My mum has lived at Park View for over 4 years now. She is well looked after by a group of caring and efficient staff members. They know mum's likes and dislikes and make sure she is as happy and settled as possible, her dementia sometimes making her feel worried or unsure about everything! If any queries
or problems arise they are always willing to listen to me and sort things out quickly without any fuss. Although mum doesn't join in much with other residents, staff, including the activities staff, do spend 1-1 time with her. Although I see mum nearly every day I know I can go away for short holidays in the knowledge that she will be safe and well cared for.

My dad has been in Park View for about a year now and we receive constant feedback from the staff and management about his day to day needs and care.

The staff are all very friendly and always make me and the kids welcome when we visit providing drinks snacks and when the occasional sweets to keep

the kids occupied, very nice.

My parents moved from an extra care home at Great Park to Park View in April 2017 due to my Fathers dementia, during the move the entire team from Park View went out of their way to welcome my parents and help them settle in. The whole team are extremely caring, treating my parents with dignity along
with some fun and creating a very relaxed atmosphere. The food provided is very good and both my Sister and I can dine with our parents for a small fee.

There are three activities ladies who plan daily activities with entertainers and exercise therapy, every month they take several residents out for lunch and entertainment at a nearby club.

There is a beautiful garden where residents can relax. In fact not long after moving in, my Mothers Budgie died, the staff were very supportive and allowed me to bury the bird in the garden and planted some lavender plants on the plot. This meant so much to my Mother allowing her pet of many years to be buried with dignity.

A really great home.

My parents moved into Park View in April 2017 and from our initial approach to date we have experienced nothing but friendly professionalism from all involved. All staff did everything they could to reassure us as a family making them very welcome. The standard of care since from all the staff has proven
impeccable.

They both participate in a varied programme of activities both together and individually, as well as spending time together.

The range of activities is frequent and varied including outings, and the activities coordinators are very enthusiastic, friendly girls who whilst encouraging the residents to participate, respect their refusals. Having dedicated activities co-ordinators is a huge plus and one of the many reasons we wanted to secure these residencies.

Since moving in we have been promptly informed of a few health issues. They have arranged health professional visits for them and are vigilant to ensure all medications are dispensed and taken.

My mother has been a resident at Park View Care home for the last 9 months, she is suffering from dementia, but is enjoying life, thanks to the wonderful staff and homely caring feel within the home. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone finding themselves in need of such a place
for a loved one.

I have found the staff are very good with my Mam and they have kept me up to date with any problems that have occurred with her. She has dementia and Alzheimer's and they have shown me how to treat and how to handle my Mam as I have not had to deal with anything like this before. The staff are angels
and really deserve a medal for what they have to deal with. Excellent service with excellent staff. Could not be any happier with her care.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.733)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.733) out of 10 for Park View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.495 for Park View is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.495
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.238 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.538
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Lisa started work in social care at the age of 16 and has worked in several different areas over the years. Well over 20 years later this is still her passion. Lisa joined St Martins Care in 2011 and is another example of the potential to progress a successful career within the Company. Lisa has big plans for developing Park View care home even further, explaining, "At Park View the residents are always at the forefront of what we do. We are a home from home and have made great changes to achieve this such as our bar, train simulator and shop. Our aim is to bring as much fulfilment and independence to those we have the pleasure to care for and support. I am looking forward to what the future can bring."

Amy

Amy Dowell

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2016

Amy began working in care in 2015. From the beginning with no care experience, she spent a year out in the community and realised that caring for those in need had quickly become a passion and something that she wanted to do as a career. Amy decided to move into a residential setting and joined St Martins Care at its Park View care home and she has not looked back since. Amy’s first role was as a care assistant. Staring with no qualifications, she was supported by St Martins Care and soon obtained her NVQ Level 2. Straight away, Amy began studying for her NVQ Level 3, which has enabled her to progress in her career quickly. Amy says: “I always knew that I wanted to achieve more. I’m so pleased that my skills and ambitions were recognised and that I was able to progress, firstly as an acting senior before being promoted to senior care assistant. Being able to make a difference in the lives of those who require 24-hour support and even re-enabling those to return home is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do”. Amy is now the deputy manager of Park View and she is grateful to have been given this opportunity. Amy adds: “The whole team at Park View is fantastic and we are one big family, with the residents being at the heart of it. I am proud to be part of St Martins Care and look forward to what the future brings for us at Park View”.
