A friend has moved into Bateman House, Uttoxeter. We were involved with the whole provess from initial visits through the admission process to taking up residence.
The tour of the home was comprehensive and all questions were answered. The admission process was very thorough and we were impressed with
how much it centred on our friend's requirements, needs and personal preferences.
Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming each time we have visited. There is a strong emphasis on providing appropriate activities for each resident. As to the property itself and the facilities I can only say wow! It would rival a 5-star hotel. The decor in the bedrooms and public areas is beautifully done. There are lots of separate areas for residents and visitors to sit including a coffee room at reception. There is also a cinema room where residents can enjoy films or competing in on-line quizzes with residents on other homes within the group.
We were very happy to assist our friend in finding such and impressive and friendly care home.

We assisted a friend on selecting and moving into Bateman House, Uttoxeter. Our first impressions were very favourable. The home is bright, modern and beautifully decorated throughout. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed and those on the ground floorr have direct access to a good sized secure
garden. The ability to move freely between inside and outside was important to our friend.
We were very pleased to see the care taken to ensure that our friends needs and wishes were thoroughly explored as part of the admission process.
Our friend was very keen to find a home where there were plenty of activities to keep them occupied throughout the day. Bateman house certainly fits the bill for this with morning, afternoon and evening activities plus external outings.
There are lots of places for the residents to get together as a group or to enjoy some quiet time for themselves and guests. The availability of a private dining room to host small gatherings with family and friends was particularly impressive.

After losing her mobility my partner needed 24hr car, she spent 4mths in a care home which was unbelievably poor. She went downhill fast.
She moved to Bateman House 2mths ago & the change as been amazing. Within 2 week the change in her was amazing she is now back to her old self happy, joining in
& enjoying life
And from my & the families point of view, we know we can leave her & she is going to get the very best care & attention at all times. Bateman House is 1st class

The staff are very welcoming. My sister is very well cared for. Food appears to be very nice. The staff work with my sister to encourage her to mix and get out, and are always there to help her.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.592)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.592) out of 10 for Bateman House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.979 for Bateman House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.979
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.613 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bateman House Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.238
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
