to discuss this at time, if you would like to discuss this further then please do not hesitate to contact me

My mother was placed in Bramhall Manor following a flood at her house; It was supposed to be a temporary placement but it is so lovely and Mum is so wonderfully cared for that we were happy to make it permanent. The staff are so kind and caring, nothing is too much trouble for them, the meals are excellent
and the home itself is spotless. We visit often but when we go home it is in the knowledge that she is safe and cared for by good people.

The reception team are the first people you meet as you enter. They are excellent and cannot do enough to welcome you and assist. Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.703)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.703) out of 10 for Bramhall Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.703 for Bramhall Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (236 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 303 Ratings = 4.703
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bramhall Manor Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I qualified in 1995 in Leicester as one of the first Project 2000 diploma nurses. I then worked in Reading and Cheltenham for the NHS before moving to care homes in 2007, and moved to Cheadle Hulme in 2009. I have worked in a Clinical Lead role since 2017.

My background and passion are stroke care, end-of-life care and looking after people living with dementia. I love to mentor and coach people on how to give good care to people living with dementia, putting the person first and dementia second. New Care has the values that I hold dear as a nurse, which is putting the resident at the centre of everything we do and building a new team at Bramhall Manor means we can move forward with that philosophy as a team.

Carina

Carina

Job Title: Clinical Lead

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2009 and have worked predominantly within Community Nursing. During this time, I completed my Specialist Practitioner Postgraduate Degree, which gave me the skills to lead and develop services in the management of people with long-term health conditions, frailty and palliative care. I was also fortunate to attend a programme with the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and successfully became one of the first community nurses in the UK to receive the title of Florence Nightingale Community Nurse.

My passion has always been delivering excellent care and exceeding expectations, not only for the residents but also for their family and friends. By treating each person as an individual and tailoring their needs through evaluation and feedback, I aim to promote and deliver the highest standard of care delivery where compassion meets expertise.

I am proud to be part of this fantastic team here at Bramhall Manor, and alongside our Home Manager, Head of Care, Nurses, Team Leads, Carers and Ancillary Staff, we strive to deliver uncompromising quality in every touch.

Candice

Candice

Job Title: Head of Care

My name is Candice, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the Head of Care at Bramhall Manor. Care has been close to my heart both personally and professionally since 2007. I started out as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to a Deputy Manager position before seeking a new challenge elsewhere. I am now proud to be part of a fantastic team here at Bramhall Manor.

For me, care is a passion, and I take pride in providing all aspects of care to a very high standard. I strive to treat the residents in my care as I would my own family. I like to go home at the end of the day knowing I have done all I can to help provide care and support to the residents, families and staff in our home.

Care for me is not just about the residents but also their families and friends. I understand on a personal level the difficulties faced by families when the time comes to seek extra care for their relatives. Having a service you can trust is of the utmost importance. I strive to provide support to the family and friends of our residents, and I’m always here to lend an ear and offer any support I can.

My passion is making somebody’s day a little brighter, and at Bramhall Manor, that comes naturally. The warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit of both residents and staff make every day meaningful.

I have a particular passion for dementia care, and I’m committed to supporting each resident with compassion, dignity, and understanding.

If you asked my friends to describe me, they’d say I’m funny, caring, compassionate, honest, and a natural leader.

Bramhall Manor isn’t just where I work; it’s where I feel proud to make a difference.

Job Title: Head Chef

I’ve worked at Bramhall Manor as Head Chef for three years. Before this, I worked in hotels across the UK, including London, Newcastle, and the Lake District. I love working at Bramhall because it gives me the chance to really get to know our residents—their likes, dislikes, and the stories behind their love of food. I’ve even learned a tip or two from some of our dab-hand bakers!

Job Title: Head of Hospitality

My name is Hayley, and I'm the Head of Hospitality here at Bramhall Manor.

Cooking has always been a true passion of mine, and I'm proud to hold both Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in professional cookery. I joined the team four years ago, and for over a year now, I've had the privilege of leading the hospitality team – a role that allows me to combine my love for food with my dedication to creating a warm, welcoming environment for our residents.

Caring is something that has shaped me from a young age. I've been a carer for my mum since I was 10, and that experience taught me compassion, patience and the importance of making others feel valued. I always knew I wanted to use those experiences to support others, and working at Bramhall Manor truly feels like an honour.

Every day I'm grateful for the chance to meet incredible people and listen to the stories that have shaped their lives. I'm easy going, outgoing and compassionate – and I bring that energy into everything I do.

Job Title: Resident Committee

My name is George, and I'm proud to be an honorary team member here at Bramhall Manor, serving on the residents' committee.

I was born on 19th August 1946 and grew up in Heaton Moor, where I developed a love of learning and made friendships I still treasure. After school, I worked at The Co-op in customer service – I've always enjoyed meeting people and helping where I can.

Family means everything to me. I'm devoted to my sister Judy and my nephews Andrew, Michael and Philip, who I'm very proud of.

I've always believed in giving back. Before coming to Bramhall Manor, I volunteered for two years at the Primus Community Centre in Stockport, helping in the kitchen and welcoming people through the doors. Now, I'm delighted to continue that spirit here as part of the residents' committee.

One of the things I enjoy most is visiting the first floor to spend time with friends and sit with anyone who might need a bit of company. I love trips out, meeting new people and having a good chat. If I can brighten someone's day with a smile or a friendly hello, that makes my day too.

My name is Joe, and I've been part of the team here at Bramhall Manor since January 2025.

My background is in entertainment, which has been fantastic in this role. I love bringing a smile to the residents' faces with bad puns and cheesy dance moves. There's nothing better than sharing a laugh and brightening someone's day.
