I guess no one would choose to be in a care home, but Egerton Manor is nothing like a care home - it's more like a 5 star hotel. All the staff are wonderfully kind and caring, and really go above and beyond to make residents feel like it's home and visitors feel like they are truly welcomed. You simply
won't find a more supportive place.

My mum came for 2 weeks respite before christmas - now permanent. She has settled really well and is very much enjoying the activities. The staff are very patient and caring. The food is varied and delicious - good that there is a choice. Her room is always clean. My one niggle is communication - i.e
to the family. This is the only thing that could be improved.

My mum has settled really well here at Egerton Manor. All staff have been very helpful and accommodating in ensuring she feels at home, from her room, food choices and eating with the other residents. Her confidence and overall wellbeing has massively improved. It has been wonderful visiting my mum
and seeing her so happy and also being able to just be her daughter again, sitting and chatting. We are both very happy.

Egerton Manor is a beautiful care home throughout with fantastic facilities which are very well maintained. More importantly though the staff are fabulous, so caring, hardworking and genuinely concerned for the needs of all the residents. It's so reassuring to know my mum is being looked after to
such a high standard. The entertainment team are brilliant too and everyday arrange fun, inclusive and varied activities and outings. Mealtimes are such a treat, beautifully set dining tables, restaurant quality meals and lovely staff members looking after everyone. I thoroughly enjoy visiting my mum and seeing her so happy and having gained so many lovely new friends, they're like one big happy family.
Reply from Alexandra Fairhurst, Commissioning Manager at Egerton Manor Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review. We are truly delighted to hear how happy your mum is at Egerton Manor and that you enjoy your visits with her.
Our team will be thrilled to read your kind words. They work incredibly hard to create a warm, caring and family-like environment, so knowing this is felt and appreciated means a great deal to all of us. We're especially pleased that the activities, dining experience and day to day support have made such a positive impact on your Mum's wellbeing.
Seeing residents build friendships, feel at home and thrive is exactly what we strive for and your feedback reassures us that we're achieving that.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. It's a privilege to care for your mum and to welcome you as part of the Egerton Manor family.

Outstanding care home. We were very concerned about mum going into a care home, but have been so pleased with how well she's fitted in. Activities every day, beautiful facility, and the food is restaurant standard. We couldnt be more pleased. The staff are all absolutely fantastic. Mum, who always said
she never wanted to go into a care home, loves it and says she never wants to leave.
Reply from Alexandra Fairhurst, Commissioning and Marketing Manager at Egerton Manor Care HomeThank you so much for sharing such an outstanding review of Egerton Manor. We're delighted to hear how well your mum has settled in and that she's enjoying her time with us. We're thrilled that you've been pleased with the daily activities, the beautiful surroundings, and the restaurant-standard food. Our staff work incredibly hard to create a warm, engaging, and supportive environment, so your kind words about them are truly appreciated.

My dad is very settled here and well cared for. As a relative, I always feel welcome when visiting and nothing is too much trouble.
My only slight criticism is that recently, I've struggled to get through on the telephone+ get an update on how my dad is doing. Living in Derbyshire, it's important
to be able to get these updates. Appreciate that many times in the day staff are busy with residents.

My mum could not be better cared for. The staff here are amazing. The rooms are beautiful. The food delicious. My mum has so improved in herself - being more positive, laughing, dementia receding. Mum loves the company of both staff and other guests. The entertainment is excellent, day trips out. Great
outdoors. Everything 100%. Thank you you have helped take away a lot of stress and worries.

What a wonderful home. All the staff, whatever your needs, are there for you. Very professional and I want to thank them for the kindness they showed. This is more than a home. Every day activities going on, trips, you are never alone. The company of other people. They go above and beyond, and you won't
find another home (hotel). 5 stars plus. Exceeded my hope for the future. First class.

The staff were very attentive and helpful at most times. Unfortunately for my aunt, there were too many curry/spicy food meals which my aunt does not like, as indeed many older people do not, with only limited alternatives available.

I have had two longish periods of respite care this year at Egerton Manor, both of which were excellent in every way. I have felt cared for and consulted at all times by staff who are a skilled and forever cheerful bunch of colleagues. Egerton Manor is a very welcoming and supportive environment. No
one can really know exactly what is expected when they are looking for this kind of living support, whether it be temporary or permanent, but I have been very happy with my decision to choose Egerton and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Mum has been at Egerton Manor for over a year now and talks of it as "home". The facilities are lovely and certainly not institutional. Her nursing needs and personal care are being very well met and she especially loves her visits to the in-house hairdresser! The staff are approachable and caring;
always ready to discuss Mum's needs and preferences and really seem to understand her. They organised a lovely tea party for her recent birthday and it was a pleasure to see the camaraderie between staff and residents. The manager has a great open-door policy. She is readily on hand to talk things through, offer advice and reassurance and I appreciate her immediate responsiveness to any e mails and calls. Taking on the difficulties and stresses of ageing is not easy but I appreciate all that Egerton Manor does to help my Mum manage and look after her. I never like saying goodbye at the end of my visits but am reassured that I am leaving Mum in caring and professional hands. Thank you.

I am always met by the pleasant ambience of Egerton Manor whenever I visit. The staff of course provided this and never seems too tired to give assistance. A beautiful home with professional and caring staff. Facilities are excellent and, whilst dad's mobility has declined, the staff ensure he can still be part of the activities in the lounge or dining room. Food is always of a very high standard and the staff are always encouraging of close family joining
dad for lunch or dinner. I wouldn't hesitate to advising the home to anybody looking for a home for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.812)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.812) out of 10 for Egerton Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.812 for Egerton Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (254 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.812
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Egerton Manor Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, I’m Donna, the Manager here at Egerton Manor. I have worked in social care for 37 years, starting my career on a YTS scheme before progressing to a general manager in August 2005.

I am incredibly passionate about what I do and strive for excellence. This allows me to create an inclusive, caring, safe environment for people to live. The well-being and happiness of our residents are at the heart of everything I do, and my goal every day is to provide high-quality care and make a positive difference to the people I support.

I am a proud wife and mother to 3 children and 3 grandchildren, and I love my two doggies, Beau and Teddy!

Job Title: Head of Care Joined: 2023

I have worked at Egerton Manor since March 2024 and have recently been appointed as the Head of Care here at the home. I personally find that working with the elderly is an immensely rewarding career, and I love the fact that I am making a difference in the lives of the residents who live here in the home. I have always lived in Bolton and was brought up in the Harwood area. I still live there now, along with my husband Mark, twelve-year-old twins Ava & Daniel, and our miniature sausage dog, Martha. Previous to starting work at Egerton Manor, I held a Deputy Home Manager position for a large care organisation in Bolton. I have worked within the Health and social care sector for over 25 years in various roles, and by doing so, I feel that I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience which I can cascade to our members of staff.

In my spare time (Not that I have a lot of it!!), I enjoy watching my son Daniel play Rugby and Football, and my little girl Ava competes in Street dance competitions all over the country. I have recently been lucky enough to visit Greece twice. My first holiday was to Rhodes, which I visited with my husband and the twins, and then, most recently, I visited the beautiful island of Kefalonia with my mum. My hobbies include walking, gardening, travelling and socialising with my family and friends.
