The home supports individuals living with long-term conditions such as dementia, complex nursing needs, requirements for long-term care, and short breaks (respite). The Ashridge Apartments enable couples and partners to live together, an option that more mainstream homes often cannot accommodate.
Welwyn Grange is a beautiful new-build home, specially designed to be both ‘fit for purpose’ and with a twist of style. The home comprises of individual households, each with no more than 16 ensuite bedrooms. Every household has its own air-conditioned lounge and dining areas, while all residents can access the communal hair salon, private dining room and cinema room.
As beautiful as the home is, it’s the phenomenal care team who really bring Welwyn Grange to life. Unlike most homes, the nursing team are in addition to the care team numbers. This enables a proactive approach to nursing care, maintaining each person’s physical and mental health while avoiding hospital admissions as much as possible.
Residents are encouraged to prioritise their own well-being and comfort.

This can take as long as you like, but for us to find out more about you and for you to meet the team and tour the home, an hour would be the minimum time you should allocate.
Remote Tours of Welwyn GrangeUsually available on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri(between 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM)Happy to support remote tours, but its not the same as meeting the team and chatting to staff and residents freely as you tour the home, so please come and visit us if at all possibly.... the kettle is always on!
The home love to welcome pets and children (they have baby changing facilities on the ground floor), but they ask that they be supervised at all times. Residents can spend time with visitors in the room or any of the lounge areas or garden.
If residents prefer to meet visitors in a nearby café, pub or park, the home will try to ensure transport is provided.
All visitors will be asked to sign in electronically via the Reception iPad on arrival and out again on leaving.
This enables the home to comply with Fire Regulations and keep all residents, visitors and staff safe.

He had a few health issues & although he couldn't leave his room the staff went above & beyond 24 hrs a day to meet his needs. Welwyn Grange has a magical way of making it feel like a luxury hotel. It is only the numerous Thank you cards make you realise it is where many of the residents end their lives. Even the dying process is made as easy as possible for the resident & their families - such care compassion & excellent palliative care.

Our Dad made Welwyn Grange his home in March 2025 when health issues and lack of mobility meant that he needed additional nursing care. Welwyn Grange made Dad and the whole family welcome from the outset. It was such a comfort to the family that the level of care and attention provided has been excellent from day one. So much so that the family were delighted when Mum decided to join him there in July 2025.
Professional, caring, friendly, thoughtful and considerate staff across the whole team at Welwyn Grange and of course a lovely engaging environment for residents.
Sadly Dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness this summer, his wish to receive end of life care at Welwyn Grange was honoured. Whilst we sadly lost him 3 days ago I on behalf of the whole family would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff for they way nursed and cared for him. The family couldn't have made his passing as dignified gentle and peaceful as it was without you all.

He was very impressed by the attitude of the staff. He said the receptionist was extremely welcoming and understanding on the phone which immediately made an immense impression. The manager showed him around. She, too, has great empathy and understanding.
Welwyn Grange is a most beautiful place, purpose - built and feels like a lovely home.Both I and my husband visited the Grange and were as impressed as our son. All the staff are kind and friendly´.While my husband was there it was his birthday. We celebrated in the special dining room. After searching and viewing many respite care facilities for my husband. Welwyn grange stood out from the moment I walked in the door. The friendly reception, beautiful decor I was impressed. Then Lynne introduced herself and gave us a tour, it really is like a five star hotel. We looked at different rooms, but what was so nice no pressure. Being in the care field for more years then I care to remember I knew what to look for and what questions to ask. My husband needs physio and they were totally open for this to continue. He has been in there three weeks and I had the total break I needed. He has been totally cared for he looks so well, and even his tee shirts are all pressed in the wardrobe. ( I don't iron them) Rooms are spotless. Every staff member you meet greets you .

My Aunt was at Welwyn Grange from July 2025. At this point, it was just end-of-life palliative care, as she was only expected to live for approximately 3 months. She just passed away last week. I'm sure this was only due to the dedicated staff's care and attention. She had just celebrated her 99th birthday with a wonderful Birthday cake and celebrations by the staff. The whole place is just first class, more like a hotel than a care home. The care they took of my Aunt was second to none. I don't live locally, so the weekly phone calls were really appreciated. She was so lucky to spend her final months there. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

My husband went to Welwyn Grange from hospital in February. He was very frail and had Alzhheimers. Unfortunately he only spent 2 weeks there but the care he received was wonderful. Welwyn Grange is more hotel than Nursing Home and spotlessly clean. I found all the staff to be caring, kind, compassionate attentive and they made his last days very comfortable. I'm also grateful for the warmth and care they showed me as I navigated a very difficult time. Before he passed away he had a visit from Fudge, the bunny rabbit, (he loved all animals) I don't think he knew much about it, but it was just another lovely touch that Welwyn Grange provided and I had a lovely cuddle!
I couldn't have asked for a more caring environment and especially staff for my husband to have spent his last days in and with. Thankyou.

