Formby Manor Care Home

My mum moved into Formby Manor in February 2026. She had always been adamant that she would never "go into care" and was very independent.
When it was clear that she could not manage safely at home anymore, mum thankfully made the decision that she needed residential care and I was so lucky to find
Formby Manor as the solution. Mum was still very unsure and concerned about what it would be like, but the staff instantly made her feel so welcome! They were warm, reassuring and caring.
Mum has flourished and is far more socially active now than she was at home. With the encouragement of staff she decided to join in the numerous activities (including a recent day out, something that would never have happened if she had remained at home)
Mum has a lovely room, proper home cooked meals, frequent social contact throughout the day - and her mood is so much brighter than when she was at home.
She has nothing but praise for the staff - and I feel the same. Recommend 100%

Mum has settled well into her new home and this is down to the wonderful, hard working and dedicated staff, which are extremely well led by the management team. There is always a warm welcome when we visit mum and we always find mum happy and enjoying her day. Mum finds her room comfortable and enjoys
her meals and snacks throughout the day. We all enjoy going downstairs to the cafe area and enjoying a drink together, in comfort and meeting other residents families. There is always a lovely ambience. Mum also enjoys sitting within the lounge area which has a lovely view of the lake. Sometimes the garden area is her choice which has comfortable seating. A settled, happy mum takes a lot of stress and worry from us as a family. We can only thank everyone at the Waterside for this.

I would have given a higher mark if the dining area had a quieter section where those people who did not require as much help with eating etc could be seated together. Some facilities i.e. bed, bed table, shower (lack of maintenance?) (due to ongoing work being carried out?). Staff good, maybe a few
more needed because of number of people needing facilities (i.e. different needs).
Reply from Scarlett Ward, Relationships and comms coordinator at Charlotte House Care HomeThank you so much for your valued feedback. We are happy to hear that you are pleased with the home staff, who all work extremely hard to ensure they deliver a high level of care. We take all feedback and concerns seriously, and we would like to reassure you that we now have a hospitality assistant who started with the home. We work to promote residents' choices in where and who they wish to sit with, and the rooms are regularly audited and refurbished between admissions. Please feel welcome to get in touch with a member of our staff if you have any questions, who would be happy to help you further.

Formby Manor Care Home

My mum moved into Formby Manor mid February for end of life nursing care.
I had been advised to visit a number of other care homes in the area, which I did, and none compared to Formby Manor. I visited un-announced and from the moment I walked in I knew it was the right place for my mum. The care home
itself is spotlessly clean, welcoming and the decor / surroundings are exceptional. Due to my mum's illness, her deterioration was quick but all the way through her care I was notified of every change in her condition. The nursing team and care assistants that looked after my mum did so with genuine compassion, sensitivity, kindness and respect. I really could not have asked for more at such a difficult time. The kindness to me and dignity you showed to my mum at the time she passed away will stay with me forever.
Thank you to every single member of the Formby Manor team. You are an absolute credit to your profession.
Reply from Nikki Foster, Home Manager at Formby Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt feedback. We are truly honoured that you chose Formby Manor to care for your mum during such an important and emotional time.
Your kind words about our home, most importantly our team mean a great deal to us. Providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care is something we take very seriously, and it is reassuring to know that you felt fully informed, supported, and cared for throughout your mum's time with us.
I will be sure to share your comments with our nursing and care teams, who will be deeply touched to know that their kindness, sensitivity, and respect made a difference to both your mum and to you as a family. Knowing that our care brought comfort during such a difficult period is the greatest compliment we could receive.

My mum recently died having spent the last 10 months of her life at Waterside St Helens. She was 3 weeks shot of her 95th birthday and her mobility was very poor - so it was not a surprise, and she chose not to be admitted to hospital. The 'end of life' care at the home was excellent. She was treated
with care, compassion _ kindness from all members of the team - from nurses to cleaners - they literally couldn't do enough for her. She passed away peacefully + painlessly with family present. You staff are your greatest asset. Treat them well.
Reply from Alexandra Fairhurst, Commissioning Manager at The Waterside Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review during what we know is a difficult period for you and your family. Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your Mum. It was a privilege for all of us at The Waterside to care for her over the past 10 months.
We are truly grateful for your kind words about the team and the end-of-life care your Mum received. Ensuring comfort, dignity and compassion at every stage of life is at the core of what we do and knowing that your Mum felt supported and peaceful means a great deal to us. Your recognition of every member of the team, from nurses to housekeeping, will be shared with them and I know it will mean so much.

Thank you again for your trust, your kindness and your thoughtful reminder about valuing our staff. We are honoured to have been part of your Mum's journey and to have supported your family through her final days.

I have visited my friend, with another friend, on three occasions recently, at Waterside. At all times, we have been impressed and reassured by the level of care, cleanliness and sheer good natured kindness displayed by the staff. Our friend tells us about the many opportunities for various activities
available and she also appreciates the freedom to choose that she experiences. Our friends life ahs been one of positivity and she has contributed to the lives of others in many ways. She is worthy of respect and gratitude for her contributions.

Formby Manor Care Home

My dad moved into this care home at the beginning of January 2026. My experience of this care home from my first visit to see if it would be suitable, to date, has been first class. All the staff are warm, friendly, conscientious and have made my dad feel at home and cared for.
I never thought my
dad would like living in a care home, but from day 1 he has loved it. It feels more like a hotel than a care home. Within the short time he has lived there, he seems happier, his mobility is better and he looks about 5 years younger. Thank you to all the staff for providing care second to none. I am encouraged to ask the staff if dad needs anything, nothing is too much trouble. I firmly believe that the ethos in the home comes from having brilliant managers in Nicky and Adele and which is embraced by all the staff in the care, attitude and helpfulness. A very big thank you to all!
Reply from Nikki Foster, Home Manager at Formby Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and uplifting review. We are truly delighted to hear how well your dad has settled in. Knowing that he feels at home, comfortable, and happy means the world to us.
Our team will be over the moon to hear your kind words. We take great pride in creating a warm, friendly, and supportive environment, and it's wonderful to hear that this has made such a positive difference to your dad especially in such a short time. To hear that he looks happier even seems younger is incredibly rewarding.
Thank you also for recognising the work of our team. Their commitment to high-quality care and a positive culture is something we are very proud of, and your feedback highlights exactly why this ethos matters.
Please know that we are always here for you and your dad. No question or request is ever too much trouble, and we're grateful for the review. This has made our day, we all adore your dad

Look carefully at care quality recommendations. Staffing levels inadequate. If staff members off sick instructions agency staff not to be employed. Food quality poor. Served often cold. Microwave in dining room if residents complain. Lower dining room residents unable to feed themselves fed by staff.
Bibs placed on them. Residents wanting to return to room in wheelchairs told must wait until end of meal service no staff available to return them to room. Inadequate staff dangerously low at meal times. Residents crying out at night left unattended. No staff at times lower floor. Bells not answered.

My friend is treated with care and compassion - staff are lovely, friendly and know the residents by first name. Reception staff are so helpful and know the visitors by name. Rooms are lovely and cosy. A few ' teething problems' with shower and care button soon resolved. The trips out are welcomed by
residents and enjoyed.
