It was Mum's Birthday and staff came round to sing 'Happy Birthday'. All staff are lovely. We need clarity from home owners on attendance allowance value.

My father spent four months at Stretton Hall when he became too frail to stay at home. The care and attention, kindness and consideration shown by the whole staff was exemplary, right from his first day until the day he died. I could not recommend this home more highly to anyone needing care and attention in their final days.

Overall, I am delighted and really appreciate the care my Mum has received over the last 21 months. Warm, friendly, responsive staff who engage professionally, constructively and co-operatively with the residents and family. For all categories, I wanted to give an 'excellent' rating but feel that in reality, they don't quite make it - very good usually but not excellent, why? Not enough attention to detail, which actually is extremely important. The fees and the huge increase can never be value for money.

Following spells of respite care during 2022, my husband has been permanently in Stretton Hall since January 2023. At all times he has been cared for with respect and concern. As I am no longer able to look after him at home, Stretton Hall is the next best thing.

My mum has been well looked after at Stretton Hall. She recently lost her husband and all the staff have been supportive, inviting her to join in activities, socialise and helping her adjust. The activities coordinator organises a wonderful range of activities building on the interests of residents, with regular outings too. Every day, Mum gets to choose from an impressive menu and she enjoys eating in a homely, restaurant environment with others. The menus are planned based on the residents feedback, and adapted to suit individual preferences and needs. She can also choose to eat in her comfortable room, if she prefers. Everyone on the staff team works extremely hard to meet the needs of residents treating them with dignity and respect, and always a smile. The home is clean, bright and welcoming with regular special family events as well as opportunities to share information and give feedback.

My mum used the service after a fall and a very rapid decline in her health. She was always well cared for and found clean. Attempts were made to involve her more, but she was unable to join in the activities. Once used to the best times to contact the home, we, the family, were able to find out about her more. She was safe and well looked after.

From the outset, I was med to feel welcome. The staff were outgoing and attentive, and I appreciated their care. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Their efficiency was there at every level, but it is administering medication or presenting the menu. Having had little appetite for food in the hospital, the catering team offered a splendid choice of meals. Staff found time to chat besides doing their duty. This even extended to my visitors. All in all, I felt secure and well looked after.

Overall Experience
Mum was at Stretton Hall for the last seven months of her life. Both Mum and the family were overjoyed to find a nursing home that was able to give Mum such wonderful care, kindness and respect.
She enjoyed chats with the staff and really embraced the activities on offer; she was able to have lunch and coffee mornings with other residents as well as attend the Knit and Natter group, which helped enormously as she really did love to socialise and that was an important part of her stay.
Her early morning cups of tea were also a big part of being made to feel at home, and the staff were so obliging and really took on board any special requests, like afternoon birthday tea in the lounge and the ability to bring our dog to see Mum.

We really cannot speak highly enough of all the team; each and every one made Mum's final months the best they could have been; thank you.

The care that my dad receives at Stretton Hall is outstanding. From the moment I (quite literally) walked in off the hills on the spur of the moment to ask the administrator a thousand questions about care homes, knowing that my dad needed care, Stretton Hall has made me feel welcome - their ethos that relatives are part of the Stretton Hall family too really shines through. My dad is beautifully looked after, well fed, and has a lovely, peaceful room in the Garden Suite (for residents with dementia). Stretton Hall is excellent at keeping us informed, and any concerns that I have about my dad's changing health are always responded to quickly and have invariably already been spotted and addressed. The activities at Stretton Hall are varied and enjoyable, and my dad especially loves the music. But the thing that impresses me most about Stretton Hall, the thing that matters to me most, is the deep, genuine care and knowledge/understanding that the staff have for the residents. I see it both in the way staff engage with my dad and the way I see them interacting with the residents. I'm so glad he's there.

Being the close friend of a resident for 50 years, I have to say his care for six weeks with all Stettin Hall nursing home until his death was absolutely exemplary. Everything about this nursing home was faultless. His room was large, clean and cosy. The staff were caring and so helpful and friendly. All his needs were catered to for end-of-life care.

Review from Peter V (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 28 February 2023 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was a resident of Stretton Hall for the last two and a half years of her life. She consistently said that she was treated with kindness and that the food was good at the beginning of her stay. She was quite active and was given the freedom to walk the corridors whenever the mood took her and to sit and talk in the corridors and have a drink or some food so that she could talk to the passers-by! Even when she later became almost bedbound, she was positive about the home and her room and the staff.

Stretton Hall is a fully family set-up, welcoming visitors, especially spouses, with a genuinely warm and caring atmosphere. Resident's rooms are respected as their own space, and their own facilities are welcomed, subject to safety regulations, making the room a true home-from-home. Facilities to ease movement through the building enable residents to associate freely with others. The building itself is a blend of a manor house and a new purpose-built wing beautifully designed to fit in with the old building.

Sadly having lost my son in early July, after two and a half years at Stretton Hall, I have no hesitation in giving the whole of the staff, management and the Hall itself 10 out of 10. Should I ever need care, I hope they can find a room for me.

Best wishes to all at Stretton Hall. Will certainly call in for a cup of tea and a slice of excellent care when passing.

Review from John M (Partner of Resident) published on 12 September 2022 Submitted via Postal Card

My partner has been receiving end-of-life from the beginning of December 21. The nursing home is well run with staff, both medical and caring, displaying empathy and very personal care. She is bathed daily, and her clothes are changed daily. Her medication is also of a high standard, and changes are effected when necessary. The food is of a very high standard and beams in comparison with a good restaurant; it is prepared and cooked in the nursing home's kitchen from fresh ingredients. Occasionally problems fo arise, but they are dealt with promptly by management or nurses and carers where appropriate. The home has a lovely, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. My partner is receiving end-of-life care.
