I cannot thank the staff at Guiseley Manor enough for the exceptional care they provided my mum during an unbearably difficult time. After several awful weeks in hospital, my mum moved into Guiseley Manor for what we hoped would be a much longer period of time than it turned out to be. The manager takes great care in selecting his staff, and this really pays off, from those in reception through to the carers, chefs and administrative staff - all were truly amazing. Mum was treated with love, dignity and respect 24 hours a day. Towards the end, we took turns to stay with her overnight, and the night staff really were like angels in the night. All the carers were exceptional in their care for Mum and support of us. We were made to feel instantly at home, and all of our requests and needs were met with care and compassion. I wish my mum could have had longer there as I really believe she would have loved it (and she was not keen on going into a home!).

Thank you.

One of the most difficult, yet important, decisions is finding the best care home for your loved one. Five months in and I can say that we did that. Greeted with a warm smile on arrival perfectly sets the scene for how lovely this home is. My dad has lots of care needs and is nursed in bed. He is treated with dignity and respect. Although he can't join in many activities due to his health and eyesight, the staff do all they can to keep him engaged and entertained. They also take great care of us and especially my mum, who visits every day. On their 61st wedding anniversary, a lovely meal for two with card and flowers. At Christmas, as Dad couldn't attend the carol service, the choir came and sang in his room. Staff recorded this so we could see Dad was joining in (very thoughtful and moving). Most recently, Valentine's day, Dad's room was bedecked with hearts and flowers (Dad given a rose to hand to Mum) and a lovely afternoon tea for us all to share. We couldn't wish for a better care home.

After having a very stressful time trying to find a nursing care home for Mum, we were told about Guiseley Manor and decided to view it; we were not hopeful; however, the manager showed us around with a high degree of professionalism and an attentive attitude. Since Mum has been with the team, she has settled really well. All the staff have made an extremely stressful time much easier, and we cannot thank them enough - we trust them completely, and this is huge.

From the word go my overall impression of Guiseley Manor was of professionalism coupled with sympathetic treatment. My father has consistently been treated with dignity and helpfulness, as well as understanding, when he has presented difficulties to the staff.

I am originally from the Philippines, where I completed a BSC in Nursing. Victoria Job Title:Head Housekeeper

I’m the Head Housekeeper at our nursing home, where I oversee the housekeeping across all floors and make sure the home is always safe, clean, and welcoming. Before this, I worked as a Head Housekeeper in a psychiatric facility, which gave me valuable experience and a real appreciation for how important a homely environment is in care.

What inspired me to work in care is knowing that even small things, like a tidy room or a kind word, can make a big difference to someone’s day. I especially enjoy learning about our residents’ life stories and finding little ways to make their lives brighter.

I’m most passionate about creating a home where residents feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. A highlight of my career has been leading and supporting my team, watching them grow in confidence and skill while working together to make a positive impact.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking and holidays in the sun.
