It's a shame as this nursing home has potential, let down by head office and certain staff as some lazy carers with the amazing decent carers leaving or picking the slack up for the terrible ones.
Activities by team poor, they do not adhere to the activity schedule, hoodwinking management. Food indistinguishable as to what meal it is, the cheapest ingredients used. Inadequate changing of residents, smelling, crying out in distress, no regular pattern of changing, it’s just as and when which doesn’t work as carers off on breaks/sat on phones. When meant to lock away items of great value, missing from residents' rooms and nothing done to rectify it.

Some carers are horrible and shout at the residents with severe Alzheimer’s and I've seen many go unfed at supper time whilst visiting and had to say they need feeding. Agency nurses do the bulk of nursing and are mostly useless, not adhering to the MAR chart, meds not crushed despite being put by GP. This went on for two years till my dad's death.

Dear Denise,as you may be aware, I have only very recently taken over as home manager. Being new in the role, my immediate focus is on ensuring that all our residents receive person-centred care that is totally tailored to their individual needs. We welcome feedback from our resident's families,...

Definitely not worth the fees that they charge.
Management are rubbish and will not deal with any complaints.
Residents not showered regularly and therefore end up with infections that could be avoided.
Lots of safeguarding issues.
1-2 Carers that are rough with the residents to the point they have had an investigation but still allowed to work with vulnerable people.
Lots of temporary staff, not enough permanent staff.
Food is awful.
The home has really gone downhill since we first arrived, and I was even told by the social worker that she wouldn't recommend my family member to come back after a hospital stay due to neglect and safeguarding issues.
The sad thing is there are about 8 careers that are amazing and very caring and if the whole home was like this and had a decent manager it could be turned around but all the good careers are leaving.

I am only talking about one floor of Heathlands but I know there are lots of complaints at the moment.

As you may be aware, I have very recently taken over as registered manager and was not at the home when your aunt was there. Excellent care is given to my dad. All the staff are very friendly always ready to help. My dad is happy in this environment as it doesn’t feel too clinical.

My wife has been at Heathlands for 1 year. The staff are very caring and friendly, my wife has dementia and her care is very challenging, I am so grateful to all the staff at Heathlands for caring for all of my wife's needs. The food is very good and always on time, which my wife enjoys. The rooms are clean and tidy. I cannot find words to thank the management and staff enough for looking after my wife.

At the present moment I have no complaints, I marked the food and drink as a three star as Mum has liquidated meals and thicker in drinks. Activities I put as don’t know as my mum can’t really get involved too much.

Do not put your loved one in this home.

Some of the staff are lazy and extremely unhelpful. If you complain you get ignored by the staff, the management does not respond to complaints and in some cases as mine and another family in the home, they evict vulnerable elderly people if you make a genuine complaint. No quilt on a 93 year old lady's bed in the middle of December. An untaken tablet found on the bed. Showered once in a month. Pad not changed regularly so every time you go in, your relative is walking around in a smelly pad. Do not pick up on health issues, like water infections. Are always short staffed and the corridors are empty a lot of the time. The lounge was taken away on one side of the building. The room was left open and not watched. Easy target for falls. Food put in front of the resident and then moved. If not eaten, little or no encouragement to eat. Activities are very minimal. They do not treat the residents with dignity and seem to forget they are people. Please rethink before you put your loved ones here.

A team of hard-working staff. The caregivers have a professional attitude all round. I have great respect for the wonderful team of nurses and extended care team for all of their efforts to take care of the patients. They have a five-star communication portal to get an understanding of the patients' day, with a daily report and tracking of the patients' activities and their wellbeing. Thank you to the team.

My husband has been at the Heathlands Care Home since December 2021. He has Parkinson’s and Bipolar which has proved a very difficult combination to care for. I have been very pleased with the care my husband has received during this time. He has a good-sized room with basic furniture. The room also has its own toilet and sink. We have been able to put up pictures and curtains and generally make it more homely for him. The staff are helpful, friendly and caring, and they have helped my husband settle well. His general health has improved a lot since he arrived in December. The nursing staff manage my husband's health well, informing me of any medical assessments or needs. My husband enjoys the activities that happen on a daily basis, especially if it is listening to music or armchair exercises. I am able to help my husband with his evening meal in his room and the food is always generous in size and varied. The office staff are very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Heathlands Care Home.

Our elderly aunt had a nasty fall and moved from rehabilitation into Heathlands Nursing Home in July this year. The manager was very supportive and helpful. The transition was really smooth and she has settled quickly into her new surroundings. Our aunt has a good-sized room with its own toilet and is very well looked after. The staff are lovely. All of our aunt’s clothes are beautifully laundered and the food is great too. Our aunt is thriving there and thinks of it as her home. All of her complex medical needs are being well managed by the home along with the weekly visit from the GP. Recently, the optician visited the home and my aunt was helped to have an eye test and choose new glasses. Overall, we are very pleased with Heathlands as a home for our aunt.

I am very satisfied with the care provided to my mother at Heathlands. The staff are very caring and she has been well looked after during the 3 years she has lived there. I have been especially grateful that she has been at Heathlands during the past 18 months especially when visiting was not possible. Knowing that the staff engage well with Mum and she is being well cared for has made a big difference to us. If I have any concerns they are always addressed straight away and whenever I leave I feel grateful that she is there being looked after.

Words are not enough to say how much love, care and dignity they gave my mum in her last weeks. In fact, my mum kept asking "why are they all treating me with so much care and love" which was great for me and my family to hear. My heartfelt thanks to all the care home workers and the lady who brought the clean laundry back to Mum and all the other carers whose names unfortunately I cannot remember but you all know who you are. The care given eased my stress and gave me time just to be with Mum and talk about the old days and have a laugh rather than having to look after her myself and not be able to give her the care the home gave her.

Thank you all so much.

On the first visit we were shown around the home without any appointment which was good - we saw it as it is. From then on it was always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere from all levels of staff from reception onwards. The cleaners and carers were always around and nurses made time to speak to us even though they were busy in their office or doing their rounds. Rooms were good and corridors were always clean with windows open, a pleasant aroma every time. I am confident that we chose the best.
