My father was a resident for six years and always expressed how he loved the place and the staff. He enjoyed joining in with all the activities and outings. The food was good, as evidenced by ourselves attending garden parties and Christmas dinners. The care was excellent throughout the six years, and during his end of life care, both he and I were treated with the utmost respect and dignity by the manager and all of his team.

Reply from Ronniel Alarilla, Home Manager at Heathlands Care Home

Dear Ian, many thanks for your kind words. We are so pleased that you are satisfied with your father’s care throughout the six years he was with us, and especially at the end of his life. It was a pleasure and a privilege to care for him. We remember how much he enjoyed the activities and all the...

My mum had been at Heathlands for a year when she received end of life care. As always the staff were there to support both of us. She was kept beautifully clean and comfortable throughout, with a nurse continuously monitoring her. At the end, I was staying overnight and the staff always made sure I was comfortable. When the end came the night nurse was exceptional, initally supporting me and carrying out checks.
From my first visit, I knew it was where I wanted Mum to be. It was very clean with none of the 'care home smells' I had experienced at other homes. The manager was, and continued to be, very approachable and supportive.
The care team were always happy, joking with Mum and sitting having a cup of tea with her, she was always called by her name and talked to quietly and calmly.
The personal care she received was outstanding, always being clean and wearing clean clothes with her hair brushed, and being made comfortable.

At all times she was treated with kindness and dignity.

Many thanks for your kind review. It was a privilege to care for your mum and we are so pleased that you felt satisfied with how we looked after her, especially at the end of her life. She was a lovely lady with a fantastic sense of humour who always enjoyed a joke! She is much missed here at Heathlands. We all wish you and your family all the best for the future.

I placed my mother for a respite and she was well taken care of. When I called her every day, she constantly expressed to me the tender care that she was experiencing. I would place my mother here again. The manager took the time to speak to me in the depth of what my mother's needs were, and they will be met. He and his staff never disappoint me. A real nice place that takes a professional, caring attitude.

Many thanks for your kind review. We’re delighted that you feel so satisfied with your mother’s care and that you feel that you were kept fully informed about your mother’s needs and treatment. We enjoyed looking after her while she was here and miss her now that she’s gone home. She is welcome for respite care here at any time!

My mother came into the care home on 21st April 2020 straight from the hospital. It was an extremely challenging time and not only did the manager and staff find time for my worries and concerns, they went above and beyond what we could have expected. I have full time cared for my mother in the past so completely understand the problems that arise with COVID-19.

My brother has been resident in Heathlands only since 14 July 2020. I visited him in his room on 15 July and again yesterday on 5 August in the lounge and garden for one hour. On both occasions, I was properly kitted out with PPE. COVID-19 has severely restricted visits, so I cannot comment on all the options below. In my short and limited experience, I have found everyone and everything to be extremely reassuring. All the staff I have met have been professional, caring and friendly. Given his condition, my brother is mostly content. On the phone, and in person, I have been given kind and unhurried attention to discuss any concerns. I know my brother is in an excellent place.

My son was on palliative care when admitted. He was well looked after, although, his various disabilities made care very difficult. The staff and management were excellent, very supportive and proactive, and I thank them sincerely. I certainly would recommend the home without reservation.

Just to express how much Heathlands care home has changed for the better especially with the leadership and clinical leads.
My mother is well cared for and the carers and nurses on her unit really put my mind at ease when I'm not there.
Whilst visiting my Mum, regularly I see how attentive the carers are and they know Mum's favourite things, Mum can be very difficult at times but the carers especially a regular few who Mum really likes.
This home in the last 12 months has been well led and makes such a difference.

I can approach them anytime and things are dealt with very promptly.

Although my father was only 7 days in Heathlands before he passed away on the last day of January, he had excellent care during that time. The staff were very efficient, kind and above all, he was treated with respect.

I don't think you could ask for anything more. I would most certainly recommend Heathlands.

My very good friend arrived at Heathlands in July 2017 and stayed there until he passed away in January 2019. At first, there were lots of staff changes and temporary staff but the new director worked very hard at improving the services. The caring staff have been superb and very supportive of both my friend and myself, including in the last few weeks. And I know that my friend has been happy there. A big food lover, he loved his meals there and even gained weight and the food still looked appetising even when it needed to be pureed. The whole home, including the rooms, always smelled clean and fresh. My only disappointment was regarding activities. They seemed good for mobile residents but not so great for those with mobility problems. And I wish my friend had been taken outside from time to time to a nearby park or even just to the garden. So some improvements still need to be made but I would nevertheless recommend this place as a lovely home to be in.

My mother came to the care home in September 2018. Since being at Heathlands her appetite had improved and she became more alert and happier. When I first came to the home on my mother's admission, I was pleasantly welcomed and greeted by the deputy manager and everything was explained to me and I was able to ask questions about my mums care. The place smelt lovely and was and is very clean. My mother is well known to the staff on her floor and they have a good rapport with each other. I would definitely recommend this care home.

My partner entered Healthlands for palliative care die to terminal cancer. We were welcomed into the home by nurses, carers and management.

We also have a nine-year-old son who has also been welcomed with open arms. Heathland, in my opinion, is a fantastic, great staff who are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. Food is great and very delicious. Rooms are very comfortable and homely.

My Dad was a resident at Heathlands after a direct transfer from the hospital. Knowing that your Dad is going to die is the hardest thing to comprehend. However, meeting a member of staff who reassured us that Dad will be in good hands, well she was true to her word. Cannot express my gratitude to her, all sister and the nurses, even the chef were amazing. God bless such an amazing care home.
