I cannot find fault with Formby Manor. Everybody in the home takes time both with the residents - their families. The facilities are exceptional. It is like being in a hotel. The home is spacious. The garden areas are well maintained. The food is of a high standard & the dining rooms are like a restaurant
with tablecloths and menus. Nothing is too much trouble. The residents are all treated as individuals. The care shown is genuine. The daily activities cater for all & the trips out are just another nice touch. Highly recommend. Thank you all

On our initial visit to enquire about respite care we were impressed by the surroundings and general friendliness of the staff.
When we took mum in she was made to feel welcome and at home. She was well looked after with excellent meals and thoroughly enjoyed the activities making several friends.
It gave us peace of mind to know she was being cared for by people who genuinely care. She is looking forward to the next stay

Formby Manor Care Home has provided exceptional care, kindness, and support for my dad and our family.
The home manager gave instant urgent support when first contacted making everything so seamless and easy.
From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff made both residents and relatives
feel welcome, respected, and valued.
The care team are compassionate, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to the wellbeing of every resident. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and it is clear that they take the time to get to know each individual personally. The home itself is warm, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, creating a safe and reassuring environment.
Communication with families is excellent, and we have always felt informed and involved. The activities, social opportunities, and attention to residents' emotional wellbeing help create a real sense of community and belonging.

My mother came to Charlotte House in mid February 2026, having been in residential care elsewhere for five and a half years. Mums dementia/alzheimer's had become more challenging and it was mutually agreed that she needed a different form of care, albeit not EMI. Charlotte House was just the answer.
Mum had a lovely room which was kept immaculately clean and she always had clean clothing available in her dressing table. The clothes cleaning regime was excellent, particularly as mum was incontinent and had very little awareness of her daily needs. The food was good and her carers and all staff were lovely, with good senses of humour, which mum liked, and they provided quick attention when interventions were required. Sadly mum passed away very suddenly at the beginning of May, and we received a very nice condolence card from the home.
Reply from Scarlett Ward, Relationships and comms coordinator at Charlotte House Care HomeWe were very sorry to learn of your mother's sudden passing, and we extend our sincere condolences once again to you and your family. It was a privilege to be part of her care, and we hope the condolence card brought a small measure of comfort during a difficult time. It means a great deal to us to know that she felt so comfortable and well-supported during her time with us here at Charlotte House, especially after so many years in her previous home. Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review, we truly appreciate it.

When you arrive at the nursing home, always say "hello"; sometimes management acknowledges you. Now I am in customer service, it takes nothing to say hello. I know people are busy, but in front of visitors, always pass the time of day. When you ask a problem, you feel as if it a inconvenience, but when
being shown around. completely different. Very dissatisfied as pay a lot of money
Reply from Nikki Foster, Home Manager at Formby Manor Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am very sorry to read about your experience and that you were not always acknowledging you when you arrived. At Formby Manor, we pride ourselves on providing a warm and welcoming environment to everyone who visits the home. A simple "hello" and acknowledging visitors is a fundamental part of good customer service, and it is disappointing to hear that this has not always been your experience. Your feedback is very important and highlights an area we need to strengthen. If you would be willing to discuss your feedback further, I would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so we can learn from your experience and make improvements.

My mum moved into Formby Manor in February 2026. She had always been adamant that she would never "go into care" and was very independent.
When it was clear that she could not manage safely at home anymore, mum thankfully made the decision that she needed residential care and I was so lucky to find
Formby Manor as the solution. Mum was still very unsure and concerned about what it would be like, but the staff instantly made her feel so welcome! They were warm, reassuring and caring.
Mum has flourished and is far more socially active now than she was at home. With the encouragement of staff she decided to join in the numerous activities (including a recent day out, something that would never have happened if she had remained at home)
Mum has a lovely room, proper home cooked meals, frequent social contact throughout the day - and her mood is so much brighter than when she was at home.
She has nothing but praise for the staff - and I feel the same. Recommend 100%

