Welwyn Grange

Everyone was attentive, patient and most of all cared about the residents, if I could score higher than 5 stars I would. As soon as you walk through the doors it feels like home, not like a traditional care home but more like a 5 star hotel!

Our mother spent 10 weeks in Welwyn Grange for palliative care and had the best care and attention. She was treated with kindness by all staff who spent time looking after her. Mum was checked on regularly by staff who spent time talking and listening to her.

While caring for my parents I have experienced about a dozen different care homes in the Welwyn/Hatfield area over the last 10 years. Some have been good, most average and some just terrible. I came across Welwyn Grange about two months ago and immediately arranged a visit. The building is brand new and the home has only been open for about 10 months. It feels more like a very good hotel and nothing like a typical care home. The internal decor and resident facilities are first class. I was so impressed I decided to transfer my mother from her current home as soon as possible. She has been there for a month now and I have found the staff to be very professional, helpful, attentive and responsive. The activities are extremely well run the care provision is excellent and the residents all appear very settled and happy. In my opinion Welwyn Grange is on a completely different level to any other care home I have experienced and I would thoroughly recommend it. If only all were this good!

We were looking for a care home for my parents located in Hertfordshire who support care service for Dementia for my Dad and nursing care for my mum. We found that The Grange care home caters for all my parents needs in a well organised environment which is friendly, efficient and respectful to all my parents needs. My parents have integrated well into the daily life at The Grange where they have an independent daily routine combined with the educational, fun and community services that The Grange supply. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Grange care home if you are looking for a care home for your loved ones.

As our mum approached end of life it was critical to us as a family that we chose the best possible environment for her to spend her final days. After viewing a number of alternatives, we selected Welwyn Grange and are grateful that we did. From the initial contact that we had pre-admission right through to her care as a resident, it was always professional but also compassionate. Their understanding of both our mum's requirements but also, crucially, our needs as a family at this difficult time could not have been better. We will be forever grateful for this and can highly recommend the Welwyn Grange to anyone considering either residential or nursing care for a loved one.

As a family we were so pleased and fortunate to find Welwyn Grange, as a safe place for our mother to spend her final days. We think that the standard of care she received, in their most caring environment, where she could be surrounded by her own possessions and her family, was exceptional. The high level of care and facilities we don't feel could be improved on. Most importantly of all, the staff were not only totally professional and highly skilled but were overwhelmingly lovely, empathetic people, sensitive to mum's particular needs and to us her children. They supported us completely throughout this very difficult time. We cannot recommend them highly enough - individually, as a team, and as a care home.

My husband was in Welwyn Grange for respite. The care he received from all members of the very friendly, supportive staff throughout his stay was excellent. The bedroom and communal rooms were of the highest quality. I thoroughly recommend choosing Welwyn Grange.

We have been looking for respite for my mummy and I visited the Grange and was so excited and happy that a place as beautiful and all staff members so caring and knowledgeable existed. We booked mummy in and she had the most wonderful time, she came out glowing and so interactive which she is not all the time at home. The activities she had been doing while she stayed we took note of and because of the incredible staff we have taken them home with us to help mummy stay happy. She is very much looking forward to going back and our end goal is to have her as a full time resident in the future. We will be only leaving mummy here when we go away. Thank you.

My father moved to Welwyn Grange from another care home when they opened in November. He was already very poorly and moved for end-of-life nursing care. He sadly passed away at the end of December but we will be forever grateful for the care, compassion and ongoing commitment from all the staff. When we visited Welwyn Grange we immediately knew that this was the place for my father. The staff that showed us around were caring, informative and supportive. We were blown away by the beautiful, spacious bedrooms and comfortable lounge areas. Once my father arrived, he was well cared for by nursing staff and carers alike, nothing was too much trouble. They were patient, kind and always available for any help we needed. Activities and entertainment took place regularly for anyone that wanted to join in, led by a wonderful entertainment coordinator, my father did a lovely piece of art that we will always treasure. The food was of an amazing standard, and impeccably served. Thank you again!

From the moment I first visited Welwyn Grange and met the manager and some of the staff, I knew this was the right place for my Dad. Having had mixed experiences at a couple of other settings, we knew this needed to be right, and have had absolutely no regrets. Not only is it a beautiful setting and spotlessly clean, everyone cares and there's a lovely sense of community. The manager, support staff, nurses, carers, chef and cleaners have all taken time to get to know Dad and to learn about him, caring for his wellbeing just as much as his health. Activities have been tailored to appeal to him as an individual as well as to the wider community. They have supported with medical appointments and liaising with the hospital. And the quality of the food far exceeds my expectations for a care home setting! As a family we feel well-informed. I can't thank the team enough for all they are doing for my Dad.

I'm a full-time carer for my husband. He has complex needs and so requires nursing care. He recently stayed at Welwyn Grange for a short period of respite. It's a beautiful brand new home with excellent facilities, including a fabulous cinema room where my husband really enjoyed watching his favourite programmes on the big screen. The spotless bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with a smart tv and en suite wet room. The food is excellent. There is an activities programme and he loved a visit from the therapy dogs during his stay. Even though the smart new building was a big draw, the main reason I chose the home was the nursing team are extra to the care numbers and I felt confident he would benefit from individual care during his stay. Communication with the home is excellent. The manager and service manager took the time to get to know us before and during the stay. Staff are kind, caring and professional. I now plan to book regular short respite stays. Thank you to the manager and the team.
