Barchester Port Manor Care Home is exceptional. All the staff are amazing, very friendly and caring. The food is delicious. It is quite amazing how good my Mum is with her walking now. We are able to walk along the sea front which would not of been possible before, Tatyana and my Mum went on the fun
bike along the sea front, they laughed so much.
Barchester Port Manor Care Home enables resident to be well looked after but also have fun, it is lovely to see my Mum so happy
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for your wonderful review, its fantastic that your mum is walking better since her move to Port Manor, our walking club "The Port Manor Plodders!" as named by the Residents, is certainly lots of fun, we are blessed to have such beautiful surroundings to get out and about in from the seaside to the wonderful South Downs.
I will pass your kind words on to the team who will be thrilled.

From the moment you arrive through the door at Port Manor you are welcomed with the warmest smile and feel immediately at ease and made to feel at home. My mum has settled in so well to Port Manor, she is truly looked after in a caring and most friendly manner. The staff are a credit to this organisation,
nothing is too much trouble. The furnishings and decorations are so well thought out in residents rooms and all the other areas and I find it gives a sense of calmness. The dining facilities and food is very good and I like that we can book in for meals with mum at any time, again the staff are ready to help and help mum decide on what to choose. Christmas was a lovely experience with staff and residents making decorations and helping with making Yule Chocolate logs. I am so pleased we found this great care home and so happy mum has settled very quickly due to the expertise of the staff.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, I am so happy that as family you feel at home here, it's wonderful to know that the comfort and sense of belonging at Port Manor extends beyond the Residents. I would like to take the opportunity to leave positive feedback for the team at the care home, as our overall experience has been extremely reassuring and satisfying. From a management perspective, the home is very well run. Communication has always been clear, timely, and professional, and any questions
or concerns we have raised have been dealt with promptly and respectfully. It is evident that the management team are committed to maintaining high standards and supporting both residents and staff. The food provided is of a very good standard. There is a good variety of meals, they are well prepared, and dietary needs are clearly taken into account. Sue has been happy with the meals, which gives us great peace of mind. The range of activities available is also very good. They are well organised, inclusive, and thoughtfully planned to encourage engagement and enjoyment. These activities clearly contribute to residents' wellbeing and help create a positive atmosphere within the home.
Reply from Nancy Walford, General Manager at Barchester Port Manor Care HomeThankyou so much for taking the time to write such kind words, I will pass them on to the team who will be delighted. Hearing that you feel reassured is wonderful, your peace of mind, knowing that your mum is happy and well cared for, is so important to us.

My Mum, Suzann, has been in Port Manor care home for approximately a month now. The experience has been so very positive. She finds the environment enjoyable and welcoming, which has made the transition much easier. There are a lot of activities, outings, and interaction with the residence if they
choose to join in. The food is lovely and well prepared and presented. There are many well thought out and lovely touches, one being that I can have lunch with Mum. It feels like we have gone to a restaurant. The management team have been excellent, very professional, approachable, and clearly committed to providing a high standard of care. I am very pleased with everything at Port Manor and feel confident that my Mum is in good hands. It's been so lovely over the Christmas period.Port Manor has made it very special and welcomed the whole family to come along and be part of their celebrations. My Dad has been a resident at Port Manor from the week it opened in August 2025 and from that day forward the staff have been amazing, very supportive and friendly. They treat Dad and our family who visit him like we are family. The care Dad receives is outstanding and the staff keep us updated regularly
of his well being. I would highly recommend Port Manor if you are thinking of a short term stay or becoming a resident. They are amazing!

I came to Port Manor with my husband for a "holiday" & to see how we would like to be in a care home. This place is amazing, excellent care from the staff in all their roles, nothing is too much trouble. Food is very good, lots of opportunities to try something new! Very clean & bright surroundings!
Now we have stayed here it will be a choice of where to live when - if the time arrives! Also good for respite care.

I was reticent about going into a care home initally but my concerns were allayed when I went to stay at Port Manor for 2 weeks respite care. I have nothing but praise for the staff. All without exception were kind and caring in the extreme and my previous opinions regarding care homes were changed
immediately. I'm home now with my family and feel like I've had a two-week 5 star holiday! I will certainly be happy to return if and when the need arises. I will strongly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.564)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.564) out of 10 for Barchester Port Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for Barchester Port Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Port Manor Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