Mum has settled well into her new home and this is down to the wonderful, hard working and dedicated staff, which are extremely well led by the management team. There is always a warm welcome when we visit mum and we always find mum happy and enjoying her day. Mum finds her room comfortable and enjoys
her meals and snacks throughout the day. We all enjoy going downstairs to the cafe area and enjoying a drink together, in comfort and meeting other residents families. There is always a lovely ambience. Mum also enjoys sitting within the lounge area which has a lovely view of the lake. Sometimes the garden area is her choice which has comfortable seating. A settled, happy mum takes a lot of stress and worry from us as a family. We can only thank everyone at the Waterside for this.

I would have given a higher mark if the dining area had a quieter section where those people who did not require as much help with eating etc could be seated together. Some facilities i.e. bed, bed table, shower (lack of maintenance?) (due to ongoing work being carried out?). Staff good, maybe a few
more needed because of number of people needing facilities (i.e. different needs).
Reply from Phil Evans, General Manager at Charlotte House Care HomeThank you so much for your valued feedback. We are happy to hear that you are pleased with the home staff, who all work extremely hard to ensure they deliver a high level of care. We take all feedback and concerns seriously, and we would like to reassure you that we now have a hospitality assistant who started with the home. We work to promote residents' choices in where and who they wish to sit with, and the rooms are regularly audited and refurbished between admissions. Please feel welcome to get in touch with a member of our staff if you have any questions, who would be happy to help you further.

My mum moved into Formby Manor mid February for end of life nursing care.
I had been advised to visit a number of other care homes in the area, which I did, and none compared to Formby Manor. I visited un-announced and from the moment I walked in I knew it was the right place for my mum. The care home
itself is spotlessly clean, welcoming and the decor / surroundings are exceptional. Due to my mum's illness, her deterioration was quick but all the way through her care I was notified of every change in her condition. The nursing team and care assistants that looked after my mum did so with genuine compassion, sensitivity, kindness and respect. I really could not have asked for more at such a difficult time. The kindness to me and dignity you showed to my mum at the time she passed away will stay with me forever.
Thank you to every single member of the Formby Manor team. You are an absolute credit to your profession.
Reply from Nikki Foster, Home Manager at Formby Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt feedback. We are truly honoured that you chose Formby Manor to care for your mum during such an important and emotional time. Your kind words about our home, most importantly our team mean a great deal to us. Providing compassionate, dignified end-of-life care is something we take very seriously, and it is reassuring to know that you felt fully informed, supported, and cared for throughout your mum's time with us. I will be sure to share your comments with our nursing and care teams, who will be deeply touched to know that their kindness, sensitivity, and respect made a difference to both your mum and to you as a family. Knowing that our care brought comfort during such a difficult period is the greatest compliment we could receive.

My mum recently died having spent the last 10 months of her life at Waterside St Helens. She was 3 weeks shot of her 95th birthday and her mobility was very poor - so it was not a surprise, and she chose not to be admitted to hospital. The 'end of life' care at the home was excellent. She was treated
with care, compassion _ kindness from all members of the team - from nurses to cleaners - they literally couldn't do enough for her. She passed away peacefully + painlessly with family present. You staff are your greatest asset. Treat them well.
Reply from Alexandra Fairhurst, Commissioning Manager at The Waterside Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review during what we know is a difficult period for you and your family. Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your Mum. It was a privilege for all of us at The Waterside to care for her over the past 10 months. We are truly grateful for your kind words about the team and the end-of-life care your Mum received. Ensuring comfort, dignity and compassion at every stage of life is at the core of what we do and knowing that your Mum felt supported and peaceful means a great deal to us. Your recognition of every member of the team, from nurses to housekeeping, will be shared with them and I know it will mean so much.
Thank you again for your trust, your kindness and your thoughtful reminder about valuing our staff. We are honoured to have been part of your Mum's journey and to have supported your family through her final days.
