The experiences I have had with the Carlyle Suite and the staff have been excellent at all times. The facilities are first class and the staff are as good as it gets. They always go above and beyond the call of duty. They are very pleasant with visitors and care for the residents very well at all times.
Thank you very much for your kind review. You have been a consistent supporter to the unit and this is very much appreciated. It is, as always, our privilege and pleasure to care for your dear partner.
My Dad moved to Lanercost recently and me & my sister would like to say we were impressed with the overall service. The staff are all friendly and professional and seem to take great care of the residents. My Dad is well looked after and seems to be more alert and happier since moving here. We have noticed a vast improvement in his mood and communication skills in the short time he has been there. The rooms and bathrooms are all nicely decorated and kept lovely and clean. The common areas are nice and bright and the staff are very welcoming. We would just like to thank you all for doing a fantastic job.
Thank you so much for your kind response. We are so pleased that your dad has settled well and are delighted that he has come to join our community.

They all make you feel welcome when visiting the carly suite, the staff take the time to talk to you and also pass any information to you,l feel very much at ease with him being in there. Which is very good l don't have to make appointments to visit my dad and very happy with the team, you all doing a brilliant job.

Our experience at Barchester Lanercost House - Carlyle Suite has been exceptional. The staff are so caring and kind to my mother and all residents. This is the fourth care home, by far the best home she's been in. Couldn't ask for more.

My father moved to Lanercost House Carlyle Suite last year from another care home. Over the time he has been at the Carlyle Suite he has started to take part in the activities the staff provide. He is also calmer and enjoys having a laugh with the staff. I have seen that the staff at the Carlyle Suite take time to speak and interact with him and others in the home. They also treat him with dignity. This has relaxed my father who now likes being at the home and speaking with the staff.

The window visits we have had, the staff have really made us feel good about the visits. At first, I was a bit nervous and unsure about seeing Mam through a window, but they have been good and welcoming.

Excellent visit assisted by excellent staff. Only issue from home manager was when I took 2 dogs for window visit. I was told that the dogs were not allowed as they had been COVID free for so long and there will be other residents outside (12 metres away) which there were not!

Meet the Team (14)

My name is Janette Lawrence and I am the General Manager here at Lanercost House.
I have many years of nursing and management experience and work hard with my team to provide a kind, caring and comfortable environment for our Residents.
We pride ourselves in taking forward the values of Barchester Healthcare when planning the holistic needs of our Residents and welcome families to be part of this process.
I operate an open door policy, so please feel at ease to call in for a chat with either myself or one of the Team if there is anything you would like to discuss.

Hi, my name is Colin and I am the Deputy Manager at Lanercost House.
I joined the team in August 2023 having worked in both nursing and management roles for over 20 years.
I am delighted to bring my experience to a staff group that demonstrates their passion and caring to all who have contact with the home.
For me, everyone has their own story to tell, and their own difficulties to overcome and what we strive for here at Lanercost House is listening to your story and supporting you with your difficulties so you can live life to the fullest.
I hope you take the opportunity to come and see what we do here, the door is always open.

My name is Tracy. I am the Head of Unit of The Carlyle Suite.
Before commencing my nurse training, I worked as a care assistant in a nursing home in Weston-super-Mare. It was here that I found my passion for caring for the elderly and, after several years of working as a carer, I applied for my nursing job.
I commenced my RGN training way back in 1990 in Bristol, thirty-six years ago! Our cohort was one of the first Project 2000 intakes, for those of you old enough to remember Project 2000.
Six years ago, I made the leap from the NHS into the private sector, where I worked as the deputy manager in another local care home and, for the last three years, was the Home manager of that home.
In my spare time, I spend time with my family, my dog and my horse!
I look forward to meeting you all and am always available for a chat on how we can support your loved one!

Hello, my name is Kaye, and I am the resident ambassador of Lanercost House Care Home.
I have been living at Lanercost House since 2016 after having suffered from a stroke, which left me bedbound and unable to talk. Since then, I have been getting around in an electric wheelchair and am working on re-learning how to walk.
I cannot talk; however, I use my own sign language and hand movements to communicate. I often like to greet visitors as they enter the home and show off my artwork, which I am very proud of.
In 2025, I won the Care Awards as National Resident Ambassador of the Year. I am very proud of this achievement and may show off my Star badge and photo to you.
I am very passionate about all things fashion and beauty and love seeing people's outfits and complimenting them.
Overall, I look forward to meeting new people and getting to welcome them to Lanercost.

