My mum moved into Formby Manor mid February for end of life nursing care.
I had been advised to visit a number of other care homes in the area, which I did, and none compared to Formby Manor. I visited un-announced and from the moment I walked in I knew it was the right place for my mum. The care home
itself is spotlessly clean, welcoming and the decor / surroundings are exceptional. Due to my mum's illness, her deterioration was quick but all the way through her care I was notified of every change in her condition. The nursing team and care assistants that looked after my mum did so with genuine compassion, sensitivity, kindness and respect. I really could not have asked for more at such a difficult time. The kindness to me and dignity you showed to my mum at the time she passed away will stay with me forever.
Thank you to every single member of the Formby Manor team. You are an absolute credit to your profession.

My mum recently died having spent the last 10 months of her life at Waterside St Helens. She was 3 weeks shot of her 95th birthday and her mobility was very poor - so it was not a surprise, and she chose not to be admitted to hospital. The 'end of life' care at the home was excellent. She was treated
with care, compassion _ kindness from all members of the team - from nurses to cleaners - they literally couldn't do enough for her. She passed away peacefully + painlessly with family present. You staff are your greatest asset. Treat them well.

Charlotte House is a lovely welcoming home. Lovely & clean, decor is very nice. All the staff are all very professional, smartly dressed and very caring. I have visited my friend, with another friend, on three occasions recently, at Waterside. At all times, we have been impressed and reassured by the level of care, cleanliness and sheer good natured kindness displayed by the staff. Our friend tells us about the many opportunities for various activities
available and she also appreciates the freedom to choose that she experiences. Our friends life ahs been one of positivity and she has contributed to the lives of others in many ways. She is worthy of respect and gratitude for her contributions.

My dad moved into this care home at the beginning of January 2026. My experience of this care home from my first visit to see if it would be suitable, to date, has been first class. All the staff are warm, friendly, conscientious and have made my dad feel at home and cared for.
I never thought my
dad would like living in a care home, but from day 1 he has loved it. It feels more like a hotel than a care home. Within the short time he has lived there, he seems happier, his mobility is better and he looks about 5 years younger. Thank you to all the staff for providing care second to none. I am encouraged to ask the staff if dad needs anything, nothing is too much trouble. I firmly believe that the ethos in the home comes from having brilliant managers in Nicky and Adele and which is embraced by all the staff in the care, attitude and helpfulness. A very big thank you to all!

We can't thank the staff enough at the waterside for the care & attention given to my mother in law. The staff are truly amazing and really do have a can do attitude and nothing is too much for them.
The care home has a five star hotel feel to it and is spotlessly clean in every department

From the minute you arrive at the waterside you are made to feel at home . The attention to detail from the restaurants to the rooms is amazing.

Look carefully at care quality recommendations. Staffing levels inadequate. If staff members off sick instructions agency staff not to be employed. Food quality poor. Served often cold. Microwave in dining room if residents complain. Lower dining room residents unable to feed themselves fed by staff.
Bibs placed on them. Residents wanting to return to room in wheelchairs told must wait until end of meal service no staff available to return them to room. Inadequate staff dangerously low at meal times. Residents crying out at night left unattended. No staff at times lower floor. Bells not answered.

My friend is treated with care and compassion - staff are lovely, friendly and know the residents by first name. Reception staff are so helpful and know the visitors by name. Rooms are lovely and cosy. A few ' teething problems' with shower and care button soon resolved. The trips out are welcomed by
residents and enjoyed.

I visit my friend once a week, she moved in to Formby Manor in November 2025, and I visit her weekly. From walking through the door everyone is warm and welcoming, I am always offered cup of coffee, cake or biscuits and if am still there at Lunch time I get offered lunch. Formby Manor is spotless and
smells lovely and clean. My friend speaks to highly of everyone and says how she is made to feel speacil. I very much highly recommended this beautiful home. I work away and I have peace of mine knowing my long time friend is well care for. One word amazing

My uncle needed a respite care home from Sept 2025 and then became a permanent resident from 1st November 2025. From Michelle's initial first home visit up to today, I cannot tell you enough just how fantastic the whole team have been. Paula the manager is always happy and answers any questions or
concerns we have and resolves them immediately. Uncle Ken is fully settled in now and even after a couple of medical issues when we had to be at Waterside in the middle of the night, every single member of staff has been fantastic to us but most importantly to Uncle Ken. The activities and day trips are brilliant, the updates on social media are so regular and lovely to see all the residents having fun and happy times. I can't recommend Waterside Care home enough. Nothing is too much for anyone who works at Waterside. It's a very hard decision to move a very loved member of the family into care, but Waterside have held our hand throughout the process. Thank you for looking after Uncle Ken.

When my widowed sister was diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer's Dementia we realised that she could no longer live alone and long term continuous care was needed. We contacted Waterside Care Home and were able to view the premises on the following day. We were made very welcome and given an
extensive tour of the facilities, as well as being introduced to various staff members.
The building is well laid out and has many communal areas and dining rooms on each floor. The residents' private rooms are furnished to a high standard and have excellent en-suite bathrooms. We were impressed by the comprehensive arrangements in place to ensure that residents were safe at all times and the extensive programme of activities provided to occupy their time.
We arranged for the Care Home manager to visit my sister at home to discuss in more detail her moving into the home as a long term resident. The meeting took place within a few days and a date was agreed for my sister to move to Waterside. This whole process took only one week and my sister is now happily settled at Waterside.

Having our mother as a resident here has been an incredibly reassuring experience for our whole family.
The staff consistently demonstrate an attentive approach to her care that goes far beyond routine duties. Every interaction, whether it's helping her with daily tasks, offering a kind word, or simply
taking the time to listen, reflects a genuine commitment to her wellbeing.


What stands out most is the team's compassionate professionalism. They notice the small things, respond quickly to any concerns, and treat our mother with dignity and warmth.


The environment they create is one of comfort and trust, and knowing she is surrounded by people who truly care gives us immense peace of mind. We are deeply grateful for the team's dedication, patience, and kindness.

Charlotte House is a modern, spacious and welcoming care home. All staff from the cleaners up to the management are helpful and efficient, as well as displaying a caring, gentle approach to the residents. They do what they say they will and the organisation is tremendous. My husband is a stickler for
time. He said 'they say they'll be there at a time and they are, I don't know how they do it!'. Charlotte House staff have made the difficult transition from 52 years living together much more bearable that it would otherwise have been. Thank you.
