Dad is so happy living at Charlotte House. Best decision we made. He couldn't think about living anywhere else now. Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.

Reply from Scarlett Ward, Relationships and comms coordinator at Charlotte House Care Home

Thank you, Daniel, for taking the time to write such a kind review. It is the biggest complement that we could receive to hear that your dad is so happy living with us here at Charlotte House. It is a real pleasure to care for your dad and to offer you support and peace of mind knowing he is content. Your feedback means a lot to us.

My mother came to Charlotte House in mid February 2026, having been in residential care elsewhere for five and a half years. Mums dementia/alzheimer's had become more challenging and it was mutually agreed that she needed a different form of care, albeit not EMI. Charlotte House was just the answer. Mum had a lovely room which was kept immaculately clean and she always had clean clothing available in her dressing table. The clothes cleaning regime was excellent, particularly as mum was incontinent and had very little awareness of her daily needs. The food was good and her carers and all staff were lovely, with good senses of humour, which mum liked, and they provided quick attention when interventions were required. Sadly mum passed away very suddenly at the beginning of May, and we received a very nice condolence card from the home.

Reply from Scarlett Ward, Relationships and comms coordinator at Charlotte House Care Home

We were very sorry to learn of your mother's sudden passing, and we extend our sincere condolences once again to you and your family. It was a privilege to be part of her care, and we hope the condolence card brought a small measure of comfort during a difficult time. It means a great deal to us to...

I would have given a higher mark if the dining area had a quieter section where those people who did not require as much help with eating etc could be seated together. Some facilities i.e. bed, bed table, shower (lack of maintenance?) (due to ongoing work being carried out?). Staff good, maybe a few more needed because of number of people needing facilities (i.e. different needs).

Reply from Phil Evans, General Manager at Charlotte House Care Home

Thank you so much for your valued feedback. We are happy to hear that you are pleased with the home staff, who all work extremely hard to ensure they deliver a high level of care. We take all feedback and concerns seriously, and we would like to reassure you that we now have a hospitality assistant...

Charlotte House is a modern, spacious and welcoming care home. All staff from the cleaners up to the management are helpful and efficient, as well as displaying a caring, gentle approach to the residents. They do what they say they will and the organisation is tremendous. My husband is a stickler for time. He said 'they say they'll be there at a time and they are, I don't know how they do it!'. Charlotte House staff have made the difficult transition from 52 years living together much more bearable that it would otherwise have been. Thank you.

All of the nursing care staff are kind and efficient. The cleaning staff are hard working and good humoured. Catering is a good standard. Reception and administration staff are very pleasant and efficient.

The manager is evasive, illusive and difficult to contact and avoids personal contact with residents and relatives. In a whole year I have not met him once and I have only glimpsed him four times. He does not return phone calls when arranged. He is indeed remote.

Exceptional care and comfort at Charlotte House Care Home.
We cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding care that Charlotte House Care Home has provided for our mother. From the moment we chose this facility, we felt a deep sense of peace knowing she would be in the best possible hands. Every single day, the team ensures that her days are filled with comfort, love, and the dignity she so rightfully deserves.
The staff go above and beyond to create a serene and warm environment, always attentive to her needs, and making sure she feels valued and cared for. It's incredibly reassuring to see how much genuine care and affection she receives. They not only provide excellent professional care but also foster a nurturing, family-like atmosphere. Mum is always calm and content, surrounded by kindness, and that is all we could ever hope for.

My mum came to Charlotte House after having a fall at home and breaking her hip. She was unable to walk. After the sixth week of respite, as a family, it was decided that Mum was better in Charlotte House, as she lived alone. Mum has adapted to the care home environment really well and loves all the staff and the interaction with the residents. The home is always immaculate. The food is excellent, and Mum's put weight on. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

Phil Job Title:General ManagerJoined: 2021

I have worked in the care industry for 29 years to date.

I have managed a range of different services, from commissioning new services to troubleshooting and improving struggling homes. I have also had experience as a regional manager, which gave me the opportunity to manage people who have become dispersed across several local authorities.

I have a degree in management, a Registered Manager's Award, and Level 5 in care management. I am also a trained dementia tutor. I am passionate about providing excellent care. I pride myself on inspiring my team to make a difference in our residents' lives.

Leanne
Leanne Job Title:Deputy Manager

I have worked in the care sector since the age of 18 and have built my career around delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I am a trained Registered Nurse and have been a Deputy Manager for the past five years, with experience across both care home settings and the NHS.

I hold a degree in Nursing, have completed my Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and I am currently working towards my Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, travelling around the UK, and exploring new places and experiences.

Lisa
Lisa Job Title:Wellbeing Coordinator

I've been working on activities now for a little under a year. My reasons for taking this position were that I wanted to bring a little light into our residents' world. Especially those living with dementia. I wanted our residents to understand that just because they live in a care home now doesn't mean their life has to stop. We can still do all the things they used to do at home, like cooking, gardening, taking trips out, and socialising. If I can bring a little bit of excitement into their world. I know I've done my job.

In my spare time, I love spending time with friends and family and my little dog.

Dominic
Dominic Job Title:Head Chef

I have worked 14 years as a chef, and I've been the head chef in 2 previous kitchens, this being my third. All are 5-star kitchens. I started as a kitchen assistant when I was 16 and gradually worked my way up. I ran a small care home kitchen previously and now manage Charlotte House care home kitchen, which is a 5-star kitchen which I’m very proud of.

I have the ability to make my own dishes rather than following recipes. Also, knowing my food can make someone’s day and improve how they feel.

When we’ve all worked to overcome and achieve, for example, when we had the summer fayre, we served over 70 people all at the same time, and the food was of a high quality.

When the quality and presentation of my plate, seeing a table praising the food to each other, is the reason why I do what I do.

I coach a kids' football team, 2 years ago, some of the kids didn’t play football. A few months ago, we won the league and a cup. Anything I do, I go all out and give it everything.

A recipe has no soul; you, the chef, must bring the soul to the recipe.

Stephen
Stephen Job Title:Home Administrator

I have a varied background and have been working in care for around five years. Before that, I gained experience in health insurance, retail, and theatre sales and marketing.

My inspiration to work in care came from looking after my mum before she passed away. I’m so pleased I had that time with her, and it made me realise that working in care is about giving something back.

What I enjoy most about my role is the interaction with people. No two days are ever the same, and I love being able to support a variety of people, from residents to team members.

A highlight of my career has been the opportunity to live and work in both France and Germany.

Outside of work, I’m a big film fan and a proud dad to two dogs, a shih tzu named Molly and a lhasa apso named Bobby.

My favourite saying is: “There’s always somebody worse off than you. Be thankful and try to bear others in mind.”
