- my father Lost vision in his left eye on Sat 23rd, I called Care Home Reception to investigate and call ambulance. Duty manager - Kim, after investigating the condition and allegedly consulting it medics over a phone, informed me that my father didn't show symptoms of a stroke and eye would have
to be investigated on the next day and only if member of family can take my father to the hospital. On the next day my niece took my father to the hospital and after examination we learnt that my father lost vision in left eye due to mini stroke. We were also informed it was a permanent loss and only immediate treatment after loosing vision might have saved his eyesight. I have spoken with deputy manager about this incident. As I understood this case was going to be further investigated and I am currently looking forward to the outcome of this investigation.
- in addition my father is suffering from diabetes, despite of this he is regularly given sugary snacks(chocolate bars).
Reply from Cassie Schofield, Business Support Manager at Washington ManorThank you for your comments regarding the care of your father at Washington Manor following concerns relating to loss of vision, this must have been very distressing. We just want to reassure you that the correct process has been followed, observations were immediately taken, which were all within normal parameters and Recovery at Home were contacted for further advice. We followed their instruction and an appointment was made at the eye hospital for the next day. We have liaised with the GP and community matron and the team have acted promptly and followed all procedures. The management team will be in touch with you to share the outcome of their investigation in more detail.
Reply from Cassie Schofield, Business Support Manager at Washington ManorThank you for your kind review, we are happy to hear the food was amazing and that the staff were excellent.

Came to Washington Manor to celebrate my auntie's birthday. We took cakes, and the staff/carers were so welcoming. The catering staff totally spoiled us with an amazing cheese board, scones and tea. It helped us to celebrate the special event. It was amazing. Staff are brilliant here—relaxing environment,
so comfortable to visit. Can't thank the carers and caterers enough. Great experience. Very happy my auntie is here.

Washington Manor care is really supporting my aunt very well. The staff take a real interest and help her to adapt to her changing condition, as many distressing symptoms develop. The attention and concern for her wellbeing is lovely, and I must say the food and catering in Washington Manor is excellent.
A beautiful spread was produced for my aunt's birthday, which was very much appreciated and made to feel special. Thank you.

The care home is one of the best I have been in. Plenty of food, very caring staff and the building is well maintained. Residents' well-being is very good. If you need to talk to someone with regards your relative, the management are always there to help. The only thing I think is needed is more entertainment.

My mother has been a dementia resident for over a year now and is very well cared for at Washington Manor. The staff are brilliant with her in every way and her quality of life is much better than it was. She has gained weight from eating better food on a more regular basis and takes her medication
without putting her tablets aside or hiding them. Her room has been personalised with her photo frames & a clock and she is very comfortable there. The staff are also great with myself as the effects of my mother's dementia have been difficult at times, coupled with my dad's passing and without exception, all of the personnel have been so very supportive. Before Washington Manor her social worker first placed her in another care home which was poor in comparison to Washington Manor and moving her here was the best decision. I would highly recommend St Martins Care to anyone looking for a care home.

I can't praise the senior care staff and care staff enough for the end of life care my aunt received at Park View, after a terrible time she had at a previous care home. The care home manager went above and beyond and was a credit to her profession. I would like to thank all at Park View.

The best care home my husband has been in. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. My husband enjoyed his respite here. The home is lovely and clean. I didn't worry about my husband being there as I knew he was being well cared for. Hopefully in the future I can get a respite place here again. My
mind was put at rest him staying there. I can't praise the staff enough they were brilliant.

NO CHANGE.
I visited my father on Saturday, just as his lunch was arriving. His meal was given to him uncut (it was a pie) and with normal cutlery rather than the specialist ones he needs. I got the food cut up and the correct utensils were provided after I asked! No one offered to help him with his
meal, I did it. That's fine but what is happening when there is no one there? My previous Saturday visit 3 weeks ago was the exact same scenario. I am horrified to see that my previous review was saying the same things. I am always told that the staff have been instructed to help him yet I never see this happen. If he cannot manage his meal he will not ask for help he just says he is not hungry, so he has nothing. I understand that most of the staff at the weekends are agency staff but they should still be instructed what to do and monitored to see that they are doing it!
Reply from Cassie Schofield, Head Office Admin at Washington ManorThank you for your feedback regarding your observation of your Dad's mealtime experience and we apologise for any distress this may have caused. We have asked the onsite management team to meet with you to go through your Dad's care and support needs to ensure that we are supporting him in line with his personal preferences. We always ask that no visitor leaves our care home feeling anxious or concerned about the care and support provided to their loved one and actively encourage them to speak with the management team as we can usually provide immediate reassurance and take quick action. If the visit is out of hours they can ask for the on call manager to contact them directly. We are delighted to report that recruitment at Washington Manor is going well, significantly reducing our agency use and ensuring we are providing continuity of care to everyone we support.

Very friendly staff, maybe a bit better communication when passing on information from family. Rooms could do with a bit more frequent cleaning, as a family member on visiting our mam have noticed very little crockery and utensils for visitors to make a drink but overall, mam is very happy and content
and the staff treat her with love and respect.
Reply from Cassie Schofield, Head Office Admin at Park ViewThank you for your feedback and we are so happy your mum is settled and well cared for at Park View. Thank you for the lovely comments about the staff team and we will ensure this is shared. We are always working to improve communication and take your feedback onboard and we are always replenishing crockery and cutlery but will ensure that stock levels are checked more frequently to prevent this from happening again.