My mum moved to Welwyn Grange for palliative nursing care after her needs became too complex to meet at home. At the time it was a difficult decision to make. But very quickly I knew it had been the right one. The staff were amazing at caring for my mum, making sure she was comfortable and well looked after. They took a genuine interest in mum and went out of their way to look after her with dignity. This meant I could spend my time just being with her and making the most of our time together. I felt very supported by the team. Their kindness made a real difference to me in mums final days. The place looks amazing and is always spotlessly clean but it is the exceptional care of the staff that earns Welwyn Grange my five star rating.

After a very emotional experience at another care home, we were delighted when Welwyn Grange agreed to accept my father into their care following his discharge from hospital following a fall back in December 2024. Welwyn Grange is a stunning nursing home and feels like a beautiful hotel when inside. My father had dementia and from the moment he arrived at Welwyn Grange they took great care of him and brought him back from a very poor state of health to the man he was before his fall. My father settled in very well and all the management, support staff and first hand carers treated him with respect and kindness. He was always encouraged to take part in the various activities and ,was shown great affection and friendship from everyone. When, as a family, we felt despair Welwyn Grange were our saviour. My father passed away in December 2025, with great dignity, in his bedroom at Welwyn Grange - just as he would have wanted. Welwyn Grange Nursing Home is just the best - thank you.

Our mum went to Welwyn Grange in May 2025 for respite care - whilst she was there we researched all neighbouring care homes, none came near to the standard of Welwyn Grange so in Aug 2025 mum moved in. She was welcomed immediately by all staff and residents and she could relax in her own lovely bedroom surrounded by all her own bits and bobs or socialise in the several lounges, and we as a family felt secure in the fact that our mum was safe and well looked after. The environment is so relaxed and homely, facilities available to visiting family/friends are excellent too. We can not praise all staff - from those front of house to those well behind the scenes enough - mum had excellent care (almost too much food ;) ).
When mums time came to leave us the nurses on duty and carers were absolutely brilliant - showing mum dignity and love. Thank-you Welwyn Grange !

While we were only there for a short time, the kind, caring staff and beautiful surroundings made his final days comfortable and as good as they could be. We would like to thank all the staff, including the experienced nursing staff, for their attentive, gentle care, thoughtfulness and warmth. Our elderly friend needed respite, and she couldn't have been cared for any better! She was so nervous going in, but the staff made her feel at ease straight away. Staff are clearly enjoying working here and us as visitors were made to feel so welcome.

Staff are clearly enjoying working here and us as visitors were made to feel so welcome. On top of that, the home is beautiful. Our friend is now at home, but told us she'd like to come back for a cuppa and say hello to the staff, and would soon like to go back for her 'pamper holiday'. We brought in an anxious fragile bird, but got back home a chatty confident lady who's spreading her wings!

I have worked for the company for 6 years. My previous role was in the HR Department being one of the first team members and progressing to HR & Learning & Development Officer.
I have been involved with new staff from recruitment through to induction training and beyond; processing changes and leavers. I have built a strong relationship with everyone over that time and have now moved from one of our sister homes to Welwyn Grange; which I am very excited about.
Whilst my 3 children were growing up I worked as a Teaching Assistant at a school in my village and before they came along I worked in several insurance companies in the Customer Service Department.
Working with and helping people in any way that I can is very important to me.
I have a very busy social life, but I also like a bit of ‘me time’ to recharge my batteries by having weekends away with my partner in the campervan.

I am a Registered nurse with over 22 years of experience.
I bring knowledge, skills and experience, working for the NHS, having worked in the care of the Elderly, Acute admission, Emergency Assessment and Day Surgery. I then moved to the care home sector, which enabled me the time to pause and think, helping me to better develop relationships, trust and compassion with my residents.

From a young age, I have always had a keen interest in cooking and used to bake every weekend with my father, so from an early age I knew that I wanted to be a Chef.
At 15 I enrolled in culinary school and completed my NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery and ABC Level 2 in Patisserie. A year later I started my career in hospitality as a Pastry Chef, working in a 2 AA Rosette Restaurant Here I would help with developing new and unique recipes to feature on the menu, as well as prepare desserts for weddings and other events for up to 400 covers.
At the age of 18, I moved into care as a Deputy Chef Manager, here I learned quickly and made my way up to Head Chef in under a year. I developed menus for the Home and for the Day Center, incorporating the dietary requirements of all residents and customers, into daily meals. This meant working a lot with the IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) scale for modified foods and thickened liquids, as well as fortifying foods for those needing to increase or maintain their weight.
As a Chef, I always want to learn new things, so I decided to take the plunge back into hospitality as a Sous Chef, so I could widen my experience. I stayed for 2 years gaining more experience, when I saw the advert for a Head Chef at Potters Grange, a role I instinctively knew was perfect for me.
As Potters Grange is home to a maximum of 20 people, this family-like understanding makes it a lot easier to meet every individual’s needs and requirements, which means residents not only get the meals they like but they are cooked just the way they like it as well!
