In recent dealings with the management of Charlotte House I can say that their help and cooperation during a stressful time has been exemplary. The staff are extremely caring and kind with Mom and are always available to offer a helping hand. Facilities are excellent and with the addition of a new minibus residents can look forward to local days out. Well done and thank you.

Returned in October as an essential support carer, provided I had been vaccinated and taken the lateral flow tests per visit when other visitors were not allowed to attend due to Covid restrictions. Charlotte House Care Home has followed all Covid advice extremely well, in order to protect the residents. Have found the new care provider company to be very helpful and good care to the lady I visit each week. The manager, admin, secretaries, care staff and even the cleaning staff are so pleasant too. The meals seem to look very nourishing and well cooked. The lady I see is always kept spotless, her room is kept clean and she is well-liked by all. The whole team are very kind to me and will give me answers to my questions if called upon.

Some staff are very helpful and others are not as helpful. Agency staff are poor.

Menu could be more varied.

Reply from Michelle Oliphant, Regional Support Manager at Charlotte House Care Home

I am so sorry that you feel some of the team are not helpful, I am not aware that you have brought this to anyone's attention to attempt to resolve this for you, I will call you directly to discuss this. You have not made comment on the care and support of your wife so it is really important that we speak so that I can understand and address your concerns.

The care shown to my mum was exceptional. She was really well looked after in every sense of the word.
Whilst the carers we met were all good, I want to mention that one in particular was exceptional. The two nurses that looked after Mum were absolutely brilliant and caring.
The receptionist was so understanding and helpful.

Your admin manager has zero people skills and was dreadful.

Excellent care home as it was for my mother 20 years ago.

Throughout the pandemic over the last dreadful year, it has been heartbreaking to be unable to see our dear Dad, who will be 100 next month! So last week, it was so emotional to have a visit with Dad. The visit was well organised and safe, took place in a pleasant surrounding, and we were looked after by lovely, kind staff members. Dad looked great, and it well looked after and cared for in Charlotte House. We can't thank "team Charlotte" enough for all their love and care for our precious Dad.

My thanks go out to the staff team at Charlotte House Care Home who provided the best quality care, support and compassion. My friend was reluctant to go into residential care but felt immediately safe, respected and cared for at Charlotte House. He was there for over a year and had only positive things to say about the staff team. Also, as visitors, myself and his two sons were made to feel welcome visiting the home which made such a difference. Staff always made time for a chat. I would highly recommend Charlotte House due to the wonderful staff team.

My Brother was anxious and unhappy when he was told he needed to move to a care home. We were worried too but in a very short time of moving to Charlotte House, his mood changed he was happy starting eating well something that had been a real problem before. Now he tells us I Love it here I’m really happy, genuinely words we never expected to hear. That is down to the wonderful staff with whom he has a great rapport. Nothing is too much trouble for them and we as a family are extremely grateful to the staff here. I would recommend Charlotte House to Anyone it’s 5 stars in every way.

All members of staff were excellent, very kind and caring to my mother. My mother was very well looked after. The staff would have a chat with her and show my mother pictures of their families, which my mother loved and would ask about how they were doing. My mother passed away on the 21st August 2019, all the staff that were there, they showed compassion and love to my family and at the passing of my mother, your staff were very genuine.

My mother was admitted into Charlotte House Care Home for some respite care following a short stay in hospital. She was made to feel very welcome and settled in well and quickly, mainly due to the amazing care staff. My mothers, mine and everyone who visited the care home commented on how wonderful the staff are, they are friendly, caring, warm, kind and attentive. They went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable and all her needs were met. I can't thank them enough for everything they have done to help my mother over the last 5 weeks.

Phil Job Title:General ManagerJoined: 2021

I have worked in the care industry for 29 years to date.

I have managed a range of different services, from commissioning new services to troubleshooting and improving struggling homes. I have also had experience as a regional manager, which gave me the opportunity to manage people who have become dispersed across several local authorities.

I have a degree in management, a Registered Manager's Award, and Level 5 in care management. I am also a trained dementia tutor. I am passionate about providing excellent care. I pride myself on inspiring my team to make a difference in our residents' lives.

Leanne
Leanne Job Title:Deputy Manager

I have worked in the care sector since the age of 18 and have built my career around delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I am a trained Registered Nurse and have been a Deputy Manager for the past five years, with experience across both care home settings and the NHS.

I hold a degree in Nursing, have completed my Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and I am currently working towards my Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, travelling around the UK, and exploring new places and experiences.

Lisa
Lisa Job Title:Wellbeing Coordinator

I've been working on activities now for a little under a year. My reasons for taking this position were that I wanted to bring a little light into our residents' world. Especially those living with dementia. I wanted our residents to understand that just because they live in a care home now doesn't mean their life has to stop. We can still do all the things they used to do at home, like cooking, gardening, taking trips out, and socialising. If I can bring a little bit of excitement into their world. I know I've done my job.

In my spare time, I love spending time with friends and family and my little dog.

Dominic
Dominic Job Title:Head Chef

I have worked 14 years as a chef, and I've been the head chef in 2 previous kitchens, this being my third. All are 5-star kitchens. I started as a kitchen assistant when I was 16 and gradually worked my way up. I ran a small care home kitchen previously and now manage Charlotte House care home kitchen, which is a 5-star kitchen which I’m very proud of.

I have the ability to make my own dishes rather than following recipes. Also, knowing my food can make someone’s day and improve how they feel.

When we’ve all worked to overcome and achieve, for example, when we had the summer fayre, we served over 70 people all at the same time, and the food was of a high quality.

When the quality and presentation of my plate, seeing a table praising the food to each other, is the reason why I do what I do.

I coach a kids' football team, 2 years ago, some of the kids didn’t play football. A few months ago, we won the league and a cup. Anything I do, I go all out and give it everything.

A recipe has no soul; you, the chef, must bring the soul to the recipe.

Stephen
Stephen Job Title:Home Administrator

I have a varied background and have been working in care for around five years. Before that, I gained experience in health insurance, retail, and theatre sales and marketing.

My inspiration to work in care came from looking after my mum before she passed away. I’m so pleased I had that time with her, and it made me realise that working in care is about giving something back.

What I enjoy most about my role is the interaction with people. No two days are ever the same, and I love being able to support a variety of people, from residents to team members.

A highlight of my career has been the opportunity to live and work in both France and Germany.

Outside of work, I’m a big film fan and a proud dad to two dogs, a shih tzu named Molly and a lhasa apso named Bobby.

My favourite saying is: “There’s always somebody worse off than you. Be thankful and try to bear others in mind.”
