I just want to say thank you to all the staff at the Manor. My husband died on 9-5-2026. We were shown so much love and care. He had suffered a great deal but the staff cared so much for him. In his final hours he was treated with love and respect. They helped me through his death, and the staff looked after all my family. I can never thank them enough, they all went above and beyond. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

My Mother moved here and ever since she arrived I cannot fault any of the staff. Everyone here is friendly kind, and give the residents care second to none. Not to mention there is also a hairdresser, who comes in. Along with someone to trim toe nails and not forgetting church people to give communion. Which could not be any better for my Mother.

I am so grateful to this care home for providing actual proper care to my mum who passed away in April. After a less from happy experience at a care home, my mum was placed on the EMI floor in 2025 and though she wasn't always the easiest of residents she forged good & healthy relationships with her main carers. Her room was kept immaculately and me and my dad were always met with a smile and warmth. Thank you Dave, Donna et al for making her last year a lot less brutal than it might have been - I'll never forget your kindnesses.

My mam has advanced dementia and went into Washington Manor when she was very agitated, worried, and frightened, within a few days she is a different person. She wants to be there, is now very calm and relaxed as she is around staff who are amazing.
We were so worried about making the step but with the care taken by Washington Manor it's been the best thing for mam and us.

Thank you

I have just moved my dad from here. He has Parkinsons with time critical medication. They have run out of this medication on one occasion and it took my dad to alert them he had missed a dose...to be told we have none. He missed 2 doses and had severe tremors and slurred speech. Other times it was late, one time 3 hours late. There is a 15 minute window before side effects can be felt. There was a serious lack of medicine knowledge with one Senior in particular. Nobody asked my dad if he wanted to leave his room and I have been there when food put in front of him without a single word being spoke. Obviously, some staff were notblike this. However, security was a concern as visitors are given the number for the front door to get in and out! Dad was also on a fluid restriction and once again this was not properly monitored by certain staff.

Expense overall very polite, the care staff are mostly very approachable and extremely caring and dedicated to providing excellent care/interventions to residents. Manager is also approachable and wants the best for all who reside in the unit. There is room for improvement when it comes to residents' belongings and clothing. I don't believe that it is correct for an individual's personal bathing/toiletries to be used on other residents when these are provided by family, and that all residents should be dressed in their own clothing.

Reply from Cassie Schofield, Business Support Manager at Windermere Grange

- my father Lost vision in his left eye on Sat 23rd, I called Care Home Reception to investigate and call ambulance. Duty manager - Kim, after investigating the condition and allegedly consulting it medics over a phone, informed me that my father didn't show symptoms of a stroke and eye would have to be investigated on the next day and only if member of family can take my father to the hospital. On the next day my niece took my father to the hospital and after examination we learnt that my father lost vision in left eye due to mini stroke. We were also informed it was a permanent loss and only immediate treatment after loosing vision might have saved his eyesight. I have spoken with deputy manager about this incident. As I understood this case was going to be further investigated and I am currently looking forward to the outcome of this investigation.

- in addition my father is suffering from diabetes, despite of this he is regularly given sugary snacks(chocolate bars).

Reply from Cassie Schofield, Business Support Manager at Washington Manor

Review of Windermere Grange from Kath M (Mother of Resident) published on 16 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My daughter is in the LD care section Coniston/Ullswater. She has been here a little over a year now. It was the most devastating day of my life when I was told she would now need 24 hr care in a home. However I now realise it was the best decision for her. The staff are amazing lead by an equally amazing Manager. The home is clean, light & airy. - the staff are hard working, friendly and most of all have a very caring attitude towards their residents. I no longer worry as much about my daughter as I know she is happy, healthy and well cared for which is all I can ask for. I can visit/bring her home whenever I want to. There are always activities going on which is fantastic as she is very active - loves music and dancing so it suits her very well. She has been on 2 holidays with them as well.

I would recommend Windermere to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones. Outstanding !!

Came to Washington Manor to celebrate my auntie's birthday. We took cakes, and the staff/carers were so welcoming. The catering staff totally spoiled us with an amazing cheese board, scones and tea. It helped us to celebrate the special event. It was amazing. Staff are brilliant here—relaxing environment, so comfortable to visit. Can't thank the carers and caterers enough. Great experience. Washington Manor care is really supporting my aunt very well. The staff take a real interest and help her to adapt to her changing condition, as many distressing symptoms develop. The attention and concern for her wellbeing is lovely, and I must say the food and catering in Washington Manor is excellent. A beautiful spread was produced for my aunt's birthday, which was very much appreciated and made to feel special. Thank you.

I would like to understand why I a male adult who has full capacity am still in bed at 10:55 am? Despite several calls to staff and management I am being ignored, whilst other patients without any capacity are being showered. Priority surely should be made to those that have the mental capacity to enjoy their day, however because I am still being ignored in bed I am getting understandably stressed.

We are always balancing needs and priorities and are fully committed to being proactive and responsive. We support a wide range of people with long term conditions and cognitive impairments and they are all equally important. My father in law was in Willow Green for the last few weeks of his life and I can't express how happy we were with his care. The staff were patient, kind, gentle and kept his spirits up when he was down. They were also amazing with our whole family, they were supportive and kind and were especially caring with my mother in law. I can't thank the staff enough for all they did and for making his last few weeks comfortable and stress free. Anyone who requires care would be lucky to be a resident in Willow Green.

The care home is one of the best I have been in. Plenty of food, very caring staff and the building is well maintained. Residents' well-being is very good. If you need to talk to someone with regards your relative, the management are always there to help. The only thing I think is needed is more entertainment.

The manager and staff of chestnut suite do a great job of caring for the residents, the go above and beyond to help them and us, it's not an easy job due to the various natures of disability in the home and the knock on affect of behaviour but they do amazing.
