Respite care was for me my salvation towards recovery in a beautiful yet functional building known as Marsh Farm Manor Care Home. The present team of carers have been welded into a very good, supportive body of men and women of all nationalities. They have both time and ability, giving me the environment
that I felt safe in, as my health changed towards returning to normal living. The variety and excellent quality of food, helped by the care of hair, feet, mental health and entertainment all helped me in my early struggle of mental anguish. I return a better man because I entered these portals full of expectation and was not disappointed. Thank you.

The lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful on booking in and leaving and checked the facilities for any maintenance work required. I was able to point out that a table just needed a part mending. I was surprised to see a bar but that no fitness facilities were present, such as exercise equipment
or a pool. I was disappointed that there was no bottled water available for lunch or herbal/caffeine-free teas. The lunch was not very appetising and very old style and would benefit from being healthier and more cosmopolitan. However, overall a well thought out and good standard of accommodation and service.
Reply from Marietta Cranfield, Home Manager at Marsh Farm Manor Care HomeThank you for your feedback it is gratefully received. We are pleased you are happy overall with Marsh Farm Manor. Our homes are purpose built with residents and their needs in mind, we offer a varied exercise and activities schedule which our residents can join in if they choose. These are planned with our residents wishes taken into account. We are more than happy to supply caffeine free/herbal tea options for our residents if these are requested. We do try to avoid bottled water in order to reduce our carbon footprint and to remain aligned with our sustainability goals in our business plan. Water is available 24/07 as our residents request or as needed. The menus are created with our residents input, we hold monthly residents meetings and the upcoming menu items are discussed and decided upon. We offer regular themed nights so our residents can taste something new if they wish. We pride ourselves on offering a good selection of freshly cooked nutritious meals.

Mum was transferred straight from hospital to Marsh Farm Manor, a new care home in the area. Beautifully furnished with all the facilities you could wish for, lovely quality rooms, mum had a pressure sore from the hospital, they ordered a special air-controlled mattress for her the next day. The food
is exceptional, she is now eating three nutritious meals a day after hardly anything in the hospital. The doctor and nurse have already seen her, the staff are amazing from the hardworking manager to all the carers. Can't praise all of them enough, such a relief.

From the moment we entered the premises, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff members are not only professional but also display genuine compassion and empathy.
The facilities at Marsh Farm Manor are outstanding. The rooms are spacious and clean and are thoughtfully designed
to create a comfortable and homely environment. The dining experience is exceptional, the communal dining areas provide a lovely opportunity for the residents to socialise and enjoy meals together, creating a sense of community and camaraderie.
One aspect that stands out is the personalized care provided to each resident, the staff take the time to understand the needs and preferences of each person and take care to offer support while fostering a sense of dignity and respect.
I would not hesitate to recommend Marsh Farm Manor to anyone looking for a caring place for their relative.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.436)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.436) out of 10 for Marsh Farm Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.511 for Marsh Farm Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 219 Ratings = 4.511
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marsh Farm Manor Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
