Overall Experience
Moving my mum into a care home was unavoidable and extremely daunting but the staff at Capel Grange made the process as easy as they could. My mum is well looked after and the staff are warm and welcoming and willing to go the extra mile to find out information or assist you. The staff ratio is high, Capel make a huge effort with resident activities and have kept up family communication throughout the pandemic.
My mum has a good rapport with the staff and they are a happy smiling team, who seem to have good relationships with the residents they care for. The building is purpose-built and spotlessly clean and well decorated.
I feel Capel Grange offer a high standard of care, and although choosing a care home is a very personal decision I would have no hesitation in recommending Capel Grange.

Thanks to the whole team - it's been a comfort to me to know my mum has been so well looked after in these difficult circumstances.

Reply from Edgar Bautista, Home Manager at Capel Grange

Thank you, Victoria, for your kind words. I know that it was a difficult decision for you to move your mum to a care home and we are all pleased to know that we were able to assist your mum and yourself during this difficult period.

Overall Experience

My grandmother has been at Capel Grange for a few years and has been looked after brilliantly. The staff are very experienced, caring and so very supportive - both for my nan and us as a family. The real test came during Covid where the level of care has remained constant and during the period when we couldn't visit Nan, video calls were scheduled allowing us the opportunity to see and speak to her. The home has remained Covid free and regular tests have been conducted with clear and regular communications to families. More recently pod and indoor visits have commenced where it is clear that Nan has been brilliantly cared for and is content. I cannot recommend this home highly enough - they are superheroes as far as we are concerned. I know the sacrifices during the pandemic that staff made to ensure residents were prioritised and for that, we are eternally grateful. Thank you for everything Capel Grange.

My dad resided at Capel Grange from September 2020 to February 2021, when he sadly passed away.
Due to the pandemic this was an extremely challenging time but the staff who looked after Dad were amazing. The staff were always helpful, friendly and professional.

When we were able to visit the home it always seemed really clean and a nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Capel Grange to anyone making the difficult decision to put a loved one in a care home.

Mum became a resident of Capel Grange during lockdown in October 2020 after her previous home had to close. We had been very happy at that previous home and it was therefore with some trepidation that we moved her to Capel Grange in October. As a family we are delighted that Capel Grange, in particular the staff, have exceeded our expectations in all regards, despite the obvious difficulties presented by a move during lockdown. Mum has settled in very well, despite the fact that we have been unable to have any physical contact with her until very recently, and it is clear Mum is very comfortable with all staff and they all have great respect for her. All aspects of the home from her room, the communal facilities through to the staff all deserve 5 stars for their caring and thoughtful dealings with a new family who have not had the opportunity to be close to their most loved Mum. Couldn’t recommend Capel Grange more highly.

I felt very confident that my father would be well cared for in Capel Grange having read reviews and the CIW report. The staff were helpful, friendly and very professional. They kept in contact with me about my father's health and also if he needed anything.
Having worked for over 30 years in the care sector, I feel I am able to comment on the standards of care and ethos of the nursing home. I felt able to entrust my father to the care of their dedicated team of staff.

Sadly my father passed away and is now at peace.

My Mum was extremely happy and content at Capel Grange. The care she received was phenomenal, the dedication of the carers and activity co-ordinators outstanding. My sister and I had peace of mind that Mum was receiving the best care we could possibly hope for. The carers excel in dignity and personal health for each resident. The food was varied and plentiful. Mum passed away peacefully in the place she called home. I have no hesitation to recommend Capel Grange to future sons/daughters for a safe home for loved ones.

I feel safe and I know my father feels safe. The carers are loyal and have been at the home a long time, which says a lot. Not lots of new people. They are like Dad's extended family, very caring and considerate. The food is very good and very clean. Lots of activities. Lovely rooms. I can't fault the place at all.

In my opinion, Capel Grange provides very good care in a warm friendly atmosphere. The home is always clean but ensuite bathrooms do get a bit smelly.

Residents of all abilities are encouraged to become involved in a wide range of activities and to be as active as their situation allows. My mother loves the various activities. The staff are all very good kind and understanding.

Although my mother was in the home for a short period, her fear of being in a care home soon vanished. Mum and the family found the home to be excellent in all aspects. The care staff were particularly brilliant and they looked after Mum with love, care and compassion.
The standards of the facilities and food were the best we could have imagined.

Well done and God bless you all.

They seem to be very attentive. There are two problems, my husband sometimes does not have a bath. When the patient officer came she said he must have two a week at least. It has only been since then that he has had a bath once or twice not every week as promised. He does have a shower sat in the chair under it but he can't wash most important parts. The carers do not attend to him when he wants the toilet as they have to see to others and it appears they are always too busy.

Since my husband has been a residents of Capel Grange he has received excellent care form the nurses and carers, also the staff on all levels. It was a difficult decision for us the family, to have to put my husband into a nursing home. So when I leave him each day, after visiting, I know he's being looked after properly. It's like a home from home, like I tell them one big family!!I thank them for their continued care! Always!

My mother has been a resident at Capel Grange for 17 months. During this time she has moved from a general nursing unit to an EMI unit. On each unit my Mother has always been treated with the dignity and respect she so rightly deserves. I and members of my family are always treated with respect and if ever I have had any issue then it is promptly sorted. It is reassuring that Mum is being well cared for as it can be upsetting to see her with the Alzheimer's disease she has.

My mother and father were resident at Capel Grange since 2010. My father passed away in their care in 2011 but my mother still resides at the nursing home. My parents had previously been resident at another establishment where I was very unhappy with their care. This home has since closed.
Capel Grange is in my opinion one of the best nursing homes in Wales. It is clean, well designed accommodation with open light spaces. The rooms are spacious and airy all with ensuite facilities. The staff are well managed, professional and effective. The units operate with same staff teams who work on a rota basis. Food is good and plentiful. Activities co-ordinators provide activities 5 days a week.

If you are reading this with the unhappy task of finding nursing accommodation for a loved one, I recommend Capel Grange without reservation. The staff are happy to show you around if you visit.
