One of the most difficult, yet important, decisions is finding the best care home for your loved one. Five months in and I can say that we did that. Greeted with a warm smile on arrival perfectly sets the scene for how lovely this home is. My dad has lots of care needs and is nursed in bed. He is treated
with dignity and respect. Although he can't join in many activities due to his health and eyesight, the staff do all they can to keep him engaged and entertained. They also take great care of us and especially my mum, who visits every day. On their 61st wedding anniversary, a lovely meal for two with card and flowers. At Christmas, as Dad couldn't attend the carol service, the choir came and sang in his room. Staff recorded this so we could see Dad was joining in (very thoughtful and moving). Most recently, Valentine's day, Dad's room was bedecked with hearts and flowers (Dad given a rose to hand to Mum) and a lovely afternoon tea for us all to share. We couldn't wish for a better care home.

After having a very stressful time trying to find a nursing care home for Mum, we were told about Guiseley Manor and decided to view it; we were not hopeful; however, the manager showed us around with a high degree of professionalism and an attentive attitude. Since Mum has been with the team, she has
settled really well. All the staff have made an extremely stressful time much easier, and we cannot thank them enough - we trust them completely, and this is huge.
Reply from Eduardo Jr Buglosa, Home Manager at Guiseley Manor Care HomeThank you for your review; I will pass on to the staff your kind comments about how supportive they were, as you said, trust is a big component, and this means so much to the team as they continue to provide the highest standard of care at all times, thank you.

From the word go my overall impression of Guiseley Manor was of professionalism coupled with sympathetic treatment. My father has consistently been treated with dignity and helpfulness, as well as understanding, when he has presented difficulties to the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.836) out of 10 for Guiseley Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.911 for Guiseley Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.911
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Guiseley Manor Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I am originally from the Philippines, where I completed a BSC in Nursing. I consistently demonstrate and deliver high standards of clinical care, and care deeply about the quality of care my residents receive. I love working and developing with the people I work with, and I aim to deliver the best care for those living here at Guiseley Manor Care Centre.

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

I’m the Head Housekeeper at our nursing home, where I oversee the housekeeping across all floors and make sure the home is always safe, clean, and welcoming. Before this, I worked as a Head Housekeeper in a psychiatric facility, which gave me valuable experience and a real appreciation for how important a homely environment is in care.

What inspired me to work in care is knowing that even small things, like a tidy room or a kind word, can make a big difference to someone’s day. I especially enjoy learning about our residents’ life stories and finding little ways to make their lives brighter.

I’m most passionate about creating a home where residents feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. A highlight of my career has been leading and supporting my team, watching them grow in confidence and skill while working together to make a positive impact.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking and holidays in the sun.