Hi, my name is Becky, and I am the Administrator here at Lanercost House.
I have worked in Administration for many years, including with the NHS. I love the variety in the role, meeting our Residents and their families and supporting them through the process of moving into our home.
It is a pleasure to work here and be part of the Lanercost family. We all work together to provide our Residents with a wonderful life.
I operate an open-door approach, so please feel free to pop into my office for a chat!

Hi, my name is Sadia, and I am the Administration Assistant at Lanercost House. I joined the Admin team at Lanercost in 2024 after having previously worked in retail.
My favourite part of the job is meeting new people and enquirers and showing them around our beautiful home. I am always available at Reception for a chat and will always try my hardest to answer any questions any enquirers, visitors, residents, or staff may have.
Outside of work, I spend time with my three cats, Maya, Moon and Mochi, who are all black and white cats and love causing chaos!
Overall, I will always ensure that you receive the warmest of welcomes to Lanercost House.

Hi, I'm Alan, Senior Head of Maintenance at Lanercost House.
My role is paramount when it comes to our Residents, Relatives and Colleagues. I am responsible for ensuring the home environment is of the highest standards possible, ultimately creating a safe and warm place for Residents to live and for my Colleagues to work.
I re-joined Lanercost House in January 2023 after previously being part of the team since 2003. I value being part of Barchester Healthcare, and I am pleased I have been able to find my way back to working here at Lanercost.

Hi, my name is Sean, and I am the head chef at Lanercost House. I started working here in 2026 and have enjoyed making delicious, nutritious meals for our residents. My favourite part of the job is meeting and greeting the residents and helping them decide what they want for their meal. I am always more than happy to whip up the residents’ meal of their choice if they don’t want anything off the menu.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy working in the Kitchen and leading the hospitality team. I have always worked in catering, with previous experience in Restaurants and Hotels.
I look forward to meeting your loved ones and cannot wait to get to know them!

Hello, I'm Diane, and I am a Kitchen Assistant here at Lanercost House.
I joined Lanercost in January 2022. I love my job and want to do my best for the Residents every day. I particularly enjoy interacting with them and enriching their lives through companionship.
In my spare time, I volunteer at school and community clubs, as well as keeping busy looking after my niece, and, when time allows in my busy schedule, I also enjoy whipping up a storm in the kitchen.

I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!

Hi, I’m Duncan, I work as part of the Activities Team here at Lanercost House.
I joined Lanercost in 2023 after taking early retirement from my career in banking as a financial advisor. I did take a few holidays in between, but the drive to want to work and make a difference brought me back to employment and I now enjoy working three days a week, doing something I love. Putting a smile on the faces of the Residents and enriching their lives through meaningful activities and interactions is the most rewarding feeling.
I am kept busy outside of work looking after my young grandson, and leisurely I enjoy good food and am an avid Newcastle United supporter!

My name is Joy and I started working for Barchester in 1994 as a Care Assistant and eventually took on the position of Senior Carer. I obtained my NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care and an opportunity arose to move into a Physiotherapy Assistant role, which really appealed to me, as I feel it gives me hands-on experience and allows me lots of one-to-one time with residents.

Hi, my name is Gergana, but you can call me Geri!
I am the Head Housekeeper of Lanercost House and Carlyle Suite. I have previously worked with Lanercost as a housekeeper and then, after a short break, came back. I then returned to Lanercost in 2024 as a housekeeping assistant.
As part of my job, day-to-day, I ensure the home environment and residents' rooms are looking clean and presentable. I am a perfectionist, so I ensure everything is perfect. I ensure that laundry is done to a high standard and that residents' clothes are well taken care of.
In my spare time, I enjoy baking and spending time with my children.

Hi, my name is Jo, and I am the Food and Beverage Assistant here at Lanercost House. I have been working here since 2015.
My Job is to help out in the Kitchen, set up the bistro, and set all the dining rooms up ready for the residents' meals.
My favourite part of the job is speaking to residents and families and getting to know them better. I also enjoy getting to set up for parties and events, creating memorable moments for residents and their families and friends. My role allows me to get to know residents individually and find ways to help them settle in and feel comfortable.
At home, I have 2 dogs, and I enjoy spotting wildlife and doing crafts.
