The care home has spacious bedrooms that are fully furnished with en-suite facilities, several have Juliet balconies overlooking the gardens. There are comfortable communal lounges with space to chat to friends or more privately with family. There are easily accessible bathing and shower rooms with specialist equipment and lift access on each floor. Spacious dining rooms with the facilities for families to make their own refreshments and beautifully presented gardens.
The kitchen produces delicious home cooked traditional food and additional menu choices. There is unlimited free Wi-Fi internet access. Specialist equipment can be provided after appropriate assessment. A full laundry service is provided. Thank you for your comments regarding the care of your father at Washington Manor following concerns relating to loss of vision, this must have been very distressing. We just want to reassure you that the correct process has been followed, observations were immediately taken, which were all within normal parameters and Recovery at Home were contacted for further advice. We followed their instruction and an appointment was made at the eye hospital for the next day. We have liaised with the GP and community matron and the team have acted promptly and followed all procedures. The management team will be in touch with you to share the outcome of their investigation in more detail.

My mother has been a dementia resident for over a year now and is very well cared for at Washington Manor. The staff are brilliant with her in every way and her quality of life is much better than it was. She has gained weight from eating better food on a more regular basis and takes her medication without putting her tablets aside or hiding them. Her room has been personalised with her photo frames & a clock and she is very comfortable there. The staff are also great with myself as the effects of my mother's dementia have been difficult at times, coupled with my dad's passing and without exception, all of the personnel have been so very supportive. Before Washington Manor her social worker first placed her in another care home which was poor in comparison to Washington Manor and moving her here was the best decision. I would highly recommend St Martins Care to anyone looking for a care home.

I visited my father on Saturday, just as his lunch was arriving. His meal was given to him uncut (it was a pie) and with normal cutlery rather than the specialist ones he needs. I got the food cut up and the correct utensils were provided after I asked! No one offered to help him with his meal, I did it. That's fine but what is happening when there is no one there? My previous Saturday visit 3 weeks ago was the exact same scenario. I am horrified to see that my previous review was saying the same things. I am always told that the staff have been instructed to help him yet I never see this happen. If he cannot manage his meal he will not ask for help he just says he is not hungry, so he has nothing. I understand that most of the staff at the weekends are agency staff but they should still be instructed what to do and monitored to see that they are doing it!

We have asked the onsite management team to meet with you to go through your Dad's care and support needs to ensure that we are supporting him in line with his personal preferences. We always ask that no visitor leaves our care home feeling anxious or concerned about the care and support provided to their loved one and actively encourage them to speak with the management team as we can usually provide immediate reassurance and take quick action. If the visit is out of hours they can ask for the on call manager to contact them directly. We are delighted to report that recruitment at Washington Manor is going well, significantly reducing our agency use and ensuring we are providing continuity of care to everyone we support.

My mam went into Washington Manor in May 2024. Since then the difference in her is brilliant. The staff and management are 100% attentive in every aspect of the role. The overall care given to my mam is brilliant. So pleased she is being looked after by the manager and her team.

Washington Manor, avoid! I'm disgusted. I've complained to the care home, Adult Social Services, and Care Quality Commission. Concerns included poor infection control procedures. I saw a staff member pour water into the same beaker used to give medicine to everyone in my dad's corridor. My wife saw...
No records exist for applying dad's cream after 1st May. I raised concerns about personal hygiene. Records show dad was showered 3 times in February, two times in March, and none in April! His clothes were frequently dirty and unchanged for days including socks and underwear. I was disgusted they claimed my complaint was motivated by money when I was told my dad would have to pay for another four weeks as I removed him with 1 days' notice. This makes no sense as I was offered a fee free month if I kept him there. He now looks cleaner, healthier, and stimulated in his new care home.

The records show that support was provided every day with washing and dressing and often the resident would dress independently which is so important to maintain and encourage positive mental health and well-being. The records also show an individual who was enabled and supported to maintain a good diet, encouraged to maintain independent living skills and participate in activities that had meaning and interest to him. We apologised for the error with the beaker and that the records did not always reflect our standards. We refute claims that a free month was offered as this is not our policy. A contract was signed that clearly stated 4 weeks' notice to be given by either party but as you have been informed we will not be chasing this debt. We wish your father well for the future and are happy he has settled in his new home.

From a young age, Helen cared for her dad. This gave her a real passion for caring, so much so that she knew straight away that she wanted to work in care. Helen completed her NVQ level 2 and 3 in school in 2013 and, after that, she worked in several jobs before going to college. In 2016 she had her daughter who is now 7 years old. Helen then returned to work and undertook roles in the community as a carer, something that she really enjoyed. During COVID, Helen chose to take some time out to look after her daughter before deciding to get back into work and joined the team at Washington Manor as a part-time care assistant. She soon realised that she absolutely loved working at Washington Manor and after a few months was promoted into a full-time senior care assistant role. After excelling in that role, Helen was promoted to Deputy Manager and, in January 2025, to the Registered Manager. Helen is really looking forward to taking on the role and new responsibilities. Helen is the perfect example of how someone with the right skills, attitude and determination can progress and develop their career at St Martins Care and she is committed to make a difference to the lives of all the residents of Washington Manor.

Angela has been working in the care sector for over 20 years. She joined the team at Washington Manor in October 2020, starting as a care assistant and was very quickly promoted to senior care assistant. Angela has completed her NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and has recently completed her Moving and Handling Train the Trainer course meaning she can train all her colleagues within the care home.Angela really enjoys supporting the Senior Care Team with the online systems the company uses to deliver excellent care, such as PCS for care records and Camascope for medication management. Angela was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2025, and says that she is really looking forward to the opportunity to learn new skills and to putting her 20+ years’ experience into practice. “I am looking forward to supporting the team and ensuring our residents receive the very best care.”
