Mum has only been in the home for 2 weeks but is settling in already. She didn't think she was ready to be in a home, but has soon realised how nice it is offering her everything she needs. Hopefully she will get to know other residents over the coming months. The staff are all fantastic, friendly and helpful. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience so far.

Reply from Emma Curtain, Customer Relationship Manager at Somer Valley House

Generally a positive experience, staff very welcoming, home well cared for and clean. Occasional lapses in communication between staff noted regarding residents' condition, senior carers appear knowledgeable and capable. Overall observation is of a pleasant, warm and caring environment.

This is a lovely spacious clean home which smells homely and clean. The bedroom is so clean and attractive with a personalised door name. The bedroom is spacious too. But the best thing is the very caring and friendly staff who are so nice and kind.

From my initial contact with Somer Valley I have felt that I have been listened to and that the care of my husband really mattered. The staff member on reception was bubbly and welcoming. Another staff member who visited us put my mind at rest and all the team have shown love, care and enthusiasm for their jobs. The residents really matter and individual needs are addressed. The care home is so clean, bright and airy and is a place residents can really call home.

I have found the home, on every visit, which is 2 or 3 times a week to be spotless and immaculate. Staff, especially front of home, to be well presented, very helpful, polite, helpful, honest and kind to my dad, other residents and visitors. Food and drink is high quality and plentiful. Activities are enjoyed and varied. Well done Oyster.

We had to find some care for our Mother after she had a fall and spent some time in hospital. Our aunt was already at this facility and we decided to use the home for some respite care. Although she had to find alternative accommodation through the financial side of things, we were pleased to have used this care home for a short while as we knew she would be looked after well.

My mother who has Alzheimer's became a resident just three weeks ago. A major change for her, the transition has proven to be seamless. Staff/management have been superb in all aspects so far. Mother has settled in well and has begun to join in with other residents regards activities. We are therefore very happy with the progress thus far and would recommend the facility without reservation. Thus far!

Our family cannot praise Somer Valley House highly enough.
The Home itself is new and stylish to the point of being luxurious. Mum's en-suite room is spacious, beautifully appointed and with an extremely comfortable bed. The daily menu is varied with good options and the food is of a high quality.
Most important of all though, each and every member of staff at Somer Valley House has just been so very friendly, kind, helpful and caring towards Mum which helped her settle in initially and which has since made her feel really safe and secure.

We are very grateful for, and appreciative of, everything that the lovely people at Somer Valley House have done for Mum since she moved in back in January 2025.

Somer Valley House was just what Mum needed- kindness, empathy, attentiveness, and more, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were so welcoming and keen to make Mum's stay enjoyable. It was lovely to see her enjoying activities and being pampered by having her hair and nails done. As a family, we also felt welcomed and enjoyed cups of tea and biccies with her each time we saw her.
Contact with other professionals and ourselves was efficient and clear, we felt so confident that Mum's care was holistic. We are so very grateful.
The rooms are beautifully furnished and so stylishly as are all the other areas, mum said the bed was really comfy.

We are so grateful that things worked out so well, a huge thank you to all the staff who made it so enjoyable for Mum and also for it to be such a pleasure to visit her there.

My father is a resident here at Somer Valley, the home is brand new so obviously very very nice, the facilities are great. Room is a good size and a great size wet room. The best of this home is the staff by far, everyone I've met has had my dad's best interests at heart and they do an amazing job with him, I know how difficult he can be and nothing is too much trouble. They always make us feel welcome and know who we are there to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend as a care home for a family member. 11/10.
