This beautiful home set in Church Stretton is always a positive experience when visiting.
I find all the staff to be warm, friendly, and caring on each visit to the home.
Nothing is too much trouble, and you are always made to feel so welcome.
The manager there is really nice and very caring.
He
appears to have got the culture of compassion, care, and professional service just right.
I have to mention in high regard also the two activity social life coordinators who are simply joyous and make for an absolutely wonderful team.
The residents are so well provided for, and they do their utmost to keep the residents happy and care for.
All-round wonderful team, and a happy place to be a part of.
Reply from Janet Pannell, Interim Head of Operations at Stretton Hall Nursing HomeThank you for your review. It is great for the team to receive such positive feedback as it is recognition for their work in providing quality care to our residents and of their ability to work together as a team.

My partner was diagnosed with terminal cancer in Spring 2021. As she neared the end of her life, it was not possible for her to remain at home, and she moved to Stretton Hall to receive palliative end of life care. I cannot convey what a relief it was, both for her and the family, for her to be put
somewhere so beautiful for the last months of her life. Wonderful setting and a garden-style room, which was very important to her as she was immobile but loved nature. She was able to watch the season changing one last time and delighted in the comings and goings of the birds and animals. The staff were beyond supportive and compassionate and spent much time with her when she was strong enough to chat and laugh. The last months and end of her life were peaceful, dignified and pain managed, and this is wholly because of the wonderful care at Stretton Hall. Thank you, always.
Reply from Vanessa Davies, Head of Operations at Stretton Hall Nursing HomeThank you very much for taking the time to review the care at Stretton Hall. I know that the staff worked really hard to ensure that you, your partner and her family were comfortable during a very difficult time, and it's lovely to read such nice comments about the team. I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the team, thank you, and take care.

Our mother was a resident at Stretton Hall for nearly 5-years; as time went on and her Alzheimer’s became more challenging, the staff were always professional but caring and compassionate. The family were always kept informed, and we were able to visit regularly, the staff always welcoming. Stretton
Hall is a beautiful building, clean and well maintained, beautiful gardens. Mum passing in July 2021 at 102, and I feel she had the best care from all the wonderful staff and can’t thank them enough.

My mother was admitted to Stretton Hall from the hospital for end of life care in December 2020. Because of Covid, the family had not been able to visit the home before she became a resident, or visit her in person for several months afterwards, but the staff were always so helpful and kept us informed
at all times. When we were eventually able to see Mum, we were very impressed by the cleanliness, atmosphere and obvious dedication and friendliness of all the staff.
Mum passed away in July, and the care she received was second to none. She was treated with respect, dignity and compassion at all times. I would have no hesitation in recommending Stretton Hall to anyone looking for first-class care.
Reply from Vanessa Davies, Head of Operations at Stretton Hall Nursing HomePlease accept our sincere condolences. We are so pleased to hear that you feel Stretton cared for your mum so well, particularly given that you were unable to visit until more recently. Thank you for taking the time to review the service; we really do appreciate it.

After making the difficult decision to move my aunt into Stretton Hall Care Home, we have been comforted by the level of support and care she has received. Initially, for respite care, but more recently, in the Garden Suite, we cannot fault the commitment of all the staff under the leadership of the
manager to the wellbeing of all residents. The care home has been very understanding of our situation, living several hours away from Stretton, which made visiting even more difficult during COVID times. They have ensured the home was COVID-secure whilst the care and support staff work tirelessly to maintain contact between my aunt and members of her family through facilitated phone and video calls. Attention is taken in tailoring the service provided to both residents and their families alike. We are so pleased and feel blessed that my aunt can remain in the village she has lived in all her life and receive the care and support she deserves and requires as her health fades.
Thank you to everyone at Stretton Hall.

She received excellent care and understanding at Stretton Hall. We feel all her needs are met thanks to all the hard-working staff. We couldn't wish for a better place for her respite. She looks forward to coming to every visit and comes home in a happy mood and can't wait to tell us all about her stay.
All her personal hygiene and support needs are met. We would highly recommend Stretton Hall.

I still cannot thank the group and Stretton Hall enough for their care of looking after mother. Now I am visiting more times each week since opening back up, Mum is looking amazing. She is so happy. She loves all the staff. They work really hard taking good care of Mum; they will sit with her until
she has eaten all foods and drinks; they have and spent time with Mum. Only for these lovely staff, I am sure Mum would not be with us today. They are very caring and absolutely fantastic staff. Highly recommend Stretton Hall. Thank you all so much.

We were welcomed in at short notice with end of life care, the staff are professional and friendly. Especially one member of staff whose caring and welcoming professionalism made the family feel at ease. We didn’t see much of the facility’s however the care towards my mother was of a high standard,
they were open and honest with all of the family and answer any questions we had. Thank you to all the staff that made a difficult time bearable.

On 12th February, my son and I were at the bedside of my wife as she slipped peacefully away from a deep sleep.
She was in her 17th year of enduring Altzheimers, 15 of which was with my and our families care.
Finding and being accepted by Stretton Hall proved to be ideal for my wife.
I have nothing
but praise for the management, and especially the staff of the Garden Suite during her approx 2 and 1/2 years spent at Stretton Hall.
Until the arrival of Covid 19, the family were allowed 24/7 access to visit my wife and their Mother.
The garden suite staff were unbelievably caring and always available to assist with her care. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The meals were of a high order, (thanks to the chef), fresh and more than sufficient, liquids and treat always available.
The bedrooms were clean, tidy, fresh linen etc.
I remember saying once that Stretton Hall was more like an extremely good Hotel... I have no reason to remove that remark.
Dignity was ever-present.

My husband has been a resident at Stretton Hall for nearly five years. His dementia has become increasingly worse, but the care and patience of all the staff have been constant despite his sometimes uncooperative behaviour. All his needs are taken care of with sympathy. He appears to be happy and settled

I was immediately struck by they constantly smiling staff who are obviously very happy working here. The care is brilliant and the nurses keep me informed regularly of any changes/incidents however slight. Doctor visits weekly and there is a comprehensive activities program. The staff try to involve
as many residents as possible in the activities and no one is left out.
I would definitely recommend Stretton Hall to anyone wishing a relative to be cared for with no worries here.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.770)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.770) out of 10 for Stretton Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Stretton Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (170 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 206 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stretton Hall Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
